Thought better do new thread. Hope haven’t jumped on anyone’s toes

OP posts:

I was too slow typing, @FourWordsImMuNiTy! 😂

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 05/04/2021 13:09

Mark Moffatt, dodgy ex copper, gave Ted 100K in a brown envelope to frame him for corruption. Ted hid half of it and later gave it to Steph, and Patricia Carmichael’s team found the other half. Nobody apart from MM and the OCG knows that there was ever another 50K - nobody believed MM when he said so at his trial.

LadyEloise · 05/04/2021 13:11

Thank you

Dailyhandtowelwash · 05/04/2021 13:24

You can lose a police pension if you do bad things. No guarantee she gets it.

Gail Vella’s body was found wasn’t it? She was shot at close quarters (hence the talk in the first episode about Terry’s clothes having gunshot residue on them).

BooSurprise · 05/04/2021 13:24

@Piggywaspushed

If the OCG were so keen to bump off Terry, why did they rely on such a non watertight (boom boom!) plan?? It relied on a window being rolled down, a grab for a steering wheel, Ryan escaping (through a very small part of the window!), Lisa and Terry just drowning.

Guns and balaclavas more efficient.

Oh, and also, the rolled down window was spotted by Kate as it was the only one open... how did Lisa and Terry get out of the car then??

Also, Ryan is shit at lying : he could ahve just said an animal ran out in front of them..

I think the windows was wound down, so Ryan could open his door, otherwise the pressure difference doesn't allow you to open the door against the water, as opposed to Ryan escaping through it. I guess as the other two would have seat belts on they wouldn't be able to escape as easily and would drown trapped.
Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2021 13:26

Does anyone know what this so called "threshold" of evidence level is?

I've noticed it seems to be quite variable. One minute the possession.of easily plantable evidence like a burner phone seems to be enough to release someone who sparked a massive chain of events impossible without her, or to say get Steve thrown in the cells, the next they seem.to require loads...

airforsharon · 05/04/2021 13:37

@Chrysanthemum5

So at the end of episode 3 where Jo is sitting at a table and the camera pans to the right as if it was about to look into a different room but then the credits came up. I wondered if there is something/someone in Jo's flat 🤔
Yes, me too I'm wondering if there's any chance Jackie Laverty is actually still alive, and the official Big Cheese of the OCG? Can't remember which of her (supposedly her) body parts have been found. And evidence can be planted/forged etc I know we saw her throat cut in S1 but a friend pointed out it was shown only from Lennie James's character (forgotten his name, tsk) pov, and he was on drugs or very drunk at the time, so a possible 'trip' not actual event? I think Gina McKee is a fine actor so i'd be very happy is she 'rises from the dead' this series.
Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2021 13:39

She was seen inside the freezer wasn't she?

In the warehouse place where Steve was tortured.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 05/04/2021 13:46

Jackie Laverty is not being resurrected. She is dead and parts of her at least were found with John Corbett's body.

Piggywaspushed · 05/04/2021 13:47

But they didn't drown trapped! they got out!

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 05/04/2021 13:55

That’s a brilliant idea airforsharon. In theory we know that the body parts found are Jackie Laverty’s because of the DNA match. But where did the DNA they matched the corpse with come from? It would be really easy for the OCG or Jackie herself to plant anyone’s hair follicle on the hairbrush on JL’s dressing table.

Unfortunately for this appealing theory I think we actually saw Jackie having her throat cut in series 1 didn’t we?

airforsharon · 05/04/2021 13:55

aha ok. I really need to watch the earlier series again
ChequerBoard · 05/04/2021 13:59

@IstandwithJackieWeaver

Yes, no way Jackie is coming back. We saw her get her throat slit in a very gory scene back in S1.

Buggerthebotox · 05/04/2021 14:00

Gates saw Laverty's body in the chest freezer in the deserted fire station, including her head.

Another fine performance from Gina McKee as the wheedling, manipulative Jackie and a great performance also from Lennie James as Gates (I don't like him in things usually, but he was excellent in this IMHO).

Piggywaspushed · 05/04/2021 14:17

The OCG have a nasty sideline in saving DNA and planting it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/04/2021 14:19

Cheers!

Have carried this over from previous thread, as it made me smile,

Someone on Twitter has spotted the most unbelievable twist in the plot.

Steve opened a packet of Paracetomal and didn't get the leaflet end! As if!

EugenesAxe · 05/04/2021 14:20

@pearpickingporky84 Shock

He's killed by Ted? Too obvious I reckon. Even that train of clues released from the QR code on the Gail Vella mag in the S6 trailer only ultimately led to teaser clips of Steve's meeting with his ex to discuss leaving AC12, and the dodgy betting shop diversion.

They're all about Steve though, isn't it...

EugenesAxe · 05/04/2021 14:21

Editing fail... 'aren't they' not 'isn't it'

Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2021 14:26

The only trouble with the dna is that surely that only works if there's a record of the persons dna . Like fingerprints ?

So if innocent people are being set up and the dna is the reason for the arrest then how is their dna even on record?

Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2021 14:30

Amd I don't mean elimination samples given on.arrest. I mean when they test befire they arrest anyone

MagicSummer · 05/04/2021 14:33

Would Jackie's DNA not have been either in the blood at her murder scene or on the glass on the tray where she had been drinking whisky with Gates in her sitting room?

Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2021 14:34

Someone.would have to verify it belonged to Jackie though wouldn't they?

Given gates affair and the conflict of interests would he be allowed to do that?

SaintReatham · 05/04/2021 14:34

Another thing that struck me last night was when Jo saw the police cars outside Farida's house and phoned Chris (?) at the office to ask what they were doing there - wouldn't it look strange for her to know so precisely where PC Jatri lived? There was a search of Farida's house (to find the burner phones), but presumably Jo wouldn't have gone on that. And even if she'd seen the address written down, would she have remembered it in sufficient detail to link it with some squad cars outside a random house?

Ellmau · 05/04/2021 14:38

If this is the penultimate series, I reckon we (the viewers) will find out who H is at the end of this series.

WhoWants2Know · 05/04/2021 14:46

I think the windows was wound down, so Ryan could open his door, otherwise the pressure difference doesn't allow you to open the door against the water, as opposed to Ryan escaping through it. I guess as the other two would have seat belts on they wouldn't be able to escape as easily and would drown trapped.

Ryan and Terry were both in the back seat of the police car. I don't think police cars have working handles in the back seat to prevent escape. So Ryan and Terry would probably both have had to get out through the window, or wait until the pressure equalised before opening a front door.
