Imagine if a woman on LI, who actually didn't really fancy any of the guys and people were just casually and constantly throwing 'oh well she MUST be a lesbian because she doesn't fancy any of these men'! It would be shamed as misogynistic. But it's ok here for posters to constantly say it about Hugo!

The thing is with Shannon she really really refused to play the game. In the first challenge she pulled back and wouldn't let the guy kiss her (fair enough she shouldn't be forced), and then when it was the turn of the girls she skipped her turn (or something happened and her turn was edited out). Bottom line is we didn't see her take part. Why?
Hugo might not be coupling up properly but you could at least say he is making a half arsed effort especially at the start where you are thinking, oh well it's just his bad luck he hasn't found someone.

There is one notorious poster on here who brandishes it around as an insult for anyone who comes in who fancies no one. I grew up with a gay sibling and as such have spent an extensive amount of time with many people in the gay community and see no mannerisms/actions/attitude in Hugo that make me suspect he could be gay whatsoever. It would be a massive massive effort for him to pretend to be a straight man for the cameras. I find it quite offensive that people keep throwing it around like it's a dirty word and that he must be gay as he's not interested in the girls. Not everybody wants to fuck everybody. That does not make them gay! It's ignorant and deeply offensive to gay people to have their sexuality used as an insult in this way.

I'm not sure how long everyone's been on these threads but @unique1986 says this about virtually everybody, even those popular with the opposite sex (and tbh you should have the bollocks to tag the person you're talking about).

However, I agree that gay is often used as a slur and it's not acceptable. The reasons for Hugo's reticence has been explained far better by PPs then just those commenting "he's gay".

I'm rather surprised that some posters think saying Hugo might be gay is a greater insult than saying he is snobbish, aloof, a game player, arrogant, leading people on, lying about his employment status ... and everything else that has been said about him.

I think Hugo is attached / still in love with someone and just doesn't want to go there with anyone in the villa. That's the energy i get from him and seems he had a 2 year relationship (with a woman) that recently ended.

There's nothing in that extract that implies I suggested all gay men act the same. I never said or implied anything of the sort. It was another poster who said they think Hugo's manners make them think he's gay.
