That Twitter clip 😂😂

BruceAndNosh · 03/05/2021 19:55

I think I found this series particularly confusing, as despite them using Belfast and area for filming from eason 2, this was the first series that really LOOKED like Belfast. (apart from the climax of S3 with Kate chasing Dot down and under Tates Avenue!).

Apparently Steph Corbett 'lives in Liverpool' but I KNOW she definitely /definately lives on the hills above the north shore of Belfast Lough...

EsmaCannonball · 03/05/2021 19:55

I love Kieran Hodgson in Two Doors Down. IIRC his send-up of The Crown was also brilliant.

EvilOnion · 03/05/2021 19:58

@EsmaCannonball same here, took me a minute to figure it was Gordon!

His Carmichael is absolutely spot on 👌🤣

Definately · 03/05/2021 20:09

@Blondeshavemorefun

If buckles was top man then why did he see /have a murder in his cell

To prove what

Who set it up ? Buckles or someone above him

I still say there will be s7

And yes Ted to,d Carmichael that as means she would have to report him as corrupt, and she’s saying it doesn’t happened

If she doesn’t report it then she’s just as bad

He wasn't top man though. He was just a bent copper designated to pass messages on to other bent coppers.
Nishky · 03/05/2021 20:30

Why did Buckells smile when he was put in his cell?

The on screen caption referred to public interest immunity- he knew he would never stand trial

Oh god that made me laugh. Thank you.

User135644 · 03/05/2021 20:37

@IcedPurple

I definitely hope they have another series to bring Osborne down, or at least try to.

I hope not.

I think if there is going to be a 7th series, the way forward is a completely new bent coppers case, with few if any links to previous series. The constant references to characters and plotlines from earlir series was headache inducing and confusing.

The last 2 series have been too much of a circus treading the same ground.

It needs a new Gates or Denton. I never found the Kelly Mcdonald character interesting either and thought John Corbett was killed off too early.

Janus · 03/05/2021 20:37

Buckells wasn’t the mastermind behind all this, he was simply a bent copper being told by the OCG what to do and paid nicely for it. So when he saw Lakewell being killed in front of him it must have made him realise how it could easily be him if he didn’t do as they asked.
I have assumed the OCG forged the document to get Jo moved to try and ambush and kill her.
Jo had been told by Hunter that Fairbanks was her Dad and she was ordered to do whatever he told her to. I think she thought he was operating out of prison and messaging her, like Buckells was still able to do.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 03/05/2021 20:41

Thanks @PuppyMonkey, the twitter link is great.

Abraham and Jonah and the Great Big Whale!! Grin Grin

diddl · 03/05/2021 20:43

The Twitter clip is fabulous!

Well it could go either way couldn't it?

There's enough for another series, but it was pretty much wrapped up as well.

Janus · 03/05/2021 20:54

😂@PuppyMonkey that’s a great clip!!

Stormer · 03/05/2021 21:16

Yes fantastic clip Grin

cheers @PuppyMonkey mate. I’ll buy you a pint but I’ll just have the one as I might go to Liverpool for some cheeky spooning

lottieproject · 03/05/2021 21:38

As an aside, did anyone else find "Steph Corbett's" Liverpool accent excruciating? It was so bad.

AC12theletterofthelaw · 03/05/2021 21:56

I strongly suggest anyone disappointed with the episode to watch again. I was and still am but the expectation has gone and the episode is better a second time round. Worth another watch.

Ok that makes sense

Yes. It was very try-too-hard.
ServedWithAReg15 · 03/05/2021 22:23

@Furries

Taken me ages to catch up on this thread.

Bloody hell - I’m issuing a Reg 15 to approx 90% of people on here. What’s wrong with all you wee fellas?!

That was a great episode. Loved the underpass switch. And, as I said a couple of threads ago, Chloe would continue to keep beavering away to come up with important information.

At the end of the day, they clarified two murders - Gail and Lawrence.

They also highlighted perfectly just what that “thin” line of duty is.

For Buckles it was a mixture of “choice” and greed. Obviously started years ago, probably pressured as a younger officer, but his greed took over to amass a property portfolio. Basically, zero fucks given until shit starts to get real and he starts to see consequences too close to home (witnessing Lakewell death).

For Davidson it was enforced and ingrained from a very early age - both personally and professionally. The mix of the two make it even worse. Her ending is difficult - on the one hand she deserves to be punished, but on the other hand her while existence was a punishment and so the dream cottage etc feels like compensation for her.

For Ted, it was pure drive and frustration. To him, what at first seemed like a small indiscretion, turned out to have serious consequences. He will continue to find that difficult to live with - his confession to Carmichael was perfect.

I don’t get why everyone is so disappointed re Buckles! It was perfect. He is NOT the mastermind, but was utilised for years. Leaves it open for S7 - top dog is most definitely still out there.

And I agree with a few pp who say that this episode was also a reflection on how corruption will always exist, no matter how much we want a neat ending.

Now, need to go feed the wee donkey - as you were.

This, absolutely, i thought it was a great end
unique1986 · 03/05/2021 22:48

If anyone else had been H is would have still been a shitty final.
Dull dull dull.
I like to laugh a bit and oooo and ahhh at LOD.
Ps no kiss between Kate and Jo Shock

unique1986 · 03/05/2021 22:51

And for the last time Jed Mericurio has nothing to do with BBC drama Vigil.
I did feel Adrian Dumbar was being parody of himself unless hes always been like that as Ted Hastings.

JaneJeffer · 03/05/2021 22:51

I'm interested in one thing and one thing only; what Jenny thought of the final episode.

Pinkearedcow · 03/05/2021 23:25

I still think the Top Dog is the Chief Constable.
