Oops, missed that if course it's 9 Grin

PolloDePrimavera · 05/04/2021 11:25

Minou training from LOD is to an extremely high standard fella, we are all essentially covert officers awaiting Ted's call.

weewitch · 05/04/2021 11:27

Thanks @NewModelArmyMayhem18

itsalifetimesworkfella · 05/04/2021 11:49

It's 2050

LOD Series 29

Ted is a cyborg, programmed to say Letter of the Law every 15 minutes

Kate had no one left to say 'sorry boss' to so retired

Steve became the new Chief in Midsommer Murders series 105 as he craved neat endings

The letter H has been removed from the alphabet by parliament

SaintReatham · 05/04/2021 11:52

This £50k in Steph's attic - are we meant to think that Steve thinks it's something to do with Ted, on the basis of that overheard 'HMRC' mention in the Foyer of Eavesdropping? I feel it's a bit of a leap, if so: John Corbett was heavily involved in an OCG - there could be wads of cash all over the house, maybe even planted by them for incrimination reasons. (That's what I'd say if I was Steph, anyway. 'What, this? John always kept £50k in the loft, for carol singers, etc...')

And YES to the random animal running across the road as the 'reason' for the crash. Ryan's such a townie.

Its interesting that Steve asked her how she is managing financially -why?

So she has a share in a Hairdressers and works there PT .
Is she money laundering proceeds of OCG crime and thats her involvement?

Does Ted know this and she has agreed to keep the 50K for him in return for him keeping his gob shut.
Why would it be sat there if he gave it to her, it would be spent or run through the business.

We think he was looking out for her but what if he was looking out for himself ?

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2021 11:59

Yes, that came to my mind too. It would be gone, not gathering dust in the loft.

SaintReatham · 05/04/2021 12:11

Are we supposed to have noticed, using the forensic viewing approach, that it's the same envelope that Ted handed over at the end of the last series? Or not? Or that it's a different, newly acquired from the OCG, envelope of fifties?

I've got to admit I'm not watching with that level of mental application. Not on a Sunday night.

FIFIBEBE · 05/04/2021 12:14

I appreciate this thread has gone way beyond my very basic question now but how was the freezer (with JL's blood on it) found?

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 05/04/2021 12:16

I’m sure we are meant to assume that it’s the same envelope of fifties that Ted handed over at the end of last series, and that she’s cleverly spending it in dribs and drabs to eke out John’s pension without alerting anyone to suspicious transactions. Eg literally paying for the supermarket shop with two fifties every week.

That would be a bit boring 😂 Im calling it Shes a criminal mastermind and processes the OCG money via the Hairdressers . Ted knows and is counting on her to keep his 50K safe in return for his silence.
Chrysanthemum5 · 05/04/2021 12:43

So at the end of episode 3 where Jo is sitting at a table and the camera pans to the right as if it was about to look into a different room but then the credits came up. I wondered if there is something/someone in Jo's flat 🤔

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2021 12:48

I wondered about that too, @Chrysanthemum5!

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 05/04/2021 12:49

Has she got John's pension though? If his death was considered to be in the LoD what would his widow get? She's not only got money to live on, she's invested in a business working only part time and there's a stack of cash in the attic. Something is not adding up.

MayIDestroyYou · 05/04/2021 12:52

I've been waiting for the un-deceased Gail Vella to reveal herself in Jo's flat since ep1.

Losing patience, and hope, now ...

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2021 12:52

His death wasn't in the line of duty though. So she didn't get anything from the police.

storminabuttercup · 05/04/2021 12:53

Wasn't JL using businesses such as hair dressers etc as a cover up for her dodgy dealings?

Netaporter · 05/04/2021 12:57

@storminabuttercup my thinking exactly. The lock up shop that miroslav kept guard on...

storminabuttercup · 05/04/2021 12:59

@Netaporter yes, the OCG were using them. I wonder what happened to Laverty Holdings? Someone will have got it now I assume that Jackie is confirmed dead?

Netaporter · 05/04/2021 13:01

@EugenesAxe and @pearpickingporky84

Thank god someone else wondering about this! It kept me awake last week 😂

Chrysanthemum5 · 05/04/2021 13:02

That is an interesting idea!

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 05/04/2021 13:02

The investment money allegedly came from John’s life insurance. We don’t yet know whether it actually did come from that or whether the investment or the life insurance even existed. I’m assuming that Steph’s legitimate income from pension, benefits and perhaps the odd haircut would be enough for her to just about scrape by, and that she’s dipping into the attic envelope enough to go from struggling to comfortable.

As I said before the Steph situation doesn’t need to be any more complicated or murky than that because Ted giving her the proceeds of crime is already a horrendous breach.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 05/04/2021 13:03

I think she got the pension but not the death in service lump sum.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2021 13:06

I would think that the only thing she wouldn't have got is a death in service payment. He'd be entitled to a pension if he'd paid in, regardless of a dodgy death, though on what terms is unknown (he wasn't in the police long enough to get a full pension).

LadyEloise · 05/04/2021 13:06

Where did Ted get the money ?
