Ok, I've started a new one in anticipation of Thread 3 filling up tonight, part way through the episode!

NobbySignaler. What a great idea - aTed Calendar! Yes please I have already put it on my list for Santa! What a treat - turning over the page of a Ted picture - every month! I would be jelly in his hands he can interrogate me all day and night - would confess to anything.

PrincessScarlett · 11/04/2021 23:23

Ryan is definitely a mass murderer. I reckon he killed Carl Banks and the CHIS as well. So chilling when he gave Jo that stare when she said she was transferring him and then just switched back to simple Ryan the probationist.

I reckon Jo is going to crack and confide in Kate OR Kate is going to be following Ryan following Jo and witness some sort of menacing/violence.

minou123 · 11/04/2021 23:23

@TheYellowOfTheEgg

Why was Buckles put in that prison? He's a quite high ranking Police Officer and the police put him in a prison with hardened criminals and known OCG/bent prison guards inside? Whose idea was that?
I decided to watch it again with Audio Description

The man who entered the cell with Buckells and killed Lakewell was Lee Banks!

So it's all connected- but still can't figure out how.

His face did some excellent acting when being retired off this evening!

@SusannahSophia as far as I know, TV captioners don't work from scripts, they just caption what they hear - that's why they're often innaccurate (late DH worked in theatre captioning where they DO use scripts and it drove him bonkers that they were so often wrong on TV!) That said I do think it will be a man!

Netaporter · 11/04/2021 23:25

This series has 7 eps. One more than normal. I do think this is the last series but others think they’ll be a s7. We’ll have to see Wink

PeskyRooks · 11/04/2021 23:27

I think Jo is Ronan Murphy's sister

UCOforAC12 · 11/04/2021 23:27

I keep thinking there can't be another series because they're rounding up so many bent coppers there can't be any more to hunt out surely?!?

CheekyWeeShite · 11/04/2021 23:27

@iVampire

Other police databases?

I thought there was just the one UK National DNA Database

And you don’t have to have been convicted to be on it - anyone who has ever been arrested could be in there (even if never charged, or if later acquitted). Not so sure about samples volunteered by the public for elimination purposes, but I think they’re kept too

A nominal is someone who has been convicted, cautioned, reprimanded, warned or arrested of a recordable offence. But in LoD they mainly use it to mean “main suspect” (eg Lisa McQueen in S5).

The fact that it’s a hit on the nominal database of another force (and not on the police officer database) yet it’s someone they know has to be relevant.

I have no idea how the databases work but watching again what Steve actually said is that it was from “other police databases”.

So who’ve AC-12 had contact with, who’d been arrested for an offence and is not a police officer. Someone Steve and Ted know and Chloe appears not to know.

I’m wracking my brains.

Surely it can’t be an officer as they would have said they found a partial match in the police database.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 11/04/2021 23:27

@LizzieMacQueen

wonder what those initials meant

Yes, I wondered that too.

You mean those in Buckells' phone record? I though they related to online dating: FAF = fit as fuck and RGT = really great tits or something else suitably eloquent for man if his ilk.
MysteriousAffairAtStyles · 11/04/2021 23:28

@IDontDrinkTea

Trying to catch up but you’re all posting faster than I can read!

Just attaching these pictures to say she can’t be Corbetts sister as their dobs are only two months apart. Sorry if someone else has already said this

Excellent work, thank you Smile
@ceeveebee oooh! Good spot! Who got his phone after he died 👀👀👀
This was my thinking. Recycled elsewhere. Or did it somehow end up with the OCG? 🤔🤔

LizzieMacQueen · 11/04/2021 23:29

Surely it can’t be an officer as they would have said they found a partial match in the police database.

But did they not comment that if you joined early enough your dna would not be on the elimination dna database?

iVampire · 11/04/2021 23:30

@ceeveebee

Very strange- DCI Gates date of death was 5 months before the date of that phone call shown in Buckells phone records...
That looks like a handset log (don’t the ones from network providers just give lists of numbers - sure we’ve seen them in documents in earlier interviews£

So Buckells perhaps used Gates as a pseudonym for another caller?

Or as it’s an outgoing call, he just pocket dialled a number he never deleted?

Strange that they weren’t using the network version with the numbers, though.

KittyOSullivanKrauss · 11/04/2021 23:30

That's reminded me that the reason for Ted's visit to Lee Banks in series 5 was never explained. Unless he was getting revenge on Corbett for assaulting Roisin. Lisa said the information about Corbett came from Blackthorn prison.

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 11/04/2021 23:32

Mother of god the thread is nearly half full already 😂

I have watched. SO glad Steve got that shot, having him get injured again would have been too cruel even for Jed!

MysteriousAffairAtStyles · 11/04/2021 23:32

Suspect ‘initalisms’ (not sure if Chloe made that word up confused) related to sexual acts. I don’t want to Google those grin

I thought that too - I’m sure one of them was ‘BJ’ something

CheekyWeeShite · 11/04/2021 23:32

But did they not comment that if you joined early enough your dna would not be on the elimination dna database?

No they said police wouldn’t be compared against the rest of the DNA database and certainly not when she joined the force. They would take serving officers DNA even if they joined before it was routinely collected, so they could be excluded from crime scenes.

As always I’m wondering what’s a clue and what’s an error / bad writing!

HerMammy · 11/04/2021 23:32

Did they definitely say the link was to JOs DNA? they would have Farihdas DNA too 🤔

ChristinaYang10 · 11/04/2021 23:33

I was watching the bullet dents carefully. None looked like they were breaching the van but there was a lot of them I guess.
But climbing up out of the van would leave them clear targets too.

That seemed like such a terrible idea! Anyone climbing onto or out of that van was just asking to be shot, regardless of whether anyone was bent (which I think Chloe is)

mocktheweek1 · 11/04/2021 23:33

Does anyone else have a soft spot for Ryan after knowing him so long? Or am I strange?

ChocBeforeCock · 11/04/2021 23:34

Yes what was the relevance of the Jake interview? They don’t usually waste scenes in LOD but nothing seemed to come out of that scene - so I’m expecting either Jake or the guns to be relevant in future episodes!

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 11/04/2021 23:34

I must say none of the big twists today really seemed like big twists because they’d been at least vaguely suggested in the thread already 😂

wildthingsinthenight · 11/04/2021 23:34

@mermaidsariel

I’m just BORED of this series. I can’t follow the plot and I don’t care whodunnit. It’s so disappointing. It’s like the scriptwriter wrote it on the back of a beer mat when drunk. The actors seem bored too.
I think you're on the wrong thread! Wink
