Can't think of a damn thing but you get the gist

Going to a fifth!

I didn’t stay up to watch the men’s matches. Disappointed to see that Zverev couldn’t beat Djok again. Hopefully he has done enough to tire him out to give Medvedev an advantage!

Well done Jane for watching the whole match! I fell asleep not long after the Daniil match- but was awake to check the scores at various points in the night. I saw that the Djok lost the first set (which seems to be becoming his 'thing') and then sailed off with the next set. At that point, I think iIthought it was all over. I was surprised to wake up later and find Sacha had won a set- but he obviously ran out of steam in the 5th.

Got everything crossed for Danill to win tomorrow, so we dont have to listen to anymore commentary about calendar slams! Oh, ,and the fact I can't stand Djok . I do like Daniil though, I think he balances the 'love me' desperation of Djok, with just the right amount of cynical humour.

Up at 6.20am today as DS is helping at the Southampton boat show. His school has a stand and is also offering taster sails on their boats. And it's his 18th birthday today! Can't believe where the time has gone DH and I will pick DS up this evening for a birthday meal in Southampton, so will miss the start of the women's final but hope to get back in time to see Emma win Apparently, the BBC are showing highlights tomorrow afternoon on BBC1. Don't remember them doing that with Andy in 2012

Apparently Amazon are being put under pressure to make the final free to view. BBC showing the highlights on Sunday will be great if Emma wins but will be a bit flat if she loses as everyone will know the result by then (even though simply getting to the final is a massive achievement and it doesn’t matter if she does lose).

I remember staying up late watching Andy win in 2012 - it was a long match if I recall correctly and I think I nodded off a couple of times, but was awake to see the end!

The BBC did show the US Open finals in the past - I remember staying up and watching Lendl win many years ago! I think it’s got a bit more complicated with so many tv channels now

Just spoken to DS1 and he’s going to watch the women’s final - he is not normally a tennis fan so good to see that tennis is being seen by a wider audience

I tried to engage him about the men’s final but he wasn’t interested!

I've just seen a picture of Rafa on FB . He's been in in Barcelona getting treatment on his foot avoiding Fizzy and is now home to recover, with what looks like plaster on his foot. Hopefully, he is going to be ok. I have actually quite enjoyed this US open, but I would still like to see him back for a bit!

Good news about the women's final.

The trouble with the men's final (as I have found many times in recent years) is because of the time it starts- and I have to be up early on the Monday- I invariably fall asleep. The women's does tend to be finished before midnight, at least.

The Rafa/Daniil final felt like it was over - I fell asleep and missed Daniil's 'come back' and watched the last half of the last set. I re-watched the bits I missed the day after. I did like Medvedev's speech that year.

I hope that C4 see how popular tennis is and has more on in future!

It was a brilliant match last night despite the result. Just great tennis. No gamesmanship, no tantrums and no loo breaks long or short! The final game of the third set is worth watching for the amazing rallies.

Thing is, the match will probably get huge viewing figures but only because there’s a Brit competing. If there is no British interest it probably wouldn’t get high viewing figures so not worth C4 investing the money in buying the rights.

Ssshhh Chessie don't tell them that.

It’s a vicious circle isn’t it? If it was on TV more, people would watch more! But outside Wimbledon I just don’t think the demand is there, sadly.
