Who knows what sparks may be flying if they're all locked down together... I definitely think there's flirting going on though

Also glad everyone else is noticing the excess hobbies now (where do they find the time?!). I always try to guess which ones are real and which ones not so much.

Don’t knowif anyone can help but the fabric Jean used fr the first challenge - it had boats on. I’d love to know where it was from.

Impressed with damien's handmade buttons. He's still annoying, mind.

Andrew is going to fail because he can't make womens clothes. Adam and especially Raph have an eye for form, even without the experience but Andrew hasn't a clue and seems a bit intimidated rather than up for the challenge.

Maybe next week will be his chance to shine?

I do have a pattern for paperbag shorts and trousers (megan nielsen Opal pants) but I'm not making the paperbag waist for myself because, as a 50 something sewer, I have enough clutter around my midriff, tyvm! It is the sort of thing I wore 35 years ago, though, when I was 7 stone soaking wet - usually sold by C&A!

Nor me. If you are shorter than 5'11", and weigh more than 6 stones, a paper bag anything makes you look like a blimp.

I do think Damien the Token Heterosexual Man was cast more because he’s good telly than for his sewing ability. I can’t believe that there wasn’t a very dull middle aged female applicant who could have done better.

Do you remember the Buddhist Prison Chaplain from a previous series who had a fascinating job but didn’t actually survive the first challenge?

Yep - he went off sick (Allegedly - I think he knew he was greatly outclassed and couldn't bear the humiliation. Lightweight

I really didn't like Adeena's dress. The fabric was horrible, drab colour and it looked frumpy. Im guessing it was based on the quality of the sewing which is fair enough.

I definitely think Joe and Adam are quite flirty with one another. It would be nice for them to find love on Sewing Bee.

Though Damien did a good job overall given the disaster of last week. They're a lovely bunch. All a bit bonkers but lovely.

I don't think there's any spark between Joe and Andrew. Joe is like that with pretty much everyone.

Had Raph ombre dyed that fabric himself or was it bought that way. It was very pretty.

Well no, Joe hasn't been flirting with Andrew. He's old enough to be his dad and seems very settled. Definitely some major flirting between Joe and Adam and minor frissance between Joe and Raph.

Late to join in, but I actually bought an overlocker ( in addition to my trusty Brother sewing machine) as a result of watching GBSB. It is so useful!

And Joe just flirts.

Lawratu's is nice, but is too small for the model/ big on the chest.

Loved Damien's print and beautifully done, but I hate a dropped hem with a passion.

Jean's looked gorgeous from a distance, but up close was horrific! But she's so lovely - genuinely eccentric, I think.

Adeena's - fabulous - so elegant. But you couldn't skip round the beach in it. She seemed so thrilled to have done it, too - seems a very anxious (in a perfectionist sort of way) girl. I love her.

Liked Rafe's lobters. (But not his shorts)

Farie's fabric was gorgeous - I love that waxed cotton stuff.

Serena's lovely. And Rebecca's.

Adam's looked stunning, but I would have gone for the little buttons.

Can't remember Mr Vicar's, I'm afraid.

And Catherine's was nothing startling - she was so keen to point out she'd matched the pattern, but TBH on that tiny ditsy print it didn't matter, you wouldn't notice.

Joe flirts with everyone!

Mr. Vicar's was really boring, I think he'd added the black belt but it was not on the waist and it showed.

Who was it that mentioned all the additional hobbies? How many of the contestants came up with their additional hobbies just to make the cut?

MC "That's easy, my interesting hobby is sewing, I love ir, spend all my spare time on it"

SBP "Hmm, we were hoping for something that was actually interesting or quirky. Belly dancing perhaps, or ultra marathon running, or a street theatre performer?"

MC "Sorry, nothing like that. Sewing is my passion and I really think I'm good enough to apply to be Britain's best sewer. That is my interesting hobby"

SBP "Well your pintucks are perfect, your seams seamless, and your hems h'amazing. But sewing as a hobby? It's just so dull, no ones interested in that, come back next year when you've found something quirky to do.,,, [turns to other applicant] Now Johnny, tell us more about your underwater punk band.What's that machine over there, it's a sewing machine, but don't worry about that, we'll explain how to use it later."
