I’ve caught up with Obsessed with LOD podcast and now started Shrine Of Duty, very interesting stuff!

BooSurprise · 05/04/2021 16:34

@Piggywaspushed

Oh, boo, I'll go with your scientific explanation then. I am all for artistic licence but it just seemed a plot hole and made me laugh, which I am sure Jed wasn't going for!! When I was at school , a whole family drowned in a car in the Everglades Sad so I think I am overinvested in the impossibility of escape and I am guessing Ryan assumed he would be sole survivor. Seems a risk!

Being a female Asian officer does seem unusually dangerous in the world of LoD...

Is it just me that thought the whole discussion about trusting the lab staff had morphed into one of those dog threads??

I think your right tho, we were meant to think that Ryan would be the only survivor - on the assumption that Terry wouldn't have the ability to get out, and Lisa wouldn't be able to because of my window/door theory, and I think that would have been more believable in my head.
BlankTimes · 05/04/2021 16:56

I wonder why Jo suddenly got up to go to the loo when she was having a drink with Kate - it seemed "false" somehow and very definite - I expected Kate to look through Jo's handbag which was left in full view, but she apparently didn't

Would you leave your bag there and go to the loo?
I'd leave my coat on a seat, but never my bag, it's just too much ingrained habit/second nature, visit loo take handbag.

Yes i thought this would go a different way too, i was waiting for her to search the handbag
Fullofthejoysofspring · 05/04/2021 17:03

I think Jo was testing Kate to see if she would go through the bag or not.

Yes perhaps you are right, building her trust to maybe get her involved. I’m convinced Kate is going to meet a grisly end this season Confused
storminabuttercup · 05/04/2021 17:41

@iNeverFinishAnyth

Could the hairdressers that Steph Corbett bought into, be the one where Steve went when investigating Jackie Laverty, and Miroslav opened the door?
Itd be a hell of a commute. Mind you Steve is doing it a lot

So no idea what that was all about.

Maybe it was a test.

pearpickingporky84 · 05/04/2021 18:04

@EugenesAxe I have no idea what it means, hopefully not that, I’d be gutted if anything happened to Ted or Steve Shock

RoseAndRose · 05/04/2021 18:10

Its interesting that Steve asked her how she is managing financially -why?

So she has a share in a Hairdressers and works there PT .
Is she money laundering proceeds of OCG crime and thats her involvement?

Good spot. Jackie Laverty used to buy businesses of that sort for the CG

Just another theory but what if there is no H
What if they are all becoming H in one way or another and thats the point.
There is no good/ bad ?

Steve -addiction

Ted - if he did give the money to Steph because of Johns death, morally a good thing to do but corrupt action for a PO.
( still prefer the money laundering theory)

Kate -no idea as yet but might still be to come?

WhereYouLeftIt · 05/04/2021 18:42

"Very tense episode. I was thinking about the Tim Tams clue again and the fact that they come from Australia, to be possibly a hint to Steve ending up 'down under', ie dead?"

What's the Tim Tams clue (apart from one more thing I've missed)?

"I wonder why Jo suddenly got up to go to the loo when she was having a drink with Kate - it seemed "false" somehow and very definite - I expected Kate to look through Jo's handbag which was left in full view, but she apparently didn't"

I was expecting something very different Grin like an attack on the restaurant that would leave Kate incapacitated but Jo miraculously OK because she was in the loo.

Chrysanthemum5 · 05/04/2021 19:07

Ok so my random theory is that the PC from series 1 who appeared to befriend Ryan comes back in this series. Maybe he taught Ryan how to go under the radar and get into the police? So he's my pick for 'H' 🤔

NobbySignaler · 05/04/2021 19:13

Just another theory but what if there is no H. What if they are all becoming H in one way or another and thats the point.

There is a theory floating around that H is an organisational structure for the OCG, which I think is more plausible than the morse code stuff.

CupcakesK · 05/04/2021 19:14

Just had a thought, AC-12 started investigating Jo because of the stop for the armed robbery. Why haven’t they interviewed the robbers and why do we not know what’s happened to them? Not sure if this is deliberate or if all of the loose ends are not being tied up as usual

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 05/04/2021 19:41

Random coincidental fact regarding Tim Tam biscuits name.
The biscuits were named Tim Tam (by Ross Arnott) after the winner of the 1958 Kentucky Derby.

Tim Tam's pedigree lists the horse Teddy as both his maternal & paternal great great grand sire.

Probably got nothing at all to do with LoD apart from the names Arnott & Teddy.

Pomegranatespompom · 05/04/2021 19:45

Kate on way out - there’s only so many times she can say ‘Sorry boss’

YouKnobhead · 05/04/2021 19:50

Prompted by pp mentioning the possibility of and un-dead Gail Vella, here's a far fetched idea. She isn't dead. With her background in reporting police corruption, it's part of a deep undercover plot to try and get to the head OCG honcho.

Yes, we've been told about autopsy reports and how she dies, but with a bit of artistic licence, that could all have been fabricated.

MayIDestroyYou · 05/04/2021 20:02

I would certainly imagine that the murder method would have made her face difficult to recognise ... Would presumably need a forensics team who were in on the deception.

Dunno. It is far-fetched - but what else is fiction for?

TitsInAbsentia · 05/04/2021 20:48

@AllTheWayFromLondonDAMN

Glad to see return of Horndog Steve.
A horndog whose squeak has been removed from their toy Confused
LadyDangerfield · 05/04/2021 20:48

@Piggywaspushed

The OCG have a nasty sideline in saving DNA and planting it.
A pp mentioned earlier that Steph could be working for the OCG. If she is, then she could easily pass on Steve's DNA from loose hairs on her bed sheets. Just a thought when I read the above comment.
Blondeshavemorefun · 05/04/2021 20:49

@IstandwithJackieWeaver

Has she got John's pension though? If his death was considered to be in the LoD what would his widow get? She's not only got money to live on, she's invested in a business working only part time and there's a stack of cash in the attic. Something is not adding up.
I don’t think she invested in the hairdressers

Just she said that as didn’t want to say she got £50k a year or so ago

OP posts:
JustDanceAddict · 05/04/2021 20:54

@PrincessScarlett

And while we are on the subject of Steve in the attic, I did think he got up there rather easily considering he's in agony with his back!
Exactly! I watched it tonight and thought there’s no way his back could’ve handled that. I get bad back pain frequently and I could not do that in a flare up.
Templetreebalm · 05/04/2021 21:00

His back is better but due to his emotional issues hes addicted to codeine.
Hes not taking them because hes in physical pain, its the emotional pain and ED?

GoofyIsACow · 05/04/2021 21:06

@LadyDangerfield oh no! You are right! That’s what’ll happen! 🙈😩
