FINDING ALICE ... SPOILER THREAD ONLY

Spoilers allowed here! For those of us who are binge watching this drama.

I have just finished episode three and I think this is the best drama I've seen in a long time.
I have a feeling that Alice isn't that innocent! The way the policeman looked at her during the inquest , but I'm probably wrong.
I can't wait to see episode four as I'm not sure what to expect now.
No spoilers allowed on the other thread.

Literally just come here on the search for fellow bingers! I've just finished the last episode and I need someone to discuss it with! Grin

Lemoncurd · 19/01/2021 12:45

Have watched all 6 and found myself going back and checking several times that I really had. It didn't feel like it concluded...

the80sweregreat · 19/01/2021 13:02

I felt bad for her when she was pulling up the flowers on his grave.
I've only seen 3 so far. I'm Itching to see the others to see if any of my theories are right!

Set up for series 2
Frequentflier · 19/01/2021 19:17

I am on Episode 5 and really think the scriptwriters were on glue. None of it makes any sense. But as it's short, I want to see how it ends. Alice is truly the battiest .

the80sweregreat · 19/01/2021 20:48

Finished four and it's not as I expected at all up to now.

BlueCowWonders · 19/01/2021 21:45

Just finished episode 3 and it all seems conveniently tied up already!
Looking forward to some unravelling

Cherryhotchoc · 19/01/2021 21:47

Can anyone give a rundown of the spoilers for season 1? Or message me if they can’t be posted on the thread!

Izzy24 · 19/01/2021 23:34

All the possibilities of an excellent drama but just didn’t quite make it in my opinion...

tigerbear · 19/01/2021 23:42

@Izzy24 and @Frequentflier totally agree with you. It’s trying too hard to be so many different things, and failing at all of them.
I’m finding the acting wooden, which is odd, as on paper it’s a brilliant cast.
The characters are all annoying in their own ways, so I don’t have any empathy for them.

The subject of death, and all of the emotional turmoil after it, is done so much better in Afterlife.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 19/01/2021 23:47

I've just finished watching it. Definitely left open for another series I reckon. Alice was funny with things she came out with. Not v diplomatic. I wondered if G watched the last scene Grin

Veuvestar · 20/01/2021 00:34

I thought there were 2 more episodes, very unfinished.
Nothing resolved really
Not very realistic with the business and probate/ inheritance tax stuff

the80sweregreat · 20/01/2021 10:34

I loved Afterlife , but then I am a Ricky Gervais fan.
It is a little bit similar, but they could have done with a bit of his magic at times!
I will watch episode five later on.

OP posts:
Izzy24 · 20/01/2021 11:00

I loved Afterlife too and agree with PPs.

And yes, what a great cast but it just didn’t happen.

RalphtheMouth · 20/01/2021 12:52

Watched the whole series, but still not sure what I think. Definitely left open ended ready for series 2.

Eaumyword · 20/01/2021 15:18

Finished episode 5 and am glued to it, but also blerdy frustrated at Alice's naive business sense, complete self absorption and bonkers impulsiveness!
It did say spoilers allowed so hopefully it's ok to mention details below...

I've enjoyed playing 'if I was her,' although obviously without the tragic circumstances. I'd have let them sell the house (am I alone in disliking it?!), given PIL a couple of hundred thou+inheritance tax money to leave me with £800k.
I'd have accepted the £2mil offer on the land - too many risk factors involved in proceeding, even if it could have been £20mil in the end.
I'd have bought a smaller cosier house and had a financial nest egg to help daughter&me.

I like Charlotte - she seems to be parenting her mother.
Nigel Havers&Joanna Lumley are both funny.
We loved Afterlife - it made us laugh and cry in every episode and seemed more realistic - you could relate to Ricky Gervais's situation more than this perhaps.

AlternativePerspective · 20/01/2021 15:21

Far too dragged out They could have fitted it into 3 episodes and still achieved the same thing.

Last episode was a complete anti climax, and tbh I don’t think I’d bother sitting through another series of it.

the80sweregreat · 20/01/2021 15:22

Big Spoilers as now watched it all. Don't read below of your still plowing through it !

SPOILERS
.........................................................................

Right. It didn't go as I expected. I did think Graham was dodgy and proved right on that one. George was also a disappointment. The men didn't come off that well.
I hope she builds those affordable flats.
I like how feisty she became as time went on. I
Liked the sister.
It wasn't anywhere as good as Afterlife, as I said before , but it wasn't too bad and at least they didn't do the whole back and forth thing so beloved of most books and dramas.
Some great acting especially Joanna Lumley.
Patsy as a married woman!
I guess that season two will have George trying to rip them all off and her having Harry's baby.

OP posts:
Cherryhotchoc · 20/01/2021 16:32

I haven’t watched it all as for bored but would like answers to some questions. Hopefully those that have seen all 6 will be happy to answer.

Did she ever let the police access the cctv? Did it show anything?

Did he find out how Harry died? Was she involved?

Is there a ghostly element to it at all e.g. he reappears as a ghost etc or not at all.

AlternativePerspective · 20/01/2021 18:32

He died by falling down the stairs, no mystery there.

She accessed the TV and it showed a man standing at the bottom of the stairs before he fell who turned out to be his son from an affair some years earlier.

No ghosts...

derxa · 20/01/2021 19:04

who turned out to be his son from an affair some years earlier. That might not be true either.

derxa · 20/01/2021 19:05

I think that George is the result of sperm donation as well

Frequentflier · 20/01/2021 19:31

So totally agree with all of this. Why was she so bizarrely attached to the house that killed Harry?

I also liked Charlotte and Nicola. Alice was terribly self-absorbed and in all honesty, an awful mother.

Dontbetardy · 21/01/2021 14:14

I have just finished episode 6. It’s all ended so abruptly. I wonder if lockdown stopped filming as I feel it’s 2 episodes short. May be to keep us getting for season 2. I did enjoy it though. I particularly liked Nicola and Charlotte. Graham is creepy.

the80sweregreat · 21/01/2021 14:24

It did end abruptly and I guess more will be made. She'll find out that those two children are Harry's children!
I'm shocked they wouldn't let her have the sperm but someone says ' it's to check dna' and that was all ok? Would they take a sisters word for that?
Her mum was such a cow putting it in the bin. I'm glad she saved it.
George was horrible too as well as Graham.
I did like the sister.
