Those owners who couldn't look after their dog cos they were building a house 😠☹️😳

My heart bursts with this programme
They're all so adorable!!! ❤️😊❤️

I watched for the first time last night. I've recorded the series. What a heartwarming series.
Wood Green looks so nice and the staff so caring.
What gorgeous dogs.
The Mum with the two boys was so lovely. I'm glad they got a dog suited to them.
The couple who took the little puppy home - they were so well matched.
Kevin the pup needed so much affection and they had it in spades.
Heartbreaking that they may never have the children they wanted because of his cancer.
I couldn't believe the recently widowed older lady with her long list went for the greyhound/ lurcher.
She was so specific about what she didn't want. Lovely to see her happy.

purpleme12 · 23/03/2021 11:52

Yes it was rather a long list wasn't it!

Some of those wee dogs are gorgeous.
Loved that little boy with his Mum and step mum. So glad they got such a gorgeous dog.

Stellaris22 · 26/03/2021 13:18

Poor little Grant, the staff are so caring and clearly love the dogs in their care. He couldn't have gone to a better home, I loved how patient and understanding his new owners were when meeting Grant.

kerkyra · 26/03/2021 18:41

Was Grant the little one with big ears? What lovely new owners, they were over the moon with him.
He looked so well and happy at the end.

Stellaris22 · 26/03/2021 18:50

Grant was the stray who had been left in a field, he had suspected mange and his little face looked incredibly sore.

Ellmau · 26/03/2021 21:25

Grant was adorable.

I was a bit worried that the patterdale puppy wasn't a good fit for the family, but they seemed to have settled in well in the postscript ;)

@Ellmau

Grant was adorable.

I didn’t think they were at all suitable for a puppy. But maybe the way it was edited. At the end they looked like they were doing fine with it. A puppy is sooo easy to rehome. I fell in love with Grant. The couple who took him were lovely and he was so happy
purpleme12 · 27/03/2021 10:30

It didn't seem like they were going to be ok with the puppy but at the end it seemed good

Yes the couple who had Grant came across really nice. And a canal boat just seems so idyllic!

I'm glad Sonia the lurcher found a home as she was incredibly sweet, but I have a huge love of pointy dogs anyway. I thought the lady was very silly to expect an instant, emotional connection with a dog.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 02/04/2021 06:42

I couldn’t believe that lady! She was all over Sonia at first and saying how lovely she was and getting kisses (which I thought Sonia was very kind to oblige with since the lady was sticking her face right in and practically begging for them about five minutes in) and then a few minutes later saying how worried she was because the poor dog ‘wasn’t looking at them’. Like she wanted to be the centre of the dog’s universe within minutes. It really annoyed me and I’m glad Sonia found a home elsewhere actually.

LadyEloise · 02/04/2021 08:45

I'm a bit Shock that that lady didn't take the lovely Sonia.
Poor Sonia with her bad leg. I wonder how she is doing and I hope she is happy in her new home.
I hope too that lady got a dog.
The genuine excitement of the children is a joy to behold ( as is the excitement of some of the dogs ).
I am amazed at the assortment of dogs available at the rescue centre.
Very different to rescue centres near me which seem to have a lot of Staffies, Staffie crosses and German Shepherd Xs, with very very few small dogs available.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 02/04/2021 08:50

It’s more of a ‘first dates’ rescue centre isn’t it? I don’t think it’s very true to life of most rescue centres at all....

purpleme12 · 02/04/2021 09:42

I don't it's true to life at all
They'll have thought about what's good for the programme with regards to how it's done for the programme

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 02/04/2021 09:42

*doubt not don't

OP posts:
SmidgenofaPigeon · 02/04/2021 09:47

So so you think those rescue dogs are plucked from other centres to Star on the show? I always thought that but DH says I’m cynical Grin

I get annoyed with some of the people on there. A lot wanting a very sudden and intense connection and often with a list of what they find desirable and what they don’t want (and what is wrong with poodles?? They are fantastic dogs!) and then it seems like if the poor dog is overwhelmed or not clambering into their arms on the first meet they write it off.

purpleme12 · 02/04/2021 09:54

I know the meeting area was purpose built for the show
I just mean that it's more showy for the show if that makes sense
And all more rigged for the show

OP posts:
lazymum99 · 02/04/2021 10:05

So is was so happy when she saw the other dog. I can’t understand people who think rescue dogs who have been traumatised will just immediately open their hearts to you. Part of the joy of taking a rescue is seeing the dog start to relax and trust you. Most dogs don’t like to look you straight in the eye whether rescue or not.
The 11 year old boy with the pug was the most sensible in the whole program

lazymum99 · 02/04/2021 10:05

Typo: Sonia was so happy

SmidgenofaPigeon · 02/04/2021 10:05

Definitely agree about the boy who ended up with the pug, and his mum too. Everyone else was a bit full on.

EvilPea · 02/04/2021 10:09

@purpleme12

I have a feeeling so much more goes on behind the scenes than we see which makes it just like a normal rescue. But they do the checks etc pre show.
Besom · 02/04/2021 10:18

I'm just watching this now for the first time. Wee Grant has just arrived. Tearing up!

purpleme12 · 08/04/2021 20:57

I loved that Lurcher! Beautiful dog.

Stellaris22 · 08/04/2021 21:43

Trinity is absolutely gorgeous. I was so annoyed at the owner bringing her in and saying 'she needs to sort out her issues'. No, you need to put in the work. And she's clearly very biddable and keen to learn. The original owners got her at six weeks as well.
