Those owners who couldn't look after their dog cos they were building a house 😠☹️😳

My heart bursts with this programme
They're all so adorable!!! ❤️😊❤️

Trinity was just doing stuff all puppies do.
That accident that the family had with their previous dog was heart breaking and must have been so traumatic. But those Yorkies are gorgeous and look really happy with them. I didn’t know you could keep father and daughter together.

dogsdinnerlady · 09/04/2021 09:28

Re dad/daughter dogs. I'm guessing all the dogs are neutered/spayed before leaving?

Stellaris22 · 09/04/2021 10:46

I think rescues tend to neuter all dogs when they are given to them (why let dogs leave intact and able to worsen the rescue problem), but with a dad/daughter combo I would definitely hope so.

What did they say happened to Oliver's dad?
I though the dog they showed Oliver and his mum was ace

I feel bad for Luna in Battersea now 😓

They did find homes in the end
I would have taken them though

Oliver's dad died of a heart attack when he was 50.

Little Norman was lovely. Poor Luna, but good she found a home with a friend.

The puppy was super cute. Seriously, who gives up an 11 week old puppy because their work pattern has "suddenly changed"? Did the original owners think at all before getting him?

theliverpoolone · 15/04/2021 22:24

It was lovely that Oliver got Norman, but again, frustrating with the first dog they saw. They were told to give her time, and mum said of course - we'll give her a couple of minutes! Then they turned her down as there was 'no connection'. Such unrealistic expectations of the dogs.

I thought they're reaction to the first dog was quite odd?

Why happened with beautiful Luna? I felt like she was bonding with the three-legged lab, then I missed a bit, and they hadn’t gone for her.

She was nervous but it must have been really overwhelming for her that there were so many people all wanting to meet her at once.

purpleme12 · 15/04/2021 22:48

I felt she was bonding too and when the human was cuddling them together 😍

theliverpoolone · 15/04/2021 23:27

@SmidgenofaPigeon they said that they're a noisy, busy family and didnt think they'd be right for Luna as she was nervous.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 15/04/2021 23:29

@theliverpoolone ah well I suppose that was the right thing for Luna really, she’d be better off somewhere a quieter. Gorgeous dog.

LadyEloise · 16/04/2021 09:56

The dogs featured last night all seemed to get " the right fit for them".
So glad.
The Mum did say she'd like a Staffie didn't she ?
Was Norman 9 ? I felt he might be too old and would die too soon. That would be another heartbreak for them. The dad dying at 50 - far too young Sad

dannydyerismydad · 22/04/2021 20:09

They are being so diplomatic about that breeder who has clearly been breeding cockerpoos. Those poor spaniels 😢

Elderflower14 · 22/04/2021 20:12

I applied unsuccessfully for a beagle recently. The first dog since Bumbledog died...
Will keep trying....

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 22/04/2021 22:02

Loved all the dogs tonight even Zoe the beagle and I'm not normally a beagle fan!!

Poppy was beautiful and lovely Jim 😍

Those poor spaniels looked in a right state 😢 bloody puppy farmers 🤬

purpleme12 · 22/04/2021 22:40

I cried so much tonight

I miss my dog so much

Zoe was adorable. I don’t get what the problem was. Why would you expect to feel an instant connection? You build a relationship and earn that connected with your pet. The vicar knew that. I’m so glad it worked out for him.

dannydyerismydad · 23/04/2021 16:13

I'd love to have more of an idea about the timelines of these dogs. It's lovely we see them coming in and finding a family usually all in one episode, but often they are very different dogs when they leave. Fitter, healthier, glossier, better groomed, and with an amount of training. I suspect poor old Jim needed neutering too!

Likewise when people say they didn't get a connection. We don't know if they had more than one visit and how long they spent with the dog before making the decision.

Ellmau · 23/04/2021 19:44

I hope those spaniels found lovely homes too.

MattDillonsEyebrows · 24/04/2021 09:52

@dannydyerismydad

The timeline from meeting in the pen to taking home is around a week. They don’t let you take the dog home that day to give you time to think about it.
Then the camera crew comes back to your house around 4 weeks later.

dannydyerismydad · 24/04/2021 09:57

I'm mean more the timeline from the dog arriving at Wood Green to being matched, to going home.

It's clear a dog wouldn't go home same day, but I expect quite a few families will do several visits to make sure.

Sometimes we criticise people who turn down a dig because there didn't have a connection, but I think it's very possible those families are making that choice after spending a considerable amount of time with the dog. The edit makes it look like they spend 10 minutes playing with a ball and then say yes or no.

I love the vibe of the show. It's really positive and without the sob stories you usually find on animal programmes, but the format can paint some potential rehomers as fickle.
