How much drama do we think there will be with prem baby? We all know a birth is never straight forward it really wanted.

Old Corrie made you interested in characters from minute one because you all could relate to it being your mum or Gran. Now a days there is hardly any normal behaviour. It’s either shouting, pulling faces “in surprise” and so GSCE drama class.

SimplyMarvellousDarrrrrrling · 18/03/2021 18:04

I agree @Akire, Michael's animation beats any pantomime dame I've ever seen

UhtredRagnarson · 18/03/2021 18:11

Alina used to live with Tyrone. They’d have talked about a shared interest in cars. Mechanics are cars on the brain, they talk about it at the dinner table, talk about the car they’re working on or what they have booked in for tomorrow. Alina would have absolutely mentioned her own car experience then. It’s such bullshit.

Akire · 18/03/2021 18:48

They are going fix car, take it out for test run to some remote area, at night, with no phone signal, fall over break something, have spend night huddled for warmth!

My husband is a mechanic, he never talks about cars or work at home.
UhtredRagnarson · 18/03/2021 19:15

Maybe he’s not a mechanic..... Shock have you ever seen him at work?

Deadringer · 18/03/2021 19:59

Did Grace say she was 10 weeks early, i thought she said 2?

Maybe he’s like Maria who, after nearly 20 years as a hairdresser, still looks terrified of a comb Grin

Grin yes!! Maria the hair fluffer.

It was me that thought she said 10. I assumed 10 and not 2 because she was so upset and worried and I thought she wouldn’t be so hysterical if only 2 weeks early 🤷🏻‍♀️
ChildOfFriday · 18/03/2021 22:53

I also thought she said 10 weeks early.

Akire · 18/03/2021 23:22

It was 10 I was sooooo bored tonight I caved and watched it. Astonished that Michael’s dad was like what no baby? Then had nerve to look disappointed. Hello 10 weeks early?!

If they couldn’t extend to staff and a hospital bed after using it up on Kelly on Monday. Why not let her give birth at home in the bathroom or something?

Deadringer · 18/03/2021 23:26

10 makes more sense all right. Jesus that family drive me bonkers.

AliceBlueGown · 19/03/2021 09:30

The 'Builder family' are so hard to watch - is it the script or the actors that make it so bad? Usually you have at least one person in any family who can act a bit better than the others - but every new addition - the uncle, the uncles wife are just as bad. Corrie has too many pantomime characters - all the 'builder' family, mary, steve, the owners of the cabin...it is such a shame.

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 19/03/2021 12:07

I had a long break from corrie and eastenders and only really started watching again after lockdown one because I was interested in seeing how they'd manage it.
Also I felt a kind of loyalty, like it was important I knew what was going on in Walford and Wetherfield Grin
I really want to love it, love the characters and I still feel the warmth and sense of familiarity when I hear the theme tune.
Given in both soaps there are characters that have been there since I watched many years ago, I want to feel that beyond just the theme tune!
I'll stick with it though.

Pebbledashery · 19/03/2021 12:13

Sorry but is it just me or was that whole scene with grace and the uncle so badly acted

Pebbledashery · 19/03/2021 12:15

I feel like pressing fast forward on Edison so he talks faster 😁

eggandonion · 19/03/2021 12:23

Loads of people wandered in when I was in labour with my son. They were hospital staff, not assorted inlaws and supermarket staff.
Surely someone in that part would have said how stupid it all was, someone on set must have been in hospital, and/or given birth.
Unless Grace had as much gas and air as me and it's all a dream.

UhtredRagnarson · 19/03/2021 12:28

Current rules where I am is that the labouring woman is alone until in established labour, then her partner is allowed to stay until one hour after birth then they must leave. No freshco security guards, no grandads/great uncles allowed.

Pebbledashery · 19/03/2021 12:30

It's the freshco security guard that did me.

It's like the soaps just can't be bothered to be realistic anymore!

eggandonion · 19/03/2021 12:31

I did like the new Freshco bags, though. They seemed nice and sturdy. And possibly the best actors involved.

UhtredRagnarson · 19/03/2021 12:38

You need to be buzzed into maternity in the hospitals here.

Midwife: Hello?

Man: hello I’m here to see a woman who is having a baby.

Midwife: which woman? What’s her name?

Man: I’ve no idea, I’m jus the freshco security guard that locked her in an office and caused her premature labour.

Midwife: oh come on in then, she’ll love to see you.

Confused

I know the episodes are recorded well ahead of viewing times and the writers could have been praying that by this time life could be free(ish) of the virus but:

They seem to think that flashing a few face masks is enough for us to find it all believable. Token covid reference when Ken announced he has had his vaccine the other night? Has Rita been hiding in a wardrobe for months? When will we be put out of our misery and see the closing music and titles just as Ty closes the garage shutters from the inside as Alina gives a knowing look and that time has arrived when they do the dirty deed? Why has our Craigiiiee not been in a scene for at least a week? Is he going to be the next Morse? When is Gary coming out of jail? I miss his huffing and puffing. Who will be the next love interest for Audrey? Will she start flirting with Dev? Will he put the closed sign on the shop door and take her in the stock room?
So many questions?

Pebbledashery · 19/03/2021 12:48

Rita has been shurkging I expect. Either that or she's fallen off her ladder again and nobody had realised.

UhtredRagnarson · 19/03/2021 12:49

Will he put the closed sign on the shop door and take her in the stock room?

🤮

I see lots of people asking about when Gary will be released from prison. Are we actually missing Gary “the tiny hard-man” Windass???

Are things really that bad?
