I've just finished Scott & Bailey, and Stephen Graham's Time, loved them, same as Luther, Marcella etc.

Looking for a new one now, what's good?

@BikeRunSki

That’s what I came on to say
About Strike that is

@musicalfrog

If you're OK with a series set in the recent past, Inspector George Gently is very good.
Is that a bit midsummer murders?

@3Britnee noooo nothing like it. Here's a short precis. You might have to find a box set though as I'm not sure it's on any streaming services. It really is excellent though. Martin Shaw stars.

@3Britnee do let me know what you think. I can feel a re-watch coming on!

3Britnee · 20/06/2021 17:29

@musicalfrog 👍 I've just checked and there are 8 series' on my firestick. I'll bookmark it and watch it next.

I'm just watching Spiral after reading this thread. I'd already watched S1 and now I'm on S3 and it's loads better than the earlier ones. I'm really enjoying it. Really long series with long episodes. Lasted me a few days already which is good because I can really get through a series. I think I watched that Mare of Easttown mostly in one day. Loved that as well.

airforsharon · 20/06/2021 22:02

The Fall
Those Who Kill (Danish, on iplayer)
The Killing (ditto)
Shetland

I've only just watched The Killing (first shown in 2009 iirc) and it's fantastic. There are 3 series - the political side of the story drags a little imo in series 2 & 3 but overall they're well acted, well scripted, cracking stories

I would also recommend Lupin , has anyone mentioned Whitechapel? enjoyed that

BigMamaFratelli · 21/06/2021 07:17

Oh yes, absolutely loved lupin!
Cardinal on iPlayer is very good. And I really enjoyed The Bridge

3Britnee · 21/06/2021 07:50

I loved Whitechapel. And ripper street, but it's been removed from my firestick, before I could finish it 😭

Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere so suggesting Bang, set in South Wales (Port Talbot). It's really good and has won quite a few awards. 2 series. It's bilingual with subtitles. Nice to see a Welsh crime drama that's set in the industrial South of Wales for a change. I'm halfway through S2 and would recommend.

IntermittentParps · 21/06/2021 14:46

Buggerthebotox, it's not on iPlayer; is it available anywhere else, do you know?

Buggerthebotox · 21/06/2021 19:00

Sorry should've said. It's on Prime. FreeSmile

caringcarer · 21/06/2021 19:52

Lupin is excellent. I quite like Midsummer Murders and Poirot too.

Hels20 · 21/06/2021 21:59

Agree with PP about Cardinal. Set in Canada - scenery is beautiful too.

Really liked Apple Tree Yard with the formidable Emily Watson and Fearless (Helen McCrory). Both on BritBox.

Unforgettable on Netflix is excellent too. Toni Collette and Marit Weaver are both wonderful in it.

Arrowheart · 21/06/2021 22:04

Spiral is amazing

devildeepbluesea · 22/06/2021 14:44

@buggerthebotox thanks for that recommendation. PT is my neck of the woods (sort of, have lived 10 miles west and now live 20 miles east).

IntermittentParps · 22/06/2021 15:33

Thanks Buggerthebotox!

It made me think, actually –Hinterland, Welsh (but west Wales) is excellent. Really beautiful-looking programme (scenery but also it's just so well shot and realised), and good stories and acting.

IntermittentParps · 22/06/2021 15:35

Amazon Prime wants me to pay for Bang. Boo!

Karwomannghia · 22/06/2021 15:42

I enjoyed the fall.
Keeping faith also set in Wales is a bit of a whodunnit and beautiful setting.

astoundedgoat · 22/06/2021 15:48

The Bureau (the French version) is EPICALLY good. If you liked Homeland, for instance, you'll love it - espionage and so on.

Other advantage being that there is heaps of it, so you'll be kept quiet for ages.
