I want to like Bobby, but I can't warm to him at all. He is a bit strange , which is understandable I guess!
Kathy is good with him. She has forgotten all about Ian.
A ginger baby.
No offense to any red heads at all , but it was the first thing I thought when I saw that magazine cover, although Max is bald! Where is Olly these days ?

Sharon's half brother is annoying , he has the most unusual mouth.
Nancy looked so fit in her gym gear. Makes me realize what I could achieve if I actually went ..

eatsleepread · 05/05/2021 07:00

Is it my imagination, or are the episodes these days really short? It feels about 20 minutes long rather than 30.

cuteglasses · 05/05/2021 07:11

Wasn't Linda treated for cancer of the cervix some time ago?

Yes some of them are only 20 minutes long, some even just 18 minutes! It was a decision they made during covid. I think because they were working with a reduced cast and SD and all the extra measures meant limiting how much they could produce.
SoupDragon · 05/05/2021 08:05

That was the cover story for when she was pregnant last time I think. She went to her mother and that part of the story was there. Then I think she was worried about it again "on screen" and it was fine?

WRT where"s Ollie, I imagine they are limiting the on screen time of the youngest actors for Covid reasons.

Yes - the short episode times are due to the amount of post-production stuff they need to do to splice scenes together where the actors were filmed one at a time and do whatever they do to make sure the Perspex screens aren't visible.

SoupDragon · 05/05/2021 08:08

I wonder if the baby will turn out to be Mick's anyway (a re-run of the Ollie story) or whether he will accept the baby in the same way Linda has accepted Frankie (obviously very different scenarios though!). Or if Linda will leave.

Akire · 05/05/2021 10:05

The soap dilemma... someone has a baby they don’t want. Someone is desperate for a baby what could they possibly do!

eatsleepread · 05/05/2021 10:14

@UhtredRagnarson

Thanks! Smile

iknowimcoming · 05/05/2021 11:11

@Akire - if rainy and stu adopted Linda's baby it would be related to baby Abbie by being her .............. half-aunt? Or would that just be aunt? The new baby would be Abbie's half sister therefore baby Abbie would be the niece of the new baby - have I got that right?

Obvs can't happen cos Linda and stu aren't exactly best buds buuuuttttt

Oh gosh , I didn't think of that re the parentage of Linda's baby.
I forget who has had which child with who sometimes! Max has a few children and is turning into Boris Johnson on the paternity front!

Spidey66 · 05/05/2021 11:50

I'd forgotten about Linda having cervical cancer. So, it seems, has the scriptwriters. Surely this and/or the treatment would affect her ability to get pregnant? She gave Nancy;s DOB as being early 90s (when she rang the doctor pretending to be Nancy). This would mean Nancy is nearly 30. Aren't the boys older than her? Even if she had them young, surely sh'd be well into her 40s now when her fertility is declining and that's without being treated for cervical cancer?

I'm not sure about the ins and outs of treatment for cervical cancer but obviously a hysterectomy could have/would have been an option (depending on what stage she was at) but clearly this didn't happen or else it was forgotten about!!!!

Spidey66 · 05/05/2021 11:53

Right so according to the NHS website
www.nhs.uk/conditions/cervical-cancer/treatment/
she could have had her cervix removed maybe alongside radiotherapy, which means she can get pregnant in the future asopposed to a fully hysterectomy

Spidey66 · 05/05/2021 11:57

Or maybe Ruby Murray will adopt the baby?

Though there will be no blood connection there....I don't think. Everyone seems to be related to everyone else on the Square, I've lost track

Ahh but they have magical fertility water in Walford so that even formerly infertile women in their 50’s like Sharon can have babies. I’m waiting for Kathy to announce next.

Not blood, but Martin's daughter, Bex is Max Brannings great niece via Sonia)'s mother Carol. Which I think makes the baby Bex's aunt...?
Akire · 05/05/2021 12:37

What relation is Max to Martin? Just his ex wife’s ex? And his other ex wife’s uncle? Adopted half sister/auntie via your grandad lover sounds perfect soap land relationship.

the80sweregreat · 05/05/2021 13:14

When an actress is pregnant in real life it must be hard to write it in to the plots or write them out for their mat leave! They could have done something else here : Linda off to see her mum with Olly for example or something up with Lee or Johnny and having to see and stay with them. The idea that a women who already has four children wouldn't have taken the morning after pill or made Max use contraception that night is laughable : she willingly sought him out to sleep with him so it wasn't ' unplanned' on her part.
Instead she's now on child number five! Doh
No wonder Nancy wants to be sterilized!

Akire · 05/05/2021 13:19

They manage with kids for the last year, Just be out shopping or in the bath. Lots of shouting upstairs or on the phone. Job done!

SoupDragon · 05/05/2021 13:19

What relation is Max to Martin?

I do actually think there may be no blood link at all (rare for EE!). So, just via ex/current wives.

the80sweregreat · 05/05/2021 13:22

Yes, there is Ruby and Rainie both wanting their own children ( even though Rainie has baby Abbie ) and Linda adding to her brood! They never get what they want in EE do they? Lots of children knocking around ( including Pearl Mika and Ray who we also never see )
Ruby is now Ruby Fowler and her maiden name was Allen.
I'm shocked that Tiffany isn't pregnant yet too!
( or Whitney)
They need a crèche on the square.

iknowimcoming · 05/05/2021 13:50

Mind you if stu/rainy or Martin/ruby adopted Linda's baby they'd never be able to travel in a car again! Adoptive parents of Albert square babies ALWAYS die in car crashes and then the babies have to go back to their biological parents GrinGrinGrin

RJnomore1 · 05/05/2021 14:25

According to Wikipedia lee is 28 and Nancy 27. I thought frankie was 30 making mick 12 when she was born is she a bit older? 32?

RJnomore1 · 05/05/2021 14:25

Sorry and 42 now meaning he had 3 kids by 16 😯 Johnny is younger isn’t he

the80sweregreat · 05/05/2021 14:33

Mick became a dad at 12 :(
Not that he was aware of it of course.
I like Frankie but Nancy is annoying me somewhat. She carries on as if she is a young teen although I can see her point about the op and L's reaction to it to be fair. It's just her general attitude I find a bit grating.
I Wonder if she'll hook up with Sharon's half bro ( forgotten his name) who clearly fancies her in her trendy gym tops!
I want them to find Bailey : another victim of poor parenting.
There are a lot of stories on the go.
