Hope you all don’t mind, getting near the end of thread 7, so thought I’d trot this one out!

I just ready though the Carly Kirk page in Fandom and realised I thought that happened in a totally different programme (recent one where a man was shot at a barbecue)

Wonder how many programmes I'm getting mixed up!! Could explain why I sometimes feel I've missed entire series and the odd episodes of LoD!!

PrincessScarlett · 01/05/2021 07:42

Gill Bigalow was feeding information to John Corbett so presuming she introduced the concept of H to John and Lisa.

Constantcrayfish · 01/05/2021 08:54

The plot holes are legion the longer you look. Much of it doesn’t stand up to the sort of intense scrutiny it’s getting! Some of the wilder theories are just trying to compensate for this.

Along with the laptop nonsense, I remain irritated that Hastings had never seen the spelling of ‘definately’ when he claimed he’d been practising it. Yet Jed tells us this is a plausible explanation.

MackenCheese · 01/05/2021 08:59

Just heard Vicky McClure on the radio Halifax advert. As you were...

I actually think it was Steve who mentioned it to Corbett on that first car ride, but I am not 100% sure

I thought that but actually I think they did access the content as they analysed it to come up with suitable phrases and Carmichael had it for the interview
PomLikeTheBattle · 01/05/2021 12:11

Just listened to AMM on obsessed with line of duty, she seemed very nice, shame the direction has probably been to pantomime up.

Constantcrayfish · 01/05/2021 13:28

No, they only had the ‘metadata’. So not the words themselves. Quite how that enabled them to come up with phrases was in itself a mystery.

Buggerthebotox · 01/05/2021 13:41

I think the storyline about the metadata and the misspelling is going to be pivotal to how things pan out. Hoping I'm wrong on that point, but it makes sense of why Ted wanted rid of the laptop (the porn explanation doesn't really stack up).

As to the other plot holes, I think sometimes we have to accept that things are not as clear as you'd expect, like why give people like Biggeloe and Prasad immunity when they don't appear to have given much information in return.

I'm still waiting for Terry to be interviewed though - I'm betting he's hiding far more than he's let on so far -,enough at least for Ryan to try to murder him anyway. He's been there from the start, has been party to the storing of Laverty's body and has taken photos. I wonder what happened to those? He also has an interest in Vella otherwise why the semen - stained photos (unless it was planted which means that it' s also been harvested).

The plot holes are just that - they’re not deliberate ambiguity, just bits of not great plotting or writing. No one would notice them if we weren’t engaged in the forensic scrutiny of the series! Harry Potter was exactly the same - fun but doesn’t stand up when seen through a microscope.

Look who I just spotted in silent witness...

Buggerthebotox · 01/05/2021 14:20

Rohan?

Just been watching Cracker which has a very young-looking Adrian Dunbar in it.

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 01/05/2021 14:25

Yep it's Rohan. Oo, I'll add cracker to my list! Forgot about that

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/05/2021 15:34

Ha! I just watched last weeks episodes of Between the Lines and eventually realised that Hilton was in it Grin

CaffeineAndCrochet · 01/05/2021 15:40

Going back a while now but Rohan was also Zainab's ex husband in EastEnders.

PomLikeTheBattle · 01/05/2021 15:57

I’m going to watch them all again but fast forward through to violent bits. Started Series 1 and it’s really quite dated now though - and gross - the poo in the car 🤮

CheekyWeeShite · 01/05/2021 16:56

No, they only had the ‘metadata’. So not the words themselves. Quite how that enabled them to come up with phrases was in itself a mystery.

It’s clearly an error in the script because otherwise Carmichael wouldn’t have had the text to bring up in the interview - if she has it then there’s no reason Ted couldn’t have seen it, even though this goes against them saying earlier they couldn’t access the conversations as clearly they did!

I agree, in almost all these cases it is poor writing - doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the programme but there are errors and ridiculousness littered throughout.

BruceAndNosh · 01/05/2021 17:40

I might have to watch tomorrow's episode on the crappy tv in bedroom. Cos if any of the three central characters are revealed to be BENT COPPERS, things will get thrown at the tv, and I can't afford to replace a fairly new Frame TV.

Constantcrayfish · 01/05/2021 18:10

I actually sort of know Ace Bhatti. Is that a claim to fame?

iklboo · 01/05/2021 18:20

Oooh. I kind of know Sacha Darwan. We're practically famous ourselves aren't we?

Constantcrayfish · 01/05/2021 18:36

I think so. Uncanny. Perhaps we can play bent coppers in series 7?

iklboo · 01/05/2021 18:44

I'm up for that. I'm very innocuous looking and people have a tendency to tell me their deepest, darkest secrets within minutes of meeting me. Perfect for OCG.

PomLikeTheBattle · 01/05/2021 21:42

Katemate and SteveMate on Jonathon Ross tonight.

PrincessScarlett · 01/05/2021 21:43

Johnathan Ross now! Can't get over Steve's Scottish accent!

PrincessScarlett · 01/05/2021 21:44

Donkey has been mentioned 🤣🤣
