I love them both.

The Shrine of Duty episode comes out on Wednesday while the new BBC episode is already out.

Something bugging me. The interview with the woman who claimed she saw the argument with the CHIS the one who described terry as looking 'different' they showed her a pic of Carl Banks, she said it wasn't him but then they had to do a video parade for her to identify Terry? They had his pic why not use that?
Yes, seing they clarify details "for the tape" such as the fact people are nodding you'd have thought there would have been a bit more information sort of what "different" meant.

I know it was supposed to mean he had downs syndrome but it might have meant the man was wearing a silver pvc cat suit and orange top hat with wellies.

SophieB100 · 05/04/2021 08:21

When Steph was in her kitchen talking to Steve, there was a letter H in tile pattern behind her - just one tile. Did anyone else spot this? I can't do a screen shot. Plain tiles, then one had a dark H pattern. Another red herring?

CherryValanc · 05/04/2021 08:26

I really Shrine of Duty.

I listened to the Obsessed a few times several series ago. It does (or didn't) seem to delved into as much detail or do that much analysis, ft more like a brief chat. Didn't get any new take or realise I'd missed some detail from it. Plus the prester (not Dot at the time) said "like" almost every third word which I heard enough if from my teen!

The Shrine of Duty crowd put a lot of work into it!!

SophieB100 · 05/04/2021 08:26

Hopefully you can see the H on the tile here:

@banano

Not totally related to S6, but can someone help me understand about John Corbett and why he is now seen as a hero, especially by Hastings? He seems to have got over the fact that Corbett tortured his wife very quickly! Plus didn’t he shoot 3 police officers in the first robbery in S5 and then killed Hargreaves at the depot robbery, but everyone seems to be cool with that? I know he was lied to by Jill Bigglow that Hastings was involved in his Mum’s murder but that doesn’t really seem to justify torturing Hastings wife. Also did he get the police pension in the end? Which would indicate the police were totally fine with the whole thing.

Maybe I’m overthinking this, but it’s been bugging me for ages!

He’s not seen as a hero. He didn’t get his police pension or any pay off. I think Steve built a relationship with him over series 5 and could see elements of himself there.

Hastings gave Steph the 50k because of guilt over Corbett’s mother - he feels like he caused her to be killed and therefore Steph (and her daughters) are the only people left he can make things up to. That’s my take anyway.

Steve only went to see Steph after seeing her visit Hastings in episode one, as he wants to know what’s going on.

I thought it was because they can - better to do a video ID if possible, but obviously Carl Banks is too dead.
YouKnobhead · 05/04/2021 08:32

I also thought that was a bit odd with the dodgy witness - it was ok to show Carl Banks without making her pick him from a lineup, but not Terry Boyle?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 05/04/2021 08:35

A line up with Carl Banks in it would be a bit gruesome.

Clawdy · 05/04/2021 08:36

How did the evil warder get away with breaking Farida's wrist? Wouldn't she be in trouble?

poundoflard · 05/04/2021 08:37

@youknobhead
The witness couldn't pick carl Banks from a lineup as hes dead! As is the CHIS, so had to be photos

Was it the same one that burnt Lindsey dentons hands in the previous series?

Or it's a pay off to her.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 05/04/2021 08:50

Ah, yes, could also be. But it’s not because he thinks John Corbett was a brilliant police officer.

YouKnobhead · 05/04/2021 08:52

I know Banks is dead! I thought a video line up was a series of pictures?? I guess not! Then why is it a video line up not a 'normal' line up?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 05/04/2021 08:52

Was it the same one that burnt Lindsey dentons hands in the previous series?

Yep. And I’m pretty sure Denton told people at the time, so her continued employment is a surprise.

It’s a line up of suspects done over video link.
AuntieStella · 05/04/2021 08:56

Info on identity parades, and why video can be preferred

www.inbrief.co.uk/police/police-identity-parades/

(PS: suggests 'video' can mean stills as well as moving images)

NigellasGuest · 05/04/2021 08:57

From memory, wasn't there some kind of hint in the previous series about Corbett being Hastings' son? It turned out Corbett grew up in Northern Island where Hastings was, early in his career, or something? Hence Hastings giving the £££ to his "son's" widow, Steph??

AuntieStella · 05/04/2021 08:58

PPS: it wouldn't matter how they did the identity parade, as it seems likely the witness was bent. The result was always going to be Terry

Dailyhandtowelwash · 05/04/2021 08:58

Interesting!

30not13 · 05/04/2021 08:58

@lokijet

Anyone else hear terry say "ian did it" after not me??
I thought that. Or Liam possibly.

The dates didn’t work at all. It was a fan theory but not right.

I think this warden is an OCG insider and I suppose there is no proof she broke Farida's wrist, she can say it happened any way and she's protected by the OCG? Mother of God the OCG are everywhere I tell ya!
