Moving to a new house should have been a dream come true for Alice (keesley hawks) and Harry (Jason Merrells) and their daughter Charlotte

But turns into a nightmare when Alice finds Harry at the bottom of the stairs dead

And turns out harry has secrets ........

I think I'm getting the 'humour' now.

'it's toxic waste' 'that's beautiful, I'll put it in the funeral speech' Grin

JaimieLeeCurtains · 24/01/2021 21:28

Oh yeah, Fizz's mad ex, John Stapes. Nice to see him getting regular work.

Pimlicojo · 24/01/2021 21:30

I'm just not getting it. I'll watch this episode but am not sure if I'll watch again. It's just weird and implausible.

Elderflower14 · 24/01/2021 21:40

Just spotted Reggie from Call The Midwife!

colouringindoors · 24/01/2021 21:41

I think it would be improved without Joanna Lumley!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2021 21:42

It’s def black comedy but it’s good

And things she says/does are what some do when their husband /partner dies

I see a lot of me in her

Tho I didn’t bury dh in our garden

It's pretty surreal.

Onlinedilema · 24/01/2021 21:46

In not getting it this week. It's just not funny enough.

Nohomemadecandles · 24/01/2021 21:53

@colouringindoors I agree whole heartedly. Sorry, Joanna.

SoupDragon · 24/01/2021 22:36

I enjoyed it more this week since .I now realise it's actually a comedy rather than a drama.

Clawdy · 24/01/2021 23:10

That line in the funeral speech, about her dad saying he was going to have sex with her mum, was a bit silly though! Shock

Fairydustrust · 24/01/2021 23:40

I've given up on it. Really wanted to like it, but just don't.

JaneJeffer · 25/01/2021 00:08

I love Nigel Havers in it. When he started crying I burst out laughing.

Standrewsschool · 25/01/2021 08:20

Really enjoyed the first episode. Full of suspense and intrigue. After last night, we commented that we watched the episode for an hour and all they did was bury a body. The story hadn’t actually moved on, and it was quite slow. Quite disappointing.

Is it worth persevering? Shame really, has some good actors in it.

Woodlandbelle · 25/01/2021 08:24

I agree its bizarre. But I will continue watching. I hope it improves.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/01/2021 08:45

It moved on as in

Police know she didn’t kill him

She knows about his son

Hubby obv knew about him as g in phone

Tho suprised police didn’t take phone to check it

She knows about the fertility clinic

She has closure with funeral. I found that really helped

They've also introduced the bereavement group so she will have friends soon - she doesn't seem to have any at the moment.

JaimieLeeCurtains · 25/01/2021 09:55

Why wasn't the mystery bloke caught on cctv at the door?

Deathraystare · 25/01/2021 10:49

The burying the body in the garden made me smile because of the poster who linked to a property in Leeds where the house owner had died and his family wanted him buried there!

butterpuffed · 25/01/2021 10:52

I like dark humour and also drama but the two seem to mix well together in this.

I'd like to know who their builders are as the bannister was put up virtually overnight Grin

butterpuffed · 25/01/2021 10:52

Don't seem to mix well

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/01/2021 10:58

I’m wondering this @JamieLeeCurtains

And quietly enough that she didn't wake until it was done! Perhaps it was the elves, like in the Elves and the Shoemaker.

As an aside, it was hideously out of character with the rest of the house.

kindlyensure · 25/01/2021 11:36

Am persevering but it's like wading through treacle - and speaking of which - just as CTM's colour scheme was teal, FA is a decidedly mustard/orange affair.

Yes- agree about the rent-a-friends from the bereavement group. Where are her mates? Or Harry's?

I do think Lumley and Havers make a very attractive couple though.

JaimieLeeCurtains · 25/01/2021 11:58

I think the FiL put the banister up, but instead of the laborious all day job it would have been in real life, it was two swift bangs of a hammer and Lo! It appeared.
