The door would open from the outside though so he could have reached out window and opened it.

Theres a barrier between front and back seats isn't there?

BooSurprise · 05/04/2021 14:51

@Piggywaspushed

But they didn't drown trapped! they got out!
Yeah I know, I assume through Terry did through the door that Ryan opened and when the pressure equalised Lisa opened her door too.....I'm far too invested in the details of this as driving into water is a fear of mine Shock
Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2021 14:53

Didn't it take.less time for Lisa to drown than Terry to escape...

That part was odd

BooSurprise · 05/04/2021 14:56

Yes he probably would have drowned by that point.
Above what was in my head, was that Ryan opened the window to allows him to open his door - assuming that Terry wouldn't have the ability to escape and Lisa's door wouldn't open for the pressure, and she would panic and drown before she could escape. I guess there is some artistic licence allowed

WhoWants2Know · 05/04/2021 14:58

I would have expected a barrier between the front and back seat too, but Ryan was able to reach up and jerk the steering wheel.

(Also overinvested in escaping from cars under water.)

Body cams would pretty much solve everything in LOD Grin

Body cams would pretty much solve everything in LOD Grin
But then we wouldn’t have the delight that is Steve and Kate figuring out who stabbed me plum in the kitchen.
Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2021 15:09

Or the " trust no one, except lab staff. Lab staff can be trusted when it's what we want to hear. Of it doesn't fit it's been tampered with" stuff.

No ones corrupt in pathology

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/04/2021 15:12

Me neither. Wee, nippy and on the drugs

Now he sounds like a jack russell who needs worming - even less tractive.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/04/2021 15:14

Scene: Bloke getting buturched and tortured.......
mumsnet poster: "ooo, I like the wallpaper

It's what we do best Grin

MayIDestroyYou · 05/04/2021 15:22

Lisa's lung capacity might have been smaller than Terry's. Also, she had already used a deal of energy trying to resist Ryan's attack, so was already weakened when he pressed her back underwater.

Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2021 15:28

Terry has physical disabilities though. And given the level of stress in the interviews and the reaction he gave it remained bizarre that he didn't panic in the same way and was able to get himself out and get to safety.

Leakinglikeacolander · 05/04/2021 15:30

Could someone remind me how they ended up at the scraptard looking for the freezer?

PawFives · 05/04/2021 15:34

Enjoyed that, some good callbacks to earlier series including the prison warden from series 2 (I think?) and the hairdressers as OCG money laundering set up. I wasn’t that convinced about Ted giving Steph the money , surely he knows it looks v. suspicious. Same as wiping his laptop, which just drew attention to it (if he hadn’t gone to the dodgy place to get it wiped would suspicions have been raised?). They’re definitely pointing us to series 1 aren’t they with repeated clips of Steve’s old boss.

VodselForDinner · 05/04/2021 15:37

Have we seen Chris?

Piggywaspushed · 05/04/2021 15:37

Oh, boo, I'll go with your scientific explanation then. I am all for artistic licence but it just seemed a plot hole and made me laugh, which I am sure Jed wasn't going for!! When I was at school , a whole family drowned in a car in the Everglades Sad so I think I am overinvested in the impossibility of escape and I am guessing Ryan assumed he would be sole survivor. Seems a risk!

Being a female Asian officer does seem unusually dangerous in the world of LoD...

Is it just me that thought the whole discussion about trusting the lab staff had morphed into one of those dog threads??

itsalifetimesworkfella · 05/04/2021 15:39

Steve would rather die than be bent

Come on now team, rally round. Our three are strong.

MayIDestroyYou · 05/04/2021 15:50

Yes ... I hope the creative team have thought properly about this. It would be concerning if particular people, not major characters, were seen as expendable.

Although, to be fair, coming into contact with AC-12 does rather presage a shortened lifespan for pretty much anyone.

FawnDrench · 05/04/2021 15:51

I wonder why Jo suddenly got up to go to the loo when she was having a drink with Kate - it seemed "false" somehow and very definite - I expected Kate to look through Jo's handbag which was left in full view, but she apparently didn't.
So no idea what that was all about.

The Steve and Steph non love-in is ludicrous IMO.
Just a plot ruse to bring in various OCG "reminders" from past series, and explain away some stuff - I'm probably wrong...
As if Steve would be tearing up and back to Liverpool 6 times a bloody week.
Also, he got dressed in all his finery without even going to the bathroom or having a shower, the dirty scally.

The lift at AC 12 which everyone seems to use should be known as "the lift of true emotion" cos every time the doors shut, the occupants break into a frenzy of torrid and haunting facial expressions.

TedisnotH · 05/04/2021 15:51

Jo knew where Farida lived, because she had lived there with her.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 05/04/2021 15:53

@Whatwouldscullydo

The only trouble with the dna is that surely that only works if there's a record of the persons dna . Like fingerprints ?

So if innocent people are being set up and the dna is the reason for the arrest then how is their dna even on record?

Most of the people who are being set up are cops. I think they explained in an earlier series that all cops give fingerprints and a DNA sample for their file when they join because their DNA may so easily end up on a crime scene.
TracyBeakerSoYeah · 05/04/2021 15:57

'H' is the hairdressers? The hair dressing salon being the key to solving the whole damn thing?

I was thinking last night that Chris looked very tired & that Ted reminds me of DI Frost (David Jason in A Touch of Frost) with his actions & doggedness with getting H & weeding out corruption.

iNeverFinishAnyth · 05/04/2021 16:00

Could the hairdressers that Steph Corbett bought into, be the one where Steve went when investigating Jackie Laverty, and Miroslav opened the door?

WhoWants2Know · 05/04/2021 16:03

It was definitely risky attempting to eliminate Terry by driving into a lake. But I think after the the ambushes in series 2 & 5, it would have been sus to do something like that without killing Ryan as well.

Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2021 16:05

What about the bodies though?

And when those girls were told to keep the condoms so presumably they can later be used to place dna at a crime scene, that would mean that there would have to be a record of that dna in the data base for it to work?
