Couldn't see a thread yet.. maybe it's too early.. but needed to talk to people about Strictly with the news today that Zoe Ball and Ian Waite are leaving ITT!

Will Rylan take over full time? Who will become the resident dance expert?

Also, has anyone else seen the clips of AJ and Curtis on Hollyoaks? I do wonder if he regrets quitting Strictly.. I'm
not sure acting is his forte.

I would love a Johannes/John pairing.
I don't want stompy Nicola back, although they have set a precedent of injured celebs being able to return with Baron Biscuits last year. I just didn't think she was good enough.

I’m inclined to side eye Biscuits because I think he hurt himself before the first proper live show.

Getting a few dances on the show proper before having to isolate is unfortunate but for me, it would be unfair if they got another go when others haven’t been invited back.

I have just been down a Giovanni Ciacci Raimondo Todaro rabbit hole. The latter was the sexy Gio-type pro that was also a bit of a Tony Beak being on the Italian show so long but has quit this week allegedly.
Just revisited their dances. I wasn't wrong. He used canes, hankies, even a goddamn hula hoop at one point so they weren't actually touching, I guess, until the (largely catholic?) public got behind them and the sleb was a bit of a tall, gangly, more mature duffer but he did really try with each routine and although he still looked a bit dazed/rabbit in headlights, his footwork improved - e.g. Viennese waltz. Entertaining enough for me to rewatch. Not sure the judge in the first show was wrong though in terms of chemistry.
You either have it or you don't. I think you can fake it or even showmance it to some degree sometimes, but if it's not there, it's not there (Gio and Laura spring to mind!)

Yes I think he was injured in the launch show wasn't he? So never really started training for his own routines.

I reckon they’ll post John with Giovanni. And his new romance with the woman from love island is designed to reinforce his heterosexuality, in case there were doubts. He strikes me as very ambitious so I think he’s throw himself into that pairing but would want everyone to remember he’s straight

The difference is that Jamie didn't actually start the show, only the group dance and he was then injured. He never competed, unlike Nicola, so no there was no precedent there.

See, this is what I don't want - the helluva game, helluva game mentality. I would hope he wouldn't do that, if paired up.
What I want to see is proper choreo, as for any couple, including intense eye flirting when appropriate e.g. argentine, rumba, tango. Gio could pull that off easily. Any pro should be able to.
I don't want same-sex bromance adonyne routines (H and Matt on Dancing on Ice, step forward) nor do I want male/female gaze fetishizing (unless it's a Killing Eve theme and the women are in character ) nor do I want routines to all be same-costumed mirroring/props between them to keep-it-safe-for-the-grannies routines. I just want a pro, who'll do a good balance of classic elegance for ballroom and hot, steamy for Latin.

I thought Nicola said recently that she's going back this year. Or maybe she said she really wanted to

I think AJ might be better with somebody a bit taller by the time she gets heels on — when I danced at university we used to reckon about 5-6" was a good height difference to get your hips in line for ballroom.

Bellarime Oti has naturally long legs AND wears high heels so she definitely looks taller than she is!

I read the autobio of Dame Beryl Grey recently she was sidelined quite a bit because she was so tall . If you look at Darcey B. she has had the luck to be born much later, the height of dancers (even the ballet dancers) isn't soo important.
