Ok, I've started a new one in anticipation of Thread 3 filling up tonight, part way through the episode!

Fairbanks, not Fairburn!

So that widens the net of who Jo dna partial match might be

I don't think Chloe is bad either. Considering how senior Dot Cotton was, a less experienced cop being bad isn't going to have the same impact. Ryan is inexperienced but a great baddie because he's been bad for so long and we know that the reveal that he was involved in Corbett's death will be explosive.

@AwkwardArnottDentonFumble

Just started my series 5 rewatch and one of the policemen killed in the hijack was called Greysham. That was one of the surnames on The List, according to a previous thread. Coincidence? 🧐
That is a fantastic spot! Anyone beat me to searching the rest of the names to see if they have since died in the LoD?
YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 12/04/2021 15:57

@puginamug

I'm going to put my money on Jo being related to Jackie Laverty.

If you turn to page 12 in your folders.

  • They are close enough in age to be sisters or, at a stretch, teenage pregnancy (possibly with Tommy Hunter!)
  • Steve said it was a nominal match, meaning someone who was charged or cautioned, not a police person
  • There has to be something the OCG have over Jo - so "we'll do what we did to your sister" would be a strong enough threat.
  • Jackie is from County Durham which isn't that far away from Glasgow really so possibly moved away after Jackie left home
  • there has to be a reason her freezer's been dragged back in now
  • Chloe was confused, which means it's someone she recognised as already connected to the case.

I'm happy to take questions.

County Durham and Glasgow not far away? To quote my old dad, I wouldn't like to be dragged by the balls...

Might be completely off with this- just rewatching last nights episode and Jo whilst briefing the MIT, Ahe mentions that Gails keys were never recovered. Do we think this could have something to do with that lingering shit of Jo’s bundle of keys in episode 1? Or was that purely so we know she had the means to plant the burner phones?

Cocacola12 · 12/04/2021 16:04

I know, right Hmm

It’s over 150 miles....

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 12/04/2021 16:05

Cocacola12 · 12/04/2021 16:05

That was in reply to @YoureAllABunchOfBastards Grin

Bluntness100 · 12/04/2021 16:09

I reckon Kate is under cover. I think she transferred to another ac unit, ted knows and that’s why he’s hurt, she elected to continue but not with him, but Steve doesn’t know. And now she’s helping them which is a bit of a slap in the face for ted because they need her.

She’s trying to get close to jo due to her undercover role.

Ac 12 is openly investigating, which has led the corrupt coppers away from the scent of the other ac dept and Kate, investigating under cover. They are all focused on ac 12 and don’t realise Kate’s the real threat.

It needs to be one who is not a police officer though and was never a police officer. Because his dna would be in the police database. So it’s someone who has never been a police officer.
Bluntness100 · 12/04/2021 16:12

Oh and the reason kate warned jo about Carl. Is because they wanted to see what she would do. Carl is dispensable, they have enough on him, he’s not the big fish. They want to see what jo would do, and they wanted it to look like Kate was on her side,

Jo fell into the trap and kept Carl ultimately. Even threatened Kate to make her drop it. So Kate now knows jo is corrupt.

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 12/04/2021 16:15

Bluntness, sorry to be confusing - I posted the list to see if any of the other off screen/minor deaths in the entire series were also from the list and hadn't been spotted

MysteriousAffairAtStyles · 12/04/2021 16:18

@Cocacola12

Yes, but “up north” is all just one homogenised village, and we’re all related. Even across national borders.

Peterlee to Glasgow is just short of 200 miles. So yep, Jackie and Jo were practically neighbours. Hmm

No, my bad, I’m easily confused..😃
OhWhyNot · 12/04/2021 16:20

No I don’t think Kate is undercover

I think she was trying to get to know Jo better and empathises with her and likes her. They have all shown a weakness and been swayed by emotions/feelings Ted has (giving money) Steve (unfortunately this impacted him keeping his trousers on) but we haven’t seen this from Kate

CoteFolie · 12/04/2021 16:23

Chloe was confused, which means it's someone she recognised as already connected to the case.

That's an interesting point @YoureAllABunchOfBastards.

Piggywaspushed · 12/04/2021 16:25

There's only one prison in LoD which all the OCG get sent to just like there's only one hospital, with one doctor dealing with all cases (and one prison these days) in Home and Away!

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 12/04/2021 16:31

I'm getting confused now. @Bluntness100 - do you mean Ryan rather than Carl? Carl Banks was found dead.

Buggerthebotox · 12/04/2021 16:36

Yes - everyone gets sent to Blackthorn! Including poor Buckells, who's only on remand (but gets a kettle, evidently..).

Regarding the List - there's a Denmoor on it - the bloke Ted shot was also called Denmoor wasn't he (apologies if anyone has already picked this up).

CheekyWeeShite · 12/04/2021 16:41

hence line of duty

I suspect it’s called “line of duty” because of Gates’ manner of death in series 1 (and Steve’s willingness to lie in that situation). I still reckon that S1 was written as a stand-alone one off series, and that the popularity meant they worked out a longterm plot based on what was in S1. S3 could have been the ending too, so I’m a little suspect about the idea of there being deliberately planted clues in S1.I think it’s more based off what’s in S1.

MysteriousAffairAtStyles · 12/04/2021 16:41

Ted shot a Robert Denmoor, who was a balaclava man; it’s not known if he’s related to the Martin Denmoor on Danny Waldron’s list - it’s not a very common name though, not in the same way ‘Banks’ is.
Heyha · 12/04/2021 16:46

Robert Denmoor was a balaclava man, the one Ted shot. I'm telling you, that wiki has filled my afternoon! Likely related to Martin Denmoor i would say.

OhWhyNot · 12/04/2021 16:51

Did anyone else feel slightly sorry for Buckles last night ?

Sorry derailing but it’s all so intense and though provoking

Wasn’t Carl Pilkington the Idiot Abroad? Grin
