Definitely worth a second watch as pp mentioned. I quite liked the ending. Feel bad for the cast & crew over the Soc media reaction

Furries · 03/05/2021 23:38

@JaneJeffer

I'm interested in one thing and one thing only; what Jenny thought of the final episode.
Ha, yes! Looking forward to seeing what she and the rest of them make of it.
EvilOnion · 03/05/2021 23:40

@JaneJeffer YES, I have thought about this too. Do we think the notebook will be shredded in frustration?! Grin

RevolvingPivot · 04/05/2021 06:08

It seemed a bit pointless having Steph in the series. Although I suppose if not we wouldn't have known Hastings gave her the money?

SoupDragon · 04/05/2021 06:22

@lottieproject

As an aside, did anyone else find "Steph Corbett's" Liverpool accent excruciating? It was so bad.

Agree, must be awful to see the comments. I really enjoyed it, was such a talking point at work, we all bonded over some virtual gins!
HOkieCOkie · 04/05/2021 07:08

@SunscreenCentral they will be used to it, they made a epic show that drew in millions of viewers. So a few cry babies didn’t get the ending they wanted!

I was initially wtf but the actor who played H gave a good interview on this morning and did actually put the ending into a good perspective.

The actress is Irish. You can always tell when the actor isn't a native.
SoupDragon · 04/05/2021 07:47

I can't! I am totally shit at it. Even with my own South London accent.

EvilOnion · 04/05/2021 08:23

To be fair I can pick out Steve's Glasgow twang every now and then (I'm Glaswegian) - don't get me wrong his English accent is excellent but there's something about the pace/pronunciation of certain words that gives the game away if you know.

It's the same with most actors/actresses.

I think the ending was a slow burner for me, as soon as it finished I thought "well that was shit" but now I've had time to process it I think it was well done. I just wish we had more of a hint what's going on with Steve/Kate/Ted. I'd have liked a note on them but then I suppose that would mean giving the game away on whether there was a S7 though!

TulipWoodpecker · 04/05/2021 08:26

@CheekyWeeShite

If you want a brilliantly written crime / police series with a perfectly written ending, I advise starting on The Shield. I believe it’s on Prime now, also All4. As much as I’ve enjoyed LoD, The Shield makes it look like Midsummer Murders.
'The Shield' is absolutely awesome.
MotherOfGodWeeFella · 04/05/2021 08:36

I predict that Jenny will have cried when Ted confessed to Kate and Steve.

DialDownTheIanPaisley · 04/05/2021 08:42

Who’s this wee Jenny girl?

EvilOnion · 04/05/2021 08:43

@DialDownTheIanPaisley - Jenny is a massive Line of Duty fan who appears on Gogglebox. She sits every week with her notebook and pen taking notes (genius!) Grin

Oh I love Jenny and her notebook - can't wait to see her reaction 😊
DialDownTheIanPaisley · 04/05/2021 08:56

Thanks @EvilOnion. Wise woman! Grin

Sorry if this has been covered (not read entire thread!) but a question that's bothering me!!!!

Why was Buckells "framed" with the evidence in the boot of his car? I think Jo confessed to planting them, but if Buckells was also in with the OCG then who would have told her to do this and why, since it put an ally behind bars?

I keep chewing it over and it's not making sense in the context of all we now know, unless I missed something? Any clarity appreciated!

EvilOnion · 04/05/2021 11:14

One of the many unanswered questions Rollo...

I think Jo didn't know Buckell's was part of the network, certainly not the one who had been giving her instructions, so she thought she could get him out of the way so she could run/direct the investigation and get rid of Ryan whilst protecting Kate.

That's just my wonky thought process though!

RolloTomassi · 04/05/2021 11:22

Thanks onion! That makes as much sense as anything else I can think of - but what a massive OCG blunder in that case! Grin

Pinkearedcow · 04/05/2021 11:43

Who signed the document ordering Jo to be taken out of prison for interview? The one that was co-signed by Kate (but Kate said she didn't sign it) I found that very confusing?

RolloTomassi · 04/05/2021 11:50

That's another one giving me sleepless nights! Ryan was dead by then and Buckells had already been taken out by Jo, of all people. So who was left to orchestrate it? Nobody seemed to follow up with Lomax, whose name was also on the doc?

Also why did Carmichael stay out of the final interview, and Kate joined it as a non-AC 12? Bumping Sherlock Chloe who'd single-handedly identified Buckells as H 😆 So many questions!

Did you notice how in the first episode Jo says to Buckels about we need this( the arrest of the Gail suspect ) to go the way WE want. Who did she mean? Just the two of them or the OCG?
Buggerthebotox · 04/05/2021 12:54

There were some strange goings on in that first couple of episodes between Jo and Buckells which don't seem to make sense in light of her no knowing he was actually pulling her strings.

I think we also got to find out that Buckells did in fact put the files in the boot of his car himself (although he said initially that Jo was framing him).

I've blagged the afternoon off and I'm going to watch S6 again. Happy days. Hopefully it will make more sense in hindsight.

Jo admits to framing Buckells with the files in one of her interviews (of course she could be lying to protect him).

I do believe she thought it was Fairbanks on the laptop though.

Jo was just dropping someone else in it instead of her - she wasn't told to put files in Buckells' car. From working with him she already knew he was lazy, etc as she had deliberately got his approval for the wrong kind of surveillance so as to mess up the arrest of Carl Banks.
