Julie is making my First Holy Communion dress.

Roussette · 14/04/2021 21:40

I love Cruiseguy's material.

Halsall · 14/04/2021 21:41

Oh my Lord, that granny crochet neckline 🤮

dillite · 14/04/2021 21:41

@SoupDragon

How is something so loose "made to measure"?
That's the funny thing- if you don't make it right and don't put darts in the right placea, it just ends up looking like a giant sack. You have to know where to go loose and where to fit.
NutellaEllaElla · 14/04/2021 21:41

I might need to make something with Broderie Anglaise

Wolfcub · 14/04/2021 21:41

Oh god Damien is making a 70s porn dress

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/04/2021 21:41

Good ol' Damien!

Hammering a dress together.

3CCC · 14/04/2021 21:41

Surely if you're on this show you order the material weeks in advance and look at it before the morning of the challenge. Not there and then realise you're borderie Anglaise material has too big a hole in it thus needing lining

jay55 · 14/04/2021 21:42

Damian, 70s curtain material.

Roussette · 14/04/2021 21:42

Every single one of these would make look as big and round as a bowling ball

EsmaCannonball · 14/04/2021 21:42

I've never heard of them either. I'd probably hear it as 'loose-fitting Buffy dress' and make something very 1990s in baggy lilac satin, paired with a crucifix and clunky black heels.

NutellaEllaElla · 14/04/2021 21:43

Yes I couldn't possibly wear one

dillite · 14/04/2021 21:43

You would be very fashionable! Because that's the whole point of a buffet dress.
Roussette · 14/04/2021 21:43

Gosh... vicar's partner.... hate the material of his dress, a dead ringer for one of my old mum's tablecloths

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/04/2021 21:43

I don't like bell sleeves.

I always get them in the gravy.

Wolfcub · 14/04/2021 21:43

Love Lawratu's fabric

Is this gypsy dresses renamed for the PC generation? I ahve always called these either Boho or Gypsy dresses.

Chrysanthemum5 · 14/04/2021 21:44

Love the pockets - lots of room for hiding food at the buffet 😂

Jellykat · 14/04/2021 21:44

Rooting for French man here.

Roussette · 14/04/2021 21:44

dilitte You are being too kind. It would be a horror I promise!

NutellaEllaElla · 14/04/2021 21:44

Looks more voluminous to me

Maireas · 14/04/2021 21:44

All the younger women at work wear these dresses. Lots of flounce and ruffles.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/04/2021 21:45

Yes - I'd call them a gypsy dress, too.
Bouledeneige · 14/04/2021 21:45

I'd call them prairie dresses. Never heard of a buffet dress.
