Hope you all don’t mind, getting near the end of thread 7, so thought I’d trot this one out!

Who does Jo think her father was-do we know?

Fairbank?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/04/2021 17:10

@diddl

Who does Jo think her father was-do we know?

Fairbank?

I assumed Thurwell
PrincessScarlett · 28/04/2021 17:14

I assumed Thurwell too but it's possible it could be Fairbank. Might explain why Fairbank has been reintroduced and the mention of the child abuse from previous series.

diddl · 28/04/2021 17:20

Thurwell I think is only about 13 yrs older than Jo?

Still, Tommy Hunter was!

I wonder if she thought her father was a similar age to her mum?

LeaveTheBentBastard · 28/04/2021 17:26

I think with Lomax and Bishop they are introducing characters for a new team in S7 if it happens. Think Ted or another main character will be killed. Could be wrong though.

friskybivalves · 28/04/2021 17:50

I think Ted will lay down his life to bring down the bent coppers. Go out in a blaze of heroic glory. Make the ultimate sacrifice. That running out of time comment was so loaded and so sad. He looked absolutely crushed in the lift. I reckon he would believe it would be worth it. Also in a hair shirt way he might see it as paying penance for the missteps he has made along the way.

I'd be gutted. Think would need a week of national mourning and wearing of black armbands. Minute silence before football matches etc.

FawnDrench · 28/04/2021 18:46

I've read several times (somewhere, can't remember, but various articles online etc) that LOD will apparently do a "full circle" and "go right back to the beginning" and similar such phrases.

So if this is the case, wouldn't we be back at the misnumbered flat where the allegedly wrong person was shot - by Steve I think - anyway, if so, couldn't that just have been a huge ploy to get Steve into AC12, right at the heart of finding bent coppers etc.
When in fact he's the bentest of all, and has been planted there to feed all the info to the OCG, who have always been one step ahead it seems to me.

Not to mention him shagging Lindsey Denton and feeding bullshit to John Corbett, and doing his own investigation into Ted on the quiet.
And not being truthful with Kate about what Jo disclosed.

And those balaclava men who threw him down the stairs were never caught, were they?

Saw an idea online similar to this the other day.
Too far fetched of course, but you can't rule anything out, fella.

ImAncient · 28/04/2021 18:50

FawnDrench open mouthed I tell you, open mouthed! ShockShock but a friend has been saying similar since the start. She’s convinced Steve is bent.

Ejk80 · 28/04/2021 18:54

Maybe it will turn out Karim Ali was a secret OCG member about to turn informant so Tommy had him taken out via Osborne and that’s what started the whole chain of events - the publicity from that made the corrupt officers start to turn on Tommy, you never know!

iklboo · 28/04/2021 18:56

Steve didn't shoot the guy in S1 did he?

8dayweek · 28/04/2021 18:56

I've got no idea how it's going to end but I do think the "moral" of the story is going to be that everyone is a little bit bent, it's more about what level of bent-ness we're comfortable with (Ted and the 50k, Steve and the codeine and Kate and Richard Akers...?)

LaganinaBubble · 28/04/2021 18:57

Noooooooooo! I think I'll cry if that happens 😢

Martin Compston was on the Shrine of Duty podcast today - it was brilliant & so weird to hear his Scottish accent 😁

WeeDonkey · 28/04/2021 18:58

@iklboo

Steve didn't shoot the guy in S1 did he?
No. He was directing the raid but not actually on scene.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/04/2021 19:04

And SpanGran!

YES!

That you, Bore - I was trying to think of who was on that (ultimately tragic) thread, but couldn't;t recall any news.

NOOOOOO!

Insane filth peddled by people who aren't fit to lick the buttons on his waistcoat! Angry Angry Angry

ceeveebeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 28/04/2021 19:41

I really don’t think they would have thrown Steve down the stairs if he is in the OCG (unless they were trying to bump him off!)

quirkychick · 28/04/2021 20:04

I agree that one of LOD strengths is showing that no one is perfect. They are all shades of grey. Quite often in the investigations they know someone is hiding something, but it is not necessarily corruption. Their motivations are often complex and sometimes as the audience we know more than AC-12 but sometimes we don't know it all.

I have just rewatched s1-4 (I watched s5 then s6 as it came out). I think a pp was questioning why there were trophies from the victims. I assume it had been balaclava man to frame Michael Farmer (with the help of James Lakewell) though, it appears to not have been solved. Also, I had forgotten that Hilton was getting Maneet to pass him information.

That's been a feature right the way through, ever since the very start of series 1 - when Steve took the waitress at the cafe who was witness to a mugging on a date, and more significantly saying Gates died in the Line of Duty - the very series has been named after that decision - the heart of the whole story is that we're all human and prone to corruption, and it's not always black and white.

PomLikeTheBattle · 28/04/2021 21:33

I really like Chloe, be great to see her in a spin off or series 7 🤞

That was me - I don’t think they only took the trophies to frame someone though, because there appears to be no reason they were killing the women in the first place? I still don’t understand how the deaths of those women relate to the OCG at all. And I cannot for the life of me understand why they’d frame a man and then dump more body parts from cold storage when he’s in custody. Very odd but no one in AC-12 seemed to ask these questions!
SophieB100 · 28/04/2021 21:49

Steve can't be bent - why the hell would Pilkington (as a wee lad) try to chop his fingers off back in the earlier series...
Doesn't make sense.

Could Osborne be Jo's dad?

If any of the main trio are bent, then my money would be on Kate. I love Kate, but she's the one I trust the least.

CheekyWeeShite · 28/04/2021 22:01

Kate is surely due a turn on the other side of that interview room table...the others have all had a go. I need to hear her shout “I’m not bent”, it’s a rite of passage

I would have to take to my bed and receive no visitors for a month but I think you may be right. I was listening to the Obsessed podcast today and they were speculating the same way. What would Ted actually do without bent coppers to nick though, God love him.

How in the name of God are they going to tie all this up in one episode?

CheekyWeeShite · 28/04/2021 22:25

Just remembered in ep 1 of S6, Jo and Buckells had a conversation about the CHIS and Jo says something like “if this is going to go the way we want, we have to find out who he is”.

The way we want? Definitely implies Buckells is more involved than is currently being suggested.

iklboo · 28/04/2021 22:41

Could Osborne be Jo's dad?

No. The DNA results showed it's Hunter. There's bent coppers but pathology to that level might be much harder.
