Anyone who actually says 'I went to a state school' is hyper aware that other schools exist. None of the kids I teach would say this. I think she probably learnt this from Cambridge, sadly.

If you're bright and work then you'll do well at a state school. It's not as though she's some over-achiever for going to Cambridge.
