Ah Handwash I must have fallen foul of a fan theory then!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 05/04/2021 09:04

She’s obviously working for the OCG and AC12 should have been able to tell that way back. It’s no wonder the OCG is so out of control!

banano · 05/04/2021 09:04

@Dailyhandtowelwash thanks, that does make things a bit clearer. I just find it confusing when they keep describing him as a “good man” but can see it’s more to do with Steve seeing himself in JC (and less about the revenge torture!).

On S6 I keep switching between Joanne Davidson being either coerced by the OCG in the same way Tony Gates was, and her being a double agent for the OCG (an undercover cop pretending to be an OCG member pretending to be a corrupt officer).

I think the fact that Chloe was looking over at Steve/Kate when they discovered who Ryan was and his link to Tony Gates was deliberate and maybe supports Chloe being TH’s daughter, but not sure if it was a red herring. I think the tiles in Steph’s house were definitely a red herring. Jed Mercurio must know that fans will speculate over every little detail so throws these in to confuse us!

On ‘H’ - like a previous poster I get annoyed when they keep referring to H as a single person when I though the previous series it was confirmed that H was actually meaning “4 Dots” so there is no H?

They are everywhere!

In interior design news, I was very taken with Steph’s bed linen.

Sarah Hughes in the Guardian recap!

yoshiblue · 05/04/2021 09:07

Loving series 6 so far, they've really upped the pace since series 5 which felt a slower burner.

Watched it last night then announced to DH 'I'm off to bed to read the Mumsnet thread. I'll WA you with any extra clues!' Grin

PS Saw an interview with Jed Mercurio who said it's set in a 'generic city'. Series 1 filmed in Birmingham, then 2-6 in Belfast. He referenced not wanting to base it in a specific location to stop real police with similar names being targeted.

He also said that they do tend to shape series based on audience feedback and giving people more of what they want. I'm guessing more Hastings one liners for a start! I wonder if we can get our requests to him through this thread?!

Netaporter · 05/04/2021 09:09

I was also thinking about the magnetic letters on Steph’s board. We were shown three shots. Each time the letters had changed. Clues? As someone on Twitter pointed out It was also too high for kids to reach.. 🤔

Frazzled2207 · 05/04/2021 09:09

As well as being obsessed by s6 I am watching it all again from the very beginning an last night at 1am got as far along as the absolutely phenomenal tv which is the s3 finale. Kate hanging on to the side of the lorry to save the day while poor Steve is stuck in jail having been framed by Dot. I’m enjoying s6 but anyone else agree that s3 was the absolute peak?

Ulysses · 05/04/2021 09:14

I’m not sure what the take of Chloe being Gates daughter would cover. Is she supposed to be bent as well? I’m not convinced that this theory holds any water at all but welcome other takes on it.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 05/04/2021 09:15

Dot as the Caddy in series three was great to watch. On the podcast he pointed out that Ryan’s commendation echoed the one Dot gets when he fits up Hari Baines.

I’m really loving this series. Last one went way too action movie for me. Too many men in balaclavas in vans with guns in the dark. I entirely lost track of what was going on all the time.

Ulysses · 05/04/2021 09:15

I started watching it in Series 3 so yeah it was peak for me. I think it started out on BBC2 as well and it was after this one that it hot it’s promotion to BBC1.

longwayoff · 05/04/2021 09:16

I wrenched my lower back muscles on Thursday and have been on a codeine diet, lying flat, since then. OUCH. If there's a hooky £50k in my attic it will have to stay there. How the hell did Steve get into and out of an attic? Kate is heading for a thrown down the stairs scenario. Hope they don't kill her off.

AuntieStella · 05/04/2021 09:17

her being a double agent for the OCG (an undercover cop pretending to be an OCG member pretending to be a corrupt officer)

I like this theory - but wonder who has been her handler in the past. Because an operation like that would need a very long and controlled build up.

I'd guess that Kate is her new handler? Might account for some of the emotional charge, being in risky and complex roles together; and why it's not romantic (other than as a cover story?) but occasional concerns arise over the boundaries. It would also account for why Kate is wary of going near AC12 because what others think of her new (overt) role and loyalties is important.

Who would have ultimate control of an op like that? AC 9 (? - the one with the woman in charge)

Interviewedundercaution · 05/04/2021 09:39

Unlikely, surely, that Chloe is Gates's daughter AND Jo is whatsername's daughter?

OhWhyNot · 05/04/2021 09:57

Series three was absolutely brilliant. Dot was such a great character brilliant acting too he is missed

I would have liked to see Tim Iflield (Jason Watkins) in more episodes too

EugenesAxe · 05/04/2021 09:58

Very tense episode. I was thinking about the Tim Tams clue again and the fact that they come from Australia, to be possibly a hint to Steve ending up 'down under', ie dead?

I have a bad feeling that Ryan will be the undoing of him.

Or that they are a short version of a Penguin... is 'penguin' police slang for anything?! I realise I'm on Dusty Bin levels of riddling with that suggestion.

viques · 05/04/2021 09:59

@KihoBebiluPute

If I had a crime scene freezer to dispose of that’s what I would do.

Don't put a fridge or freezer in a crusher @viques - the coolant system could explode in a quite dangerous way.

Ah, thanks.

Canal dump it is then.

Grin

(Wonders how many body part contaminated freezers Kiho has got rid of on OCG orders to know this)

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/04/2021 10:41

What's interesting is that we've not knowingly seen any 'live' members of the OCG yet - and we've got episode 4 of series 6 already looming which leads me to think one is hiding in plain sight (other than Ryan)? What about Steph?

Piggywaspushed · 05/04/2021 10:42

If the OCG were so keen to bump off Terry, why did they rely on such a non watertight (boom boom!) plan?? It relied on a window being rolled down, a grab for a steering wheel, Ryan escaping (through a very small part of the window!), Lisa and Terry just drowning.

Guns and balaclavas more efficient.

Oh, and also, the rolled down window was spotted by Kate as it was the only one open... how did Lisa and Terry get out of the car then??

Also, Ryan is shit at lying : he could ahve just said an animal ran out in front of them..

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/04/2021 10:43

And do you think there's any possibility that Jo is the one who's deep undercover? Maybe framing Farida was her way of trying to keep her safe, hence her concern when she discovered Farida was in the prison hospital?

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 05/04/2021 10:53

It's not JM's style to have someone deep undercover and not tell us though. I think Jo thinks there's enough about Buckells to keep AC12 busy for a while.

weewitch · 05/04/2021 10:56

Can someone remind me why Farida is even in jail again? I don't remember why at all!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/04/2021 10:59

@weewitch all the burner phones were found in her house so they assumed that she was part of the OCG (but more likely Jo planted them there).

^ EugenesAxe

Very tense episode. I was thinking about the Tim Tams clue again and the fact that they come from Australia, to be possibly a hint to Steve ending up 'down under', ie dead? ^

Could be into something there, I was also worried by the TimTam being broken in two on the packet Shock
Jed has another ‘cryptic plot clue’ on Twitter which is someone in a forensic suit looking across the road towards ‘Arnotts’ which is a fruit and veg warehouse in Belfast, it’s pretty near where they were filming anyway but is on a street called Dunbar Street, could it relate to Ted as well?

GellerYeller · 05/04/2021 11:02

@EugenesAxe 'Dusty Bin levels of riddling' 😂. Brilliant!
Twitter is saying Ted's 'to the letter of the law... THE LETTER...' is a clue (or red herring?) The letter is 8 letters. The eighth letter of the alphabet is?!
