TENNIS THREAD- The Clay season continues- onwards to Paris, via Madrid and Rome...

The big question at the moment is- will Medvedev ever win a match on clay??

Benoit posted during the week about knuckling down for the rest of the clay season but it doesn't seem to be going well from the score line!

Yes 9am is far too early for Benoit’s beard (although I suppose Rome is an hour in front? Still a bit of an early start though)

Foggy is also up - it’s definitely too early for him - he’s playing Keith in his lollipop kit

It was all too early for me- I fell asleep had a bad night, and feel really tired. Gave up trying to stay awake .

YY, Rome will be an hour ahead, but still early. It's good from a tv watching point of view- tennis all day .

Sinner is playing Umbert. Important match this, as the winner plays Rafa. Sinner seems to have the first set tied up.

Garin is getting a bit hot under collar in his matchagainst Harris, think he got a code violation earlier.

I am hoping to watching Cilic/Bublik later. Finger crossed for Marin!

Yes DH didn’t look too impressed when I was watching tennis at 9am but tennis all day is a good thing!. I don’t like it when he works from home!

DS2 passed his driving test today which hopefully means that I won’t have to spend many more days ferrying him about - every time I’ve gone out there have been crazy downpours and it’s interrupted my tennis viewing

DS2 is also less likely than DS1 to be useful for giving us lifts to the pub as he also quite likes going to the pub himself!

Ok back to the tennis hopefully - yes fingers crossed for Marin

Just got back from oicking up dd2 ( it's never ending) and saw the Garin match ended with another argument over a line call this time Harris. But Garin won.

I have to say, DH and I are soooo happy that DS passed in December, between lockdowns, when all his friends were stopped in their tracks. He's sailing 2 or 3 times a week with the school, plays tennis twice a week and is also a Young Leader at Scouts, so is always out and about. He drives himself to school aswell (which means lie ins for me ). Which means Kazza's Taxis are now redundant DS even drove me to visit my dad on Saturday; dad was discharged from hospital last Wednesday and has moved into a residential home (interim or permanent remains to be seen )

Haven't managed to watch any tennis today

I’m so glad that he passed otherwise he would probably be looking at September for another test (we won’t mention the number of theory tests he had )

Well, Marin has drawn level in his match. I have no commentary. I have tried everything, and I have silence.

I've had enough of Robboe Koenig over the weekend, so I'm not too bothered .

Morning all. Saw a bit of the Dimitrov/Davidovich match- and see that ADF beat Dimi in the end.

I do like ADF though - he was one of the newbies I put on my mental 'ones to watch' list- after I saw a match he played at the US open .He beat Hurkacz and Norrie- before meeting Sascha.

What is Robbie like? I’ve had the sound turned down which is better although I still seem to be switching matches on just as they’ve finished - wish prime would show the scores of matches on their match selection screen

The Spanish players with 3 initials are getting a bit confusing aren’t they? Keith had a walkover against PCB (I think) so not sure if he’s injured

I’m off to the hairdressers in a bit - who knows what colour my hair will turn out this time - I don’t think I’ve had any more fun being blonde but at least the grey is not as obvious!

Hoping to see some of Rafa tomorrow although I think it could be another nervy match against Sinner (hopefully this is when it all starts to come together for Rafa)

I noticed the walkover- I bet Keith is pleased with that- or maybe not. He might have liked the practice.
I get nervous every time Rafa plays, and Sinner is getting better and better, so it could be a tricky one.

Djok has been practicing with Andy (who isn't playing in Rome, just practicing- I immediately wondered how that can be allowed under Covid restrictions and bubbles). Maybe Andy wore him out.
I'm really hoping Taylor can pull off an upset. It's a big ask though.

I'm not hopeful of an upset in the Djok match.

I saw a video of Andy and Djok practicing.

And now Andy is playing in the doubles with Liam Broady because Hurkacz and Felix AA have withdrawn

Felix AA is doing very well at the moment against Schwartzman, so maybe he fancies his chances this week.

I was out -and got back to see that Tayloer had drawn level in the second set- and it's raining . I think that will benefit djok the most.

They are showing a Djok/Murray repeat- and it is odd, seeing completely full stands .

Ironically, the final they are showing- Djok is complaining because it is raining. .

I’ve just got back and seen that play is suspended - typical Djok always moaning

Djok was a bit of a dick in this match, I now remember. Lots of snide remarks to the umpire.
