@IntermittentParps

Horrible thought but I guess they assume she was scrabbling at the car window to get out ? That would be one explanation but a pathologist's job is NOT to assume anything. And the bruises to her neck aren't explained by that. I do wonder if there's something dubious going on even at the level of the pathologist lab. Or it might just be slightly lazy writing.
Well if her fingernails were broken it would be consistent with that unless Kate has asked them to scrape her fingernails. She was very clear with Ryan thats what they found plus bruises to her neck and he didnt flinch, not a flicker.

I hope Kate isnt next on his murder list.Sad

PrincessScarlett · 06/04/2021 14:47

@IntermittentParps Lomax is Chris Lomax, police officer on Jo Davidson's team.

It's worrying that Ryan has been left to continue policing as he could very well kill again. His body count is definitely mounting up. I can only presume Kate thinks he's dodgy but not necessarily a killer. But they know what he was capable of with Steve's torture so Kate could well be playing a very dangerous game.

IntermittentParps · 06/04/2021 14:51

That just makes me think, wouldn't they routinely scrape them? Especially if they were broken?

Thank you, PrincessScarlett, I hadn't twigged his surname.

ChocBeforeCock · 06/04/2021 14:55

Not exactly the most pressing issue in the show, but does anyone know why Hastings always wears uniform?

JustLyra · 06/04/2021 15:11

One thing that puzzled me about Kate interviewing Ryan was why has no-one asked Kate why she was there?

If any other officer had just happened to ask a question about the route and then just happened to be by the water around the time the car went in they’d been getting questioned, rather than doing the questioning surely?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/04/2021 15:30

@GoofyIsACow

Having rewatched i agree with the theory of Kate being deep UC. The glances and knowing looks etc. She definitely doesn’t trust JD.

I wondered that about the injuries on Lisa from the drowning @IntermittentParps The commendation thing was really weird.

I wouldn't have expected her to have injuries on the back of her neck from scrabbling at the car door - and they can tell a lot from bruising and fingerprint patterns these days.

Maybe more will come out. Perhaps she will even have a sliver of his skin beneath her nails - but of curse even if so, that could be explained by "Oh - she was desperately grabbing at me. She panicked" etc.

But I would have thought the bruising pattern would be very suspicious.

Of course, you didn't expect a rozzer to drown his colleagues, do you?

Ih he had her by the back of the neck she mightn't have been able to get much of a purchase on his hands - if she'd got a good scratch in, his hands would have been marked.

She could have blue serge under them from his uniform - but the water might have washed most of it out.

[quote Dailyhandtowelwash]Really sad news for anyone who enjoys the Guardian recaps.

that's so sad. I'd been rewatching from the beginning and reading her recaps.

SaintReatham · 06/04/2021 15:33

Yes, there are a LOT of questions that don't seem to be being asked. My interpretation of that is that Buckles seems to be in charge of the questions (which he doesn't want asked in any great detail), he's passed the job on to Jo (who similarly wants Lisa's death written off as a tragic swerving-to-avoid-a-rabbit accident) and she's passed it on to Kate, who is more suspicious but seems to be waiting for Ryan to lead her/AC12 to something conclusive, and she can't push the questions too hard while she's still UC.

PrincessScarlett · 06/04/2021 15:44

I think Kate just passed it off when questioned at the scene that she was just passing by coincidence. Then Jo gave her a funny look as if she didn't believe that.

Ulysses · 06/04/2021 15:47

On Ryan's notes that Kate and Steve looked at on screen there was mention of Terry as well so it's only a matter of time before they revise those and have confirmation that the two are linked and Ryan is in with the OCG. They'll use him to sniff them out.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 06/04/2021 15:55

I think there will be some findings from Lisa's autopsy that cast doubt on Ryan's story and possibly DNA evidence from Farida's house.

ultragroupie · 06/04/2021 15:57

@lokijet

Anyone else hear terry say "ian did it" after not me??
Me!! Late to this thread but yes I thought this

Not according to subtitles, sadly.

It was (iirc)

"he did it-the other man"

storminabuttercup · 06/04/2021 16:04

I've just watched that bit again and it does sound like Ian

storminabuttercup · 06/04/2021 16:05

Ryan is a wee shite pretending to go back in for Lisa.

OysterMonkey · 06/04/2021 16:09

@PrincessScarlett

Yes, she just said it was a coincidence she happened to be passing (a completely deserted reservoir and see a barely noticeable sunken police car and police officers in the water 🤔🤔!!)
JaneJeffer · 06/04/2021 16:24

I would ignore the subtitles for the "Ian did it" part because they wouldn't want to give it away yet. Someone is definitely going to rewatch it and realise what he actually said IMO. You could tell Jo did realise hence why he had to be bumped off afterwards.

Ulysses · 06/04/2021 16:29

Yeah I thought it was Ian too though get the point about the subtitles. She rewatches that part of the video too specifically.

diddl · 06/04/2021 16:37

I think that he says "I mean the other man. He um did it".

But it's not clear.

I can't see how Jo could take "Ian" from it & plausibly do anything with it?

And if he was saying Ian, why would Jo want him "bumped off"?

He's surely a liability because he has mentioned another man?

IntermittentParps · 06/04/2021 16:38

I think Kate just passed it off when questioned at the scene that she was just passing by coincidence. Then Jo gave her a funny look as if she didn't believe that.

Jo said something like 'funny you were passing' and Kate said 'yeah, bit of a coincidence' or somesuch.
Jo knows, and Kate knows Jo knows. I don't know if Jo knows Kate knows Jo knows though Grin

MagicSummer · 06/04/2021 16:42

@ChocBeforeCock

I think that when you join the Police you start off wearing uniform which you do as you rise through the ranks, but when you become a DC, DS or DI, you wear plain clothes. Then as you become more and more senior, you revert to uniform, like Ted and the woman DCC (can't remember her name - the one who works in the office with the Asian man). I think it maybe because they become more office-based. I may be wrong though!
GoofyIsACow · 06/04/2021 16:59

The podcast suggests something major happens next episode and lots of long standing questions answered this series.
I’m absolutely obsessed! 😂

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 06/04/2021 17:05

I think the sub-titling is wrong. Terry did say " "I mean the other man. He um did it".

Ulysses · 06/04/2021 17:21

I remember in The Fall Gillian Anderson appeared in her uniform once but the rest of the time it was gorgeous silk blouses.
