Hope you all don’t mind, getting near the end of thread 7, so thought I’d trot this one out!

Nah - Lomax just wanted to knock off shift and go to the pub instead of hanging round a cold industrial unit whilst the floor was being dug up.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/04/2021 12:09

I don't think that was Thurwell's dead body the policia found..it was the mexican house thief...

Thewiseoneincognito · 28/04/2021 12:20

Agree with others who said they don’t believe it was Thurwells body.

For all we know the OCG could have influence and connections to other police forces around the world and this was a fake raid to protect H and their cronies.

The way the series has touched on child sexual exploitation by mentioning Saville it may link towards the Epstein case or something similar leading into season 7.

Welshwabbit · 28/04/2021 12:33

I absolutely am invested in Jo, in a way I wasn't invested in Roz Huntley or John Corbett, and very much was in Gates and Denton. I sobbed at the end of Series 1 and 3.

YoutubeZoom · 28/04/2021 12:40

Welshwabbit I was the same. I remember Tony Gates dying and it was like "What just happened?!" By the time of Lindsay, we knew she was not safe and never would be.

BentBastard · 28/04/2021 13:20

I've not totally ruled out Jo being a more active OCG participant than we think, although if that's the case the private shots of her looking pained about it all would be a bit naughty.

friskybivalves · 28/04/2021 13:43

On this whole will there be a series 7 thing... Does anyone think the BBC will just offer Jed so many ££££he won't be able to refuse?

The amazing and wonderful thing about LoD is that after being able to binge on whole boxsets at once during lockdown it has only been put put one episode at a time. So it really has brought the nation back together IYSWIM. Destination telly like the old days. Everyone gathered at 9pm. Twitter on fire. Water cooler moments the next morning. More people watched this than the blooming boring Oscars!!! Can't see the BBC going, 'yeah you're all right, Jed off you go lad, thanks mate, t'was great while it lasted.'

Won't they be offering him diamond encrusted handcuffs to keep going?

unique1986 · 28/04/2021 13:45

I've found Kate quite annoying this series.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 28/04/2021 13:47

I think he'll want to work on other things after such a long period working on LoD and the Beeb will want to keep him. I know I'd far rather watch a Jed Mercurio drama than many of the other things that are shown.

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 28/04/2021 13:49

He could easily keep going with LoD, while also working on 'new things' by doing a spin off?

unique1986 · 28/04/2021 13:50

100% yes to the poster that said lots of stuff this series has happened off screen.
I mean Gail murder thing is like wtf

BentBastard · 28/04/2021 14:03

I hope he writes something different. Loved Bodies and Bodyguard. I think he should do something different and be careful not to try and milk LoD.

I have a gut feeling that Hastings is going to die “ in the line of duty” to bring down H. I can’t see retirement suiting him, wife left him, no children mentioned at all , the job is his life.

Rhannion · 28/04/2021 14:11

Same here, although with Gates it was his dog that upset me. Denton’s funeral was heartbreaking, no one there, I thought one of the three main characters would have been there, she deserved better.
ImAncient · 28/04/2021 14:16

She really did. Yes agree with Welshwabbit didn’t enjoy series 5 as much. I had little
sympathy for Roz Huntley & last series I couldn’t invest. This one is better.

YoutubeZoom · 28/04/2021 14:27

Doesn't Mercurio start to write for Netflix? www.digitalspy.com/movies/a36146944/line-of-duty-creator-jed-mercurio-political-thriller-netflix/

OneRankSuperior · 28/04/2021 15:42

Random musing for the afternoon - if H/OCG were able to fix it so Jo and Ryan were strategically placed on Operation Lighthouse, why didn’t they fix it so Ac-12 alumni and expert sleuther of bent coppers Kate Fleming wasn’t placed on Operation Lighthouse

🧐

Rhannion · 28/04/2021 15:45

I noticed that Ryan didn’t mention Gail, or Lisa the policewoman he drowned when speaking to Kate and Jo, only his previous two victims. It’s possible he didn’t kill Gail.

Ryan was never in the frame - it was believed to be Carl Banks.
Blondeshavemorefun · 28/04/2021 15:58

Yes Carl killed Gail. Then he got killed as blabbed in a pub

Think that’s right

FreezerBird · 28/04/2021 16:01

Shrine of Duty have an extra episode out now where they interview Martin Compston. Hilariously, he describes Steve Arnott as 'the wanker in the office with the waistcoats and the headset, who's having all the office affairs and no-one can understand why' which I think is the best summation of the character I've ever heard.

Beebopawhop · 28/04/2021 16:06

@Rhannion she did mention the drowning Kate did no?

PrincessScarlett · 28/04/2021 16:55

For those thinking Lomax is dodgy, there's lots of speculation online as apparently he mentioned going to the Red Lion pub for a drink in the scene at the workshop.

The Red Lion pub is where Carl Banks blabbed about killing Gail and a known meeting place for OCG members. Although obviously Red Lion is the most common pub name.

I will be a bit peeved if Lomax does turn out to be a big baddie as he's had a very low key presence throughout and it doesn't feel right somehow to just shoehorn him into the finale.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 28/04/2021 17:08

Agreed Lomax has been to insignificant for that to be the case.
