@PickAChew

Yes, not looking at the fabric until just before was terrible planning. I have a tendency to spend a lot of time stroking my fabric before using it, though. I have some of that heavy navy spotty fabric that someone used, slightly wonkily, in the first round and that is particularly lovely to touch and gaze at.
I think we may have been separated at birth . . . Grin

@Juliettbravo

I didn't mind damien tbh. We've got plenty of them like that up here in bolton Grin He just seemed like a big overexcited dog ....
I love big overexcited dogs, but they have to be smacked hard on the nose sometimes just to teach them some basic manners . . . Grin

I actually didn't mind him as much as some of the other viewers seemed to, but I did think he should have been the first one to go. Julie panicked when she saw her fabric and didn't think, I think.

I'm like that - I have everything planned out in my mind, and if anything unexpected happens, I'm stuffed!

PickAChew · 15/04/2021 16:47

Julie panicked in the transformation round, too, didn't she?

I thought Andrew's dress was quite poor, despite the crochet adornment. It just didn't sit right at all.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/04/2021 16:51

She did PickaChew - that black and blu monstrosity was . . . hideous . .

And that's the kindest thing I can say about it.

SoupDragon · 15/04/2021 16:52

I think Julie had a complete brain freeze in the transformation round. Angillia did the same last year.

I wonder if Damien was maybe badly represented by the editing as they already knew he'd messed up with his speed and bouncing straight into things. I do think there is a fair chance he will be just as annoying next week though :o

That said, I like them all this year really.

Binglebong · 15/04/2021 17:31

That sounds unfortunate LIZS!Grin

Are they getting to do the practice they usually would between shows? Even if there are enough sewing machines for everyone in their bubble they are going to be conscious of not wanting to disturb each other and not having the privacy you sometimes need when you really fuck it up.

MoltenLasagne · 15/04/2021 18:42

Hurray for foldline and their sewing pattern genius! Although I think I still prefer the D&D Myosotis dress suggested by @PickAChew

Haggisfish · 15/04/2021 19:50

I think Damien will be out next. I like everyone though.

2Rebecca · 15/04/2021 20:29

Watching late. Sex not gender Esme

HeronLanyon · 15/04/2021 20:39

I corrected her in my head also.

2Rebecca · 15/04/2021 21:00

I have Rebecca's buffet dress pattern! Simplicity S8875. She's making view A. I made view B in silk. I need to make a new front panel for it as I got grease on it and ruined the dress trying to get it out.

Poshjock · 15/04/2021 21:15

Just checking in very late. I’m on “special duties” at work until Saturday and I am very busy and stuck away from home without access to a tv, I’m missing loads it seems! Looking forward to catching up and reading the thread (I stopped reading before I got any spoilers). See you all next week.

exLtEveDallas · 15/04/2021 21:20

I missed this thread when watching, so posting now to make sure I can catch it next week.

Loved some of the shell tops, simple but nowhere to hide mistakes. I thought the child’s 3 tier skirt was the best t shirt transformation, but not edgy enough I suppose. The right person left, but I wish it had been Bolton boy.

Discovered my sewing machine was dead during lockdown - damp has ruined it and I don’t really sew enough to justify another Sad so I’ll be a frustrated sewer (yes, eww to that) this series.

TokyoSushi · 15/04/2021 21:59

Yay! I've been avoiding you all, all day but now I've caught up and can check in! Absolutely LOVE Sewing Bee, looks like it's going to be another fab series!

Mydogisagentleman · 16/04/2021 08:41

Managed to catch up this morning after finishing work late last night.
I am hopeless at names, but love Seren/a and Raph

SimonJT · 16/04/2021 12:13

@terrywynne I don’t think he has really sewn before, he does work with fabric, but more buying etc but he knows how to handle it etc. He did start a little sewing insta in August, hes normally quite busy, so he wouldn’t have a huge amount of spare time for it.

iklboo · 16/04/2021 13:03

Oooh exciting you know Raph @SimonJT. You're a celebrity by association now Grin. I absolutely loved his dress. Beautifully dyed & sewn.

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 16/04/2021 13:04

I loved all the made to measure dresses Smile lawratu and Serena are my favourites at the moment.

I find that so impressive! Obviously knowing how fabrics handle helps but there's much other stuff in sewing. I can't imagine being able to go on the Sewing Bee this year after learning to see last year!

Roussette · 16/04/2021 13:11

Wowswer SimonJT that's excellent.

I can't wait for next week, I need to have a favourite and it takes a few weeks to get to that point

ElspethFlashman · 16/04/2021 14:35

Damian drove me mad but his dress actually was flattering to the model.

Perhaps he does have a girlfriend after all?? Some of the other lads don't look like they have much experience fitting the female form.

It fitted well but I didn't like the design.

I was expecting the model to be accompanied by an 80s glam metal band!

French guy said he usually makes menswear didn't. He might find it difficult!!

SimonJT · 16/04/2021 16:07

@ContinuousMonotoneBeep He makes clothes for his boyfriend, lots of outer wear and corduory, the odd rainbow romper 😂

What made him apply for Sewing Bee with so little experience? That was brave!!

SoupDragon · 16/04/2021 17:03

I want to apply for the camaraderie and the hope that Esme, Patrick and Joe would be my new best friends.

We will gloss over sewing ability for now.
