Moving to a new house should have been a dream come true for Alice (keesley hawks) and Harry (Jason Merrells) and their daughter Charlotte

But turns into a nightmare when Alice finds Harry at the bottom of the stairs dead

And turns out harry has secrets ........

I missed that bit about the scarf!

JaneJeffer · 17/01/2021 22:15

I laughed when she said he was a Gooner Grin

the80sweregreat · 17/01/2021 22:15

He obviously run out of money for a bannister!
She was very trusting of that ' business partner' wasn't she? She'll be wanting her cash back soon enough!

Bluntness100 · 17/01/2021 22:17

I thought it was really good, I’ve downloaded the rest of it and will watch again tomorrow..

LIZS · 17/01/2021 22:18

Intriguing, although the authority figures were all played with a distinct lack of empathy! Reminded me of Mrs Wilson but with more wit.

Photos suggested they had been together long term. How would the "son" know where they lived though, unless his family already knew perhaps.

Grin

honeyrider · 17/01/2021 22:20

I don't know if I'll watch it again, Keeley Hawes character is irritating and most of the other characters are not nice.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2021 22:20

@pinbinpin

You know what is ridiculous about this program? Friends of mine have recently self-built their own home, incredibly similar to this one. They have almost identical floating stairs, and they had to install bannisters, on both sides, even the wall side one, to pass building regs.
But the grand designs house this week in Kent was the same I think

No banister

Maybe Alice is the dodgy one here? Didn't want to give the police the cctv footage , doesn't seem too heartbroken, turfed Harry's parents out on their ears and clearly doesn't get on with her mum! Hmm. All very odd.

The house on Grand Designs last week had floating stairs like that, but I don't think they had banisters, and I said I couldn't cope with stairs like that.
JaneJeffer · 17/01/2021 22:25

What was Joanna Lumley up to upstairs? She looked very flushed! The dad (NH) also seems oblivious to everything. Maybe he's in on it too?

Teenminds · 17/01/2021 22:26

Hmm not sure on this, all a bit strange. Why isn't she telling the police about the person in the house? Why is she not worried about being in the house with her daughter knowing that someone likely came in and killed her husband, though he's not her husband?!
I'm confused

pinbinpin · 17/01/2021 22:27

*But the grand designs house this week in Kent was the same I think

Was it finished? Been through final building regs sign off?

Theirs was like that for months before they put the sides on, it used to freak me out going up it, so dangerous, all you have to do is slip in flip flops or slippers and that's it, broken neck. They put the sides on right at the end just before they moved in for building regs. Maybe its county specific. But surely these days with H&S and what have you, no one would have a house like this!

ColumboOnTheCase · 17/01/2021 22:30

I think on Grand Designs they hadn’t got round to putting bannisters on yet.

Not sure about this show might give the next episode a shot just to see if it improves.

Also why wouldn’t you talked cctv to police straight away given a) police were questioning her and b) if there was foul play you would want to know!

JaneJeffer · 17/01/2021 22:31

Maybe someone dodgy signed it off for a handout?

the80sweregreat · 17/01/2021 22:31

Horrible stairs , but the rest of the house is lovely.
Where did they live before?

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2021 22:33

Not sure why she didn’t tell police about the cctv

Did she see what happened

Or stoped it there so isn’t sure

And change the body COde on key pad lock

I thought the bill from the fertility clinic that Charlotte found was dated 2000, so would maybe relate to her (she looked about 19 years old)

LizFlowers · 17/01/2021 22:34

What are floating stairs? They sound extremely dangerous. I will google.

Just googled. They are horrible, I'd be terrified to live anywhere with those.

the80sweregreat · 17/01/2021 22:36

Floating stairs are a bit too Harry Potter at hog warts for my liking!

midsomermurderess · 17/01/2021 22:36

I find the it a bit perplexing when people don't like a book etc because the characters aren't 'nice_. Nice people don't make interesting stories. And with this kind of tone, don't expect linear storylines and accurately-presented procedure etc. That would be a different programme.

JamieLeeCurtains · 17/01/2021 22:38

So she moved into a house and didn't even know where the fridge was. Yeah, right.

I thought it was really plodding and poor, considering the cast. It picked up a bit half way through, but not enough really. It could be a slow burn I suppose?

friendlycat · 17/01/2021 22:38

Thought it was quiet poor but will give it another episode. It definitely needs to improve as was so implausible and I thought badly written, but has a good cast.

frustrationcentral · 17/01/2021 22:41

We hated the house! Looked so cold Grin
