@thenightsky

I have to say, eyebrow girl and her mother do actually look related.
Yes, it’s a good bit of casting.

Little Sam

He was a quirky and novel character when first introduced but now he is just silly, irritating and boring (in my own view of course) and in real life there would never be an interview of tutor by pupil. Daft idea by the writers. They are good at that though, bad ideas. How old is Sam meant to be? Imagine him as a teen or adult? On second thoughts, don't.

luckylavender · 15/05/2021 11:19

I can't abide Sam. He's totally unrealistic.

eggandonion · 15/05/2021 11:26

I don't understand why he is the only child allowed on set? I think he is on way too much and becomes increasingly irritating.
Maybe Sharon will steal him before his exam..is that for the posh school Rosie went to? Or Daniel will sort out the sharon and the drug gang via Sam. Or something.

Yes just annoying. Most adults would nip that nonsense in the bud
Serpenta · 15/05/2021 12:41

I think the whole 'little kid who talks and acts like a wise old college professor' is a trope that's been so overdone in TV and films already. There are other ways to show a child is intelligent without having them impersonating a 50 year old.

MrsSteveMcDonald · 15/05/2021 16:50

I'm shocked that they didn't forget about Seb's HIV and have him miraculously a match for Peter. It's just the sort of soap coincidence that happens with alarming regularity. You can imagine them introducing another family at some point with one or more of Seb's organ recipients who felt drawn to the street without realising that their heart/lungs/etc came from there...

Even with Seb being HIV+ this wouldn’t be entirely impossible. It might have actually been quite a nice twist. However for the liver, or any organ, to be viable it would need to be removed soon after the donor is brain dead as without the necessary oxygen supply the organs stop functioning correctly. www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(21)00084-2/fulltext
TheVolturi · 15/05/2021 18:50

Kelly's mum has the strangest accent ever!

Keeping2ChevronsApart · 15/05/2021 21:57

Can people who are HIV+ donate organs?

Deadringer · 16/05/2021 16:04

I don't care much for Sam but enjoyed the exam scene, mostly due to Daniel and David i thought they were quite funny. I think Sam can relax, if Rosie could get into Oakhill he is a shoo in.
Surely the 2 boys already charged with the attack, Eli and whoever, would have given witness statements that would implicate Corey?

ChildOfFriday · 16/05/2021 17:34

I assumed that Sam's exam was a scholarship/bursary exam, as when anyone else has gone to Oakhill it seems as though if they've got the cash for the fees then the school will take them (e.g. Rosie Webster Grin). No idea if that's right though.

nildesparandum · 16/05/2021 17:38

Rousette
I think the writers are hoping we will forget about the quads.Whichever one of them thought the story up must be regretting it now.
The same with Sarah Lou's little boy.I cannot remember his name and I doubt if she does either.

Deadringer · 16/05/2021 18:28

Yes perhaps Sam is trying for a scholarship, that would make sense. Iirc Rosie got kicked out of Wetherfield High for bullying, but then Sally discovered that she was brilliant at maths Confused so she was sent to Oakhill to encourage her genius. Grin

ChildOfFriday · 16/05/2021 19:12

Yes, I think I remember the parents' evening at Weatherfield High where every teacher was negative about Rosie, and Sally and Kevin were angry and disappointed, and then they saw the last teacher- the maths teacher. He said she was at the top of the class and often found the work easy, etc, so Sally decided she was a genius who needed to go to Oakhill Grin

Honeyroar · 16/05/2021 19:34

You guys have amazing memories!

Rosie a maths genius! They never pursued that either, did they!

Squeejit · 16/05/2021 20:27

Didn’t Kelly eyebrow go to Oak Hill before Gary Windass bumped off her dad and the school fees stopped?

ChildOfFriday · 16/05/2021 20:39

Yep. Along with Rosie, I think Mike Baldwin paid for Mark to go there, and Asha and Aadi were recently there briefly. Has any secondary school aged child on the street ever gone to any school but Weatherfield High or Oakhill? Judging by his uniform, Sam doesn't go to Bessie Street Primary, which also seems like a first!

I think as Helen Flanagan got older, the writers realised she was perhaps not best suited to playing a child prodigy. (Is that a diplomatic enough way of putting it?)

Yes totally get what you mean. I’m amazed they didn’t get her a new head, like they have with Summer and Tod. I suppose she was the eye candy for the blokes that watch, that’s why she held her role!

woodhill · 16/05/2021 22:11

Yes, she was a goth at one point

Clawdy · 17/05/2021 08:01

I seem to remember Rosie had a nice boyfriend who lived with Roy and Hayley for a short time, and they were both Goths.

Roussette · 17/05/2021 08:30

On Sophie and Rosie... I do remember an episode with mostly them in, that was classic comedy gold. It might've been to do with Tim's window cleaning, can't remember quite what. Rosie used to spend a lot of time on SM and taking selfies didn't she?
It was one of the funniest episodes I've seen on Corrie.

RJnomore1 · 17/05/2021 08:36

I really like helen Flanagan

Just thought I’d let you all know!

lavenderandwisteria · 17/05/2021 08:47

She keeps dressing her baby ds in the same clothes I dress mine in and I am paranoid people think I am copying her! I do find her a bit irritating but that’s probably because I do NOT look like her post partum, sadly!
