Hope you all don’t mind, getting near the end of thread 7, so thought I’d trot this one out!

@Littlefluffyclouds13

I love Anna Maxwell Martin in other stuff but can't stand her in LOD Sad The mumbling, smug half smiles etc are really grating and she's just a really rubbish villain! Its starting to spoil my favourite programme, I was gutted when she reappeared!!!
Firm agree. The smirks were done to comedic affect.
sorryboss · 26/04/2021 12:24

It could be another bit of Jackie, they seem to find a bit more every series

Ulysses · 26/04/2021 12:25

Thurwell might be too young to be a father figure to Jo. Hi sDOB is

iklboo · 26/04/2021 12:25

Ohhhh! Neil M (Nige) is doing the voice over for a car purchase company using the theme tune from The Professionals. Which was a TV show about:

CI5 - or Criminal Intelligence 5, is a British law enforcement department, instructed by the Home Secretary to use any means to deal with crimes of a serious nature that go beyond the capacity of the police, but which are not tasks for the Security Service or the military.

So he IS H!!!

(I bloody loved The Professionals and had a Thing for Lewis Collins even though I was 8).

GlassBoxSpectacular · 26/04/2021 12:27

@CounsellorTroi

Does anyone else thing Marcus thingy is not really dead, otherwise what would be the point of casting James Nesbitt in the role? I haven’t rtfs so apples if this has already been covered.
Apparently this is a joke JM played on JN - JN supposedly made clear that he was very keen to be cast in LOD, so JM did exactly that: made him the face of a major player in the corruption scandal, but only as a face on a screen and a dead body. Grin

I’m not sure finding Thurwell alive and well could be shoe-horned into the final episode as there’s still a lot of other stuff to cover. But it still serves a useful purpose in showing us that whoever is at the top of the pyramid has international reach.

Ulysses · 26/04/2021 12:27

Posted too soon his DOB is 1966 and Jos is 1979.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 26/04/2021 12:28

@Constantcrayfish

We are spoiler-free on here, but I think there is one bit of the original trailer left that we haven't yet seen played out which was read in one way before the series started and I'm now thinking means something different.
Ooooh, I’ll have to go back and rewatch!
Idontlikeshouting · 26/04/2021 12:34

I'm still unsure how I feel about that episode- was it really good or really crap? The Kate/Jo thing was weird - I can see why they'd want to get a story straight but they'd have had time to do that while waiting for the others to arrive at the lorry park and as a PP said, Jo could have told Kate about the print shop etc. They could have still said Jo shot Ryan.

I'm thinking it is too obvious for Carmichael to be bent but then sometimes the simplest most obvious explanation is right. Same with Osbourne. The problem is we're all overthinking but I love it! Grin

I think Jo's mum was murdered and made to look like suicide. Not sure who her "dad" is - isn't Thurwell too young? I don't think JN will appear in person and I don't think the mum is the Senora.

Hmmm there's a lot to resolve in an hour fellas - hope it's satisfactory (love that theory btw @Comeinoutoftherain and that would be amazing!)

I'll have to listen to the podcasts and do a rewatch for further analysis!

PawFives · 26/04/2021 12:35

Mother of god, some great theories on here! I’m convinced there must be something more to Kate and Jo fleeing the scene, Kate’s too clever to panic. Carmichael is probably just horrible and ambitious rather than corrupt. Still no wiser why Chicken Licken was in this series. Can’t wait till next week.

countrygirl99 · 26/04/2021 12:37

I would have fled the scene

  1. she doesn't know if Steve has seen the text and he might not be in a position to do anything.
  2. she doesn't know who from the OCG might turn up
  3. she says to Jo that Steve has told her bad things about Hastings, so she doesn't know who she can trust.
GlassBoxSpectacular · 26/04/2021 12:37

Still no wiser why Chicken Licken was in this series.

So that Steve could find out Ted gave her £50K of what is potentially OCG money.

Can you stick give more detail on the spoiler thread? I'm intrigued.

shyposter · 26/04/2021 12:41

I know we're all saying that Thurwell is too young to have been her 'dad' - but isn't he the same age as Tommy Hunter? And they could have been friends and maybe they both abused her mum (☹️) - maybe her mum didn't know which one of them was her actual father?

It's only because we know Jimmy Nesbitt the actor, that we know he's from NI - if he's not actually going to be seen on screen apart from in photos then he could have been from anywhere - Glasgow for instance.

BentBastard · 26/04/2021 12:42

Indeed. Which feeds in to Kate and Steve's suspicions about whether they can trust him.

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 26/04/2021 12:47

We've been speculating all along that katemate is UCO for another AC unit, perhaps she was tracked by AMM as she is working with her?

ArthurBloom · 26/04/2021 12:48

Anyone else dissapointed in the episode?
really felt it added nothing to the build up, they killed off Thurwell which was a let down, I just felt it was all a bit pointless as an episode, literally nothing happened to advance the narrative!

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 26/04/2021 12:50

Also I think Carmichael will head up the new combined AC unit as planned - with katemate working for her, Steve sacked and ted retired. The next season will then feature them finally solving everything while not actually working for ac-12.

CaptainMyCaptain · 26/04/2021 12:50

THIS IS A POTENTIAL SPOILER You can Google James Nesbitt.

No further comment.

HaveringWavering · 26/04/2021 12:51

Can anyone explain why they would have found Kate and Jo in Steve’s car? I got the bit about trackers on all AC-12 vehicles (which I guess must have included personal ones) but how did they know Kate was driving Steve’s car?

This ^^
Add into that the meanie prison officers, who made us all burst out laughing last night with their OTT scowls and I’m wondering if, shudder, LOD may have jumped the shark Sad

I guess they knew Steve’s car was being driven because it was moving around. And they knew Steve was in the office so he wasn’t driving it?
Constantcrayfish · 26/04/2021 12:56

@BentBastard I don't want to go on the spoiler thread! I rather wish I hadn't seen the trailer. I've also just seen a spoiler elsewhere online that has annoyed me.

@HaveringWavering they presumably had their eyes on all the AC12 cars to see what was moving?

I took the fact that they were tracking all of AC12's cars to mean their official vehicles. Steve drives a Volvo - so Kate must have been driving his personal car. Would they have tracked those too? We haven't even seen Steve drive that I don't think...

It wasn't an AC12 car, it was Steve's personal vehicle (I already refer to this upthread). They def weren't tracking it as Carmichael tells Steve she's just found out it's his car after bringing Jo and Kate in.
