Can I ask a weird question here?

I'm desperate to watch but also have a phobia of vomit - are there any graphic scenes I should be aware of?

It's a nightmare trying to watch anything where I think people might be sick! Confused Stupid phobia!

I can only think of one scene when one of the people drinks some battery acid but I don’t remember whether it actually shows anything

No there isnt any vomit in it from what I can recall
Mrsjayy · 02/02/2021 18:49

I can't think of vomiting but you do see people quite ill so it depends how squeamish you are.

Mrsjayy · 02/02/2021 18:50

I am positive there was no sick.

LordOfTheOnionRings · 02/02/2021 18:52

Colin

thissemicharmedlife · 02/02/2021 18:57

What was specifically wrong with Colin in the end? I understand hiv weakens your immune system to the point where you can’t fight off infections, he seemed to have dementia-like symptoms?

x2boys · 02/02/2021 19:06

He had a specific syndrome ,I can't remember the name( I read it somewhere ) but it caused dementia symptoms ,very sad .

TFSRM · 02/02/2021 19:18

I think Colin had a lymphoma on his brain which caused the dementia.

Fembot123 · 02/02/2021 19:19

Even in the battery acid drinking scene? I can’t remember if you see it or just hear it
iklboo · 02/02/2021 19:22

@Fembot123 - I think you just hear someone gag / retch and spit it out rather than 'graphic' scenes of vomiting.

Thanks 😊 I thought so as Ritchie runs out doesn’t he.

Mrsjayy · 02/02/2021 19:30

Oh yes think the drinking acid scene was wretching over the sink it is a blink and you miss it .

Yesterman1 · 02/02/2021 19:48

Thank you so much, everyone! Going to go and catch up on the app now 👍

I think he was supposed to have progressive multi focal leukoencepalopathy , was one of horrible complications of aids seen in the 1980s Was so sad.
BoobsOnTheMoon · 02/02/2021 22:33

Toward the end, when Jill got back to the B&B after seeing Ritchie's mum, was that his sister Lucy sitting with Roscoe?

notawittyname1954 · 02/02/2021 22:37

@Boobsonthemoon

Yes it was his sister

I finished the series a few days ago and can’t stop thinking about it, honestly one of the best programmes I’ve ever watched. I was born in 1988 so don’t remember any of it, and I don’t really remember ever being taught much about HIV/AIDS.
I cried loads, in Ep 5 when Jill is nursing Ritchie in his bed and Kate Bush ‘Running up that hill’ plays, It just hit me like a tonne of bricks. The lyrics and the meaning of that song, along with what and what was happening, just heartbreaking.

How do you all find using All4 I couldnt get on with ITV Hub Gave up with it several years ago due to trying to watch a programme ,then there would be adverts (fair enough) but then it would play the first part of the programme again. Left it for about seven years then rejoined again, tried it again. Same old same old so left again. Absolute crap. ITV Hub really put me off using the ones connected with commercial channels so im watching Its A Sin in real time. Is All4 better? Have had no problems with BBC i player.

Switchboard: Homophobia, HIV and hoax calls

I binged this last night.
Absolutely brilliant - veered from funny, to sad, to absolutely shocking in parts.
Great acting, writing and sound-track.
I too was in tears on numerous occasions.
It deserves to win awards.

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/02/2021 07:15

@MercyBooth I haven't had any trouble with itv Hub or All4. They both have as breaks but they are usually short, sometimes with no ads just the sponsor. They don't seem to pick up where you left off like I player does though.

Skipsurvey · 03/02/2021 07:34

devastating and fabulous, a story that needed telling.

Skipsurvey · 03/02/2021 07:35

the hub i better than it was, agree it used to wind back, and there were very few adverts this time round

CousinKrispy · 03/02/2021 07:47

Loved this show and thanks for all the interesting discussion here.

I've never had any technical problems with All4.
