Those owners who couldn't look after their dog cos they were building a house 😠☹️😳

Were you on it?

dannydyerismydad · 24/04/2021 10:41

No. Not at all.

DH can't be persuaded that a dog is needed in our lives, so I'm trying to brainwash him with the waggy tails and big eyes.

Lauren15 · 24/04/2021 10:46

@dannydyerismydad

I'm mean more the timeline from the dog arriving at Wood Green to being matched, to going home.

It's clear a dog wouldn't go home same day, but I expect quite a few families will do several visits to make sure.

Sometimes we criticise people who turn down a dig because there didn't have a connection, but I think it's very possible those families are making that choice after spending a considerable amount of time with the dog. The edit makes it look like they spend 10 minutes playing with a ball and then say yes or no.

I love the vibe of the show. It's really positive and without the sob stories you usually find on animal programmes, but the format can paint some potential rehomers as fickle.

I think it might be useful if they explained that to the audience.
magicstar1 · 24/04/2021 11:27

I agree about the connection. I spotted our dog last year on a rescue website and showed DH...this is the one for us. But when we met her, she barked and snarled at me, was very skinny with teats hanging right down, bald patches all over and was in an awful state. It did scare me.
But we said yes and took her home, and she’s the most loving, beautiful girl now. I just posted a pic of her then and now and she’s like a new dog. It just took a bit of patience and some time.

Zoe's eyebrows 😍

baldafrique · 29/04/2021 20:55

Poor Zoe!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 29/04/2021 21:59

Poor Zoe!!

Loved the other two dogs as well 😍

lazymum99 · 29/04/2021 22:12

It’s become Celebrity Dog house tonight

theliverpoolone · 29/04/2021 23:44

I thought Victoria Pendleton seemed lovely. They were so pleased with their gorgeous dog.

Poor Zoe! She just looked like part of the family when she was sitting with them Sad. I hope next week really is third time lucky for her.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/04/2021 07:56

I was laughing at them chasing the lurcher over the site 🤣 of all the dogs to escape it had to be a lurcher 😫🤣

VP did seem lovely and her mum, perfect dog for them as well.

purpleme12 · 04/05/2021 21:51

Oh Zoe 😓😓😓 she's such a beautiful adorable dog that I want someone to have her so much! Or me! I really hope next week is the week!!

But happy endings otherwise

Aww Zoe found a lovely home, I cried listening to the families story though.

Shame it didn't work out for Stanley, you'd of thought they'd of done lots of testing around other dogs before rehoming....

lazymum99 · 06/05/2021 22:08

Yup. I said exactly that. It was the rescue centres fault. Poor old Stanley should have been assessed better. They knew he was going to a home where they often had visiting dogs.
At first I thought it was even worse and had to have him pts. Thank goodness they didn’t and found him another home

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 06/05/2021 22:20

Yeah I thought they were going to say he had to be PTS 😢 as much as I love staffies there's no way I'd ever have one. He could have killed the other dog 😕

Ellmau · 07/05/2021 07:46

I was quite shocked by that.

Lucky Zoe.

Not sure that Ellie liked her new wardrobe...

magicstar1 · 07/05/2021 10:18

I'd love to see more of the bigger dogs being rehomed...they have shown a gorgeous German Shepherd in passing, but I'd love to see him being picked.
DH and I were laughing last night thinking if they'd filmed us meeting our GSD girl. She was a skinny, snarling mess, who barked and lunged at me straight away. Wouldn't make for good family tv I suppose lol.

dannydyerismydad · 07/05/2021 17:26

Ah Zoe! It was third time lucky. And she looks so sleek and healthy now.

Poor Stan. I know you never truly know what you're getting with a rescue, but I'm surprised he was such a poor match and the rescue hadn't picked up on his aggression.

And poor sushi dog. I'm not sure dressing up was really their thing.

ArcherDog · 07/05/2021 17:55

I was laughing at them chasing the lurcher over the site 🤣 of all the dogs to escape it had to be a lurcher 😫🤣

Took me a long time to catch that dog in the first place, luckily he was more settled and friendly when he made his escape attempt 😂

Stanley lived with another dog but it bullied him terribly, so I’m guessing he was fine with brief dog intros but couldn’t handle being around another dog more frequently.
It’s very hard to know how they will react in a kennel v intro v home environment.

magicstar1 · 07/05/2021 19:29

@ArcherDog did that lovely GSD go to a good home? I hope he wasn’t left behind

dannydyerismydad · 08/05/2021 08:16

I used to have a lurcher. As soon as Polo approached the door I knew it wouldn't end well!

magicstar1 · 13/05/2021 20:45

OMG the German Shepherd pups are only gorgeous! I want them all Grin
