And while I loved Raphaels dress it was not exactly "fitted"!! It wasn't really a fitted style, it just had to fit the shoulders and the bust so should have been a fairly easy Fitting challenge to start them off.
It didnt really fit there, one wrong move and it would have been off. It would have been great as a cover up over a bikini on ones private yacht perhaps. Not at Skeggy she'd have been airborne!!

I bought a dress from M&S a couple of years ago that I only now realise is a buffet dress. I look like a marquee that has broken free from it's ropes when I'm walking along, but it's nice and cool in hot weather because it only really touches my skin at the shoulders.

I am just imagining being the model for one of them with a mannequin made exactly to my shape. (doesn't bear thinking about)

Then spending the next days/weeks scoffing anything in sight and the mannequin is now nothing like me and 'my' contestant has to put panels in to make anything fit

That was a very good first episode, its good to have it back. We know Raphy, so it was lovely to see him do so well as he has had to keep everything a secret for a long time.
He came across as a nice guy - did he really only take up sewing during lockdown though?!

Liked the garment of the week as I love a bit of broderie anglais but not the mustard colour so much

And I do love Joe's old school camp humour with his sailors and cruising jokes.

Julie needs her own show! She has a voice straight out of a Victoria Wood sketch and I say that as a fellow Northerner.
I have to admit, I did wonder if she has a friend called Kimberley... Grin Why on earth didn't she leave the buffet dress unlined (as Raph and they guy who made the sheer chiffon dress did) and just ask her model to wear a slip under?? Confused

I hope Damien calms down and stops being such a cocky little sh*t; his attitude was grating on me by the end of the episode. (God help his girlfriend if that's the standard of the clothes he makes for her)

Otherwise, loved it

I think the fabric choices with their holes and sheerness might have come as a surprise to some as they made a point of saying that they'd had to order online rather than choose appropriate fabrics bu sight and feel. Maybe some arrived earlier than other.

I'm hoping the fold line website does a run down of the patterns again for the 2021 series. I ended up purchasing loads last time and still have only made about half of them.

I'm liking the idea of a buffet dress if only as a post maternity outfit that means I don't have to squeeze into anything from my pre-pregnancy wardrobe...

I'm minded to see if Damien is as annoying in the next episode or if it's just nerves. I once got so nervous I found myself speaking with a fake posh accent so god knows how awful I'd be if I got on TV.

If you don't have them, @Moltenlasagne, have a look at mysotosis and the wilder gown. Tilly and the buttons Indigo dress would be a good option, with a little adaptation, too.
