Ok, I've started a new one in anticipation of Thread 3 filling up tonight, part way through the episode!

@Nith

Was Dryden Scottish?
Yes
BruceAndNosh · 11/04/2021 22:44

I can't remember the early series so half these possible names for Jo's relative mean nothing to me!

YouKnobhead · 11/04/2021 22:45

@denverRegina

"Hmmm not sure I’m seeing Chloe as the leak, but you never know."

Telling Steve they need to open the van.

Desperately trying to open it and giving Jones the bunk up.

Double bluffing about a leak in AC12.

The tears of regret when she realised she'd had Jones killed.

James clearly making sure Steve confirmed nothing had been said in the van. Also possibly indicating to Steve that she's involved by his over familiarity with her - I mean, would he even know Chloe to be on first name terms?

Bent as fuck 😂

Agree with this - hey let's open the van while under fire rather than wait for backup, which is handy for the sniper to try and take a pop at you from above.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 11/04/2021 22:45

@BilboBercow

How did Buckles reach his current position in the police? He's utterly incompetent.

Kate is annoying me. I'm actually of the opinion she's fairly shite at her job.

Chloe is a funny one.

MOTHER OF GOD

I think Buckells is low level corrupt - does as he's told, but the OCG also know he's not the brightest. Having him witness Jimmy being murdered was designed to frighten him into silence.
BruceAndNosh · 11/04/2021 22:45

Jimmy Lakewell had a very healthy tan for someone who's been banged up for 4 years

YerGrannysNightdress · 11/04/2021 22:45

The photo in Jo's flat is definitely Anne-Marie McGillis, Irish mother of John Corbett. His Dad was dead and Anne-Marie was missing for years before her remains were found. John was then adopted by family and lived in Liverpool hence his dual accent.

We need to think hard here, who could Jo's DNA be a match for and not get sidetracked by accents. It needn't be a parent, could be a sibling of either sex, an aunt, uncle, cousin etc.

@CheekyWeeShite

The picture was Jo.

Right, what criminals do we know of that were not police officers, that Ted and Steve both know but Chloe doesn’t (hence not being sure what the results mean)?

Tommy Hunter
Lee Banks
Lisa McQueen
Miroslav
Jacqui Laverty

Who else?

Ryan is out as his DNA would be in the police officer database.

I forget the criminals from season 4

This certainly doesn’t seem to think that police are ruled out so maybe it’s a misdirection?

Pomegranatespompom · 11/04/2021 22:46

Maybe the race element is because all the bame policewomen are killed... Generally great characters too.

Ellmau · 11/04/2021 22:47

Lakewell obviously gave Steve info in the van
when did he get the time to do that?

In the time between their discussion about how nobody would know where the info came from and the hijack, there was quite a bit of time while Chloe noticed the vehicles etc.*

At the end when the camera went up high.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 11/04/2021 22:47

@thatsmyumbrellaellla

I thought the nod between lakewell and Steve was because it was obvious Steve had back problems in the van and lakewell hadn't mentioned it
No - he told Steve more than we were shown. I don't actually think Steve's back is bad. I think he's addicted to codeine and using his back as a reason for stocking up.
Pomegranatespompom · 11/04/2021 22:47

Too thin @WhoWants2Know

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 11/04/2021 22:47
@CheekyWeeShite I didn't meant the photo of Jo, I meant the big hidden secret one we don't see which prompts Ted's comment.

We'll have to agree to disagree, I'm not certain enough Steve said he. Will have to rewatch more tomorrow.
Subtitles (according to Twitter) have ‘he’

GuyFawkesDay · 11/04/2021 22:48

Chloe is definitely dodgy.

I think Jo is related to Dot, Tommy oraybe Andrew Laverty. There's got to be a loop back there somehow it all seems to point back to S1

wildthingsinthenight · 11/04/2021 22:48

Hmm Dryden is a thought..

Re Chloe I did wonder why she wanted to get Steve and Jimmy out of the van when they were in the safest place

GrandmasNightgown · 11/04/2021 22:48

@ChequerBoard

I think Chloe is definitely dodgy, she is the leak from AC12 that enabled the ambush to happen and her supposed inability to climb the van and open the door is what led to the death of Jonesy.
Also, opening an armoured vehicle door when you're under attack is extremely dangerous.

If a bullet gets in, it ricochets around inside the vehicle until it loses velocity. If several get in, it will cause a lot of damage, probably death, to the occupants. So if you knew there was a gunman at a window it would be a good manoeuvre if you wanted to increase the chance of death of the occupants. Assuming that the body of the car is not so damaged by earlier fire thar rounds start to penetrate, not ricochet,

Vehicles are bullet resistant, not utterly impermeable.

I think he told Steve, but Steve will tell no-one because he no longer knows who to trust. And he knows Hastings would act openly, so won't tell him until there is no advantage left in secrecy.

But as OCG think Lakeland was a rat, they'll assume Steve knows , so he must be a marked man.

LizzieMacQueen · 11/04/2021 22:48

Wasn't the bent copper from the Roz Hunter storyline, Hilton, he was Scottish wasn't he. Could he be the DNA link?

Oh, but you're ruling out members of the Police force?

Pomegranatespompom · 11/04/2021 22:48

Chloe was also very nervy in the van. Mind I would have been too

MysteriousAffairAtStyles · 11/04/2021 22:48
@CheekyWeeShite I didn't meant the photo of Jo, I meant the big hidden secret one we don't see which prompts Ted's comment.

I’ve rewound it a few times and I’m 99% certain he says ‘he’, but he doesn’t enunciate it clearly, which is presumably deliberate to keep people guessing.

I’m a bit annoyed by the scripting of that entire scene because it was stupidly convoluted and rammed full of obfuscation in order to conjure up the massive cliffhanger. Hmm

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 11/04/2021 22:48

I can’t believe Lakewell chose to go back to prison. What a mug. And I’m slightly disappointed that our heroes were too goody-goody to threaten him with hints that he’d cooperated, but then I’m a sucker for a hero with a ruthless streak.

If you want to very into mad tinfoil theory territory, when I was in central London after the BLM protests I saw a lot of graffiti saying ACAB, and also 1312, which my DC kindly explained to me is just alphanumberic substitution for ACAB. So does that mean AC12 is code for All Coppers Are Bastards/Bent? And the last revelation is that all three of our heroes are as corrupt as the people they’re investigating? (No, that’s clearly not what’s going to happen, but it makes you think).

ChequerBoard · 11/04/2021 22:49

Ooh ooh if it's a 'nominal' ie not a police officer but someone linked to a crime could it be Chloe as Gates' daughter??

ImAncient · 11/04/2021 22:49

@TolkiensFallow

To be honest I’m so confused that I’m at the point where I’m thinking it’s Carol Baskin
😂😂😂👏👏👏👏
Violetroselily · 11/04/2021 22:50

I would LOVE it if Dryden came back. Bit alas I don't think it's him.

WhoWants2Know · 11/04/2021 22:50

I think it's worth pointing out some of the info about Jo that was discussed on the Shrine podcast.

She keeps being pictured in this posh flat with a million locks and her laptop, which she uses to communicate with someone mysterious.

But it can't be her flat. It's too big and nice for someone on her salary. And the police had searched "her flat" at the same time as Buckles' and Farida's-- so they would have noticed the locks and examined the dodgy laptop. So whoever's posh flat she's in, it isn't hers.
