It's the one I remember least and I feel like I need to look for clues before next week.
Anyone fancy joining?

I'm a LOD virgin Blush and a bit desperate now to join my peers. Where can I get my hands on series 1?

Slatternforlife · 20/04/2021 12:49

@hashbrownsandwich it’s on iplayer :)

I don't think discussing the whole thing is spoilery. The whole point is to get a better grasp of what's going on!

I've watched the first episode. Just going to watch some more tonight.

Slatternforlife · 20/04/2021 15:09

I’d forgotten that Steve really annoyed me in the first series

If you've got Sky it's on there

Just watched Series 1 for the first time. Loved it

PhillipPhillop · 20/04/2021 15:39

I'm rewatching on BBC iplayer. I think they are all on there

KittyFilter · 20/04/2021 15:57

If you have to rewatch the entire series in order to understand the latest is it because it's badly written/nonsensical or because there are such long gaps in-between series and you've forgotten what happened?

Slatternforlife · 20/04/2021 15:58

@KittyFilter it's because there's an over-arching story that links up over the series

DicklessWonder · 20/04/2021 16:00

I hammered series 1-3 last weekend and now part way through series 4 on a re-watch.

HarrietHardy · 20/04/2021 16:02

I re-watched Series 1 last week.

I'd forgotten just how much Gina McKee's voice gets on my tits.

fizbosshoes · 20/04/2021 17:56

@KittyFilter
Each series introduces a new thread that is interlinked with characters from the previous series and then in the new series you have to pick up all those threads and work them 8into the new story if that makes sense?

Slatternforlife · 20/04/2021 20:31

Bloody hell I'd forgotten what a little sod Ryan was in series 1
Although really, growing up as he did, he didn't stand a chance

I didn't pick up on it first time around, but it really seems like they were possibly pushing a Kate/Steve romantic angle in series one, a kind of slow burn type thing. I'm glad it didn't go that way!

Toilenstripes · 20/04/2021 20:42

I’m on episode 2 of season 1 and I really don’t like it. 😬

wingsnthat · 20/04/2021 20:45

Can anyone rewatching shed light on something? Do Tony & Kate actually sleep together? I know someone made a comment to Steve later but I don’t recall that ever actually happening

Reg15notice · 20/04/2021 20:48

I totally recommend the Shrine of Duty podcast to anyone new to LoD or recapping previous series. It's done by a gang of total LoD geeks and they have some series recaps which are v funny as well as forensically detailed.

Slatternforlife · 20/04/2021 21:09

@wingsnthat yeah I was confused about that. I was also confused as to why Kate blew her cover like she did - I remember the first time thinking it was because she was trying to get to Steve but second watch didn't seem like she knew he was in trouble

@Toilenstripes I'm with you. I started watching series 1 at the weekend. I've never seen LOD and wanted to join in the conversation but I hated it. Can't bear the violence and vile people in it. Had to keep fast forwarding as it was so horrible Blush After 4 episodes I had a lightbulb moment. I wasn't enjoying it and I don't have to watch it Grin

wingsnthat · 20/04/2021 21:27

Yeah, it’s weird. I’m guessing both Tony and Kate kept it flirty to keep each other on side, she got too attached and blew her cover, but nothing went further than that?

S1 is actually one of my favourites, I think it’s underrated. The later seasons can be a bit too theatrical/far fetched

wingsnthat · 20/04/2021 21:29

Is s1 that violent? I can’t remember

I think it might be a slow burner though as some of the characters aren’t likeable at first. Maybe jump straight to s2

That’s why they can’t talk to each other now without saying MATE 800 times. We get it. You’re not going to shag. Move on.
Annasgirl · 20/04/2021 21:57

I watched the whole thing 1-4 just before season 5 started. Now I've forgotten it so started again to-day.

Wow - Steve looks so young. Also, it is sooooo slow moving. And kind of weird watching when you know how they all end up (I mean, Steve, Kate and Ted - I can't remember how most of the others ended up Grin.)

Anyway., I'm still on episode 1 so I will catch up with you all later - when I see a few more episodes.

Craftermum · 20/04/2021 23:16

Can I join the discussion? Never watched LoD before last week and now binge watching right from the start.

Please tell me I'm not the only one with a sudden and unexpected girl crush on Vicky McClure?! Blush

She's very startlingly attractive.
GreenSlide · 21/04/2021 00:07

I'm on ep 3 of s1 rewatch. Steve looks so young! Tony and Jackie were making me feel a bit ill with all their breathy sex chat so I'm glad she's off to the freezer.
