I can't imagine swanning round in a tshirt in winter, Sean should have a nice fleece

You must be a southerner. Here in Geordieland, that is overdressed.

Grin

Well they are.

No such thing as a ‘nice’ fleece in my view. But in general I agree - no one ever seems to wear weather-appropriate clothing. I know the wardrobe department can’t predict heatwaves or snow two months in advance, but it can’t be that much of a leap to think T-shirts in July and jumpers in January.

If you watch the classic episodes at the moment, which are from August if memory serves, you’ve got Fiona and Gail in very summery dresses, Leanne and Toyah in strappy tops and Les in his vest (which, while not what you’d call attractive, is at least realistic). Now you have Adam, Gary and Imran strutting about in overcoats when in real life it’s 35 degrees, while other characters seem to wear the same lightweight long-sleeve tops all year round, regardless of whether they’d be too hot in summer or freezing in winter.

I grew up in a cold northern city, then moved to east Anglia which is very cold.
Then I moved to the south of Ireland where it's mostly fairly mild but it rains occasionally! I have become a wimp. At least gail has her cosy fake uggs.

WINKINGatyourage · 24/01/2021 14:53

Roy does Grin he has a lovely beige anorak.

SophieB100 · 24/01/2021 17:05

Saw in the news that they've had an outbreak of Covid on set, and have suspended filming for a couple of weeks, they are going to refilm some scenes and change others. But, the production team assures us that it won't mean less episodes per week. Same has happened with Emmerdale too apparently.

@WINKINGatyourage

It IS a lovely anorak.

In fact, it was when I caught myself admiring it that I realised that I was an Ole Trout.

On another note - am I the only person to find Gail's simpering and emotional blackmail mind-numingly irritating?

(Especially the simpering)

We need a couple COVID deaths on the Street to bring home the seriousness of the pandemic, and to get rid of some of the characters whioget on my wick

Viviennemary · 24/01/2021 17:13

If Roy ever leaves I'll stop watching. He's the best character by miles. Old style Coronation Street. Although he's not been in it that long in the grand scheme of things. But over 20 years which quite surprised me.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/01/2021 17:29

I love Roy, too.

He's a proper character.

eggandonion · 24/01/2021 19:02

Who should we kill just now? I had forgotten seb was a thing.

JaimieLeeCurtains · 24/01/2021 19:07

Is that sink hole still there, btw?

JoanWilderbeast · 24/01/2021 19:25

I like Evelyn but there's "amusing character rude" ie Blanche and then there's just downright rude and I don't think the scriptwriters now have, or are allowed to have, the nuance to show the difference.

eggandonion · 24/01/2021 19:28

The sink hole is a versatile death trap, shallow grave type thing. Seb should look into it. Whoops.

eddiemairswife · 24/01/2021 19:41

The sinkhole is another daft storyline that appears to be going nowhere. If this happens in real life, surely the council and/or the water board would be involved. At the moment everyone (including the scriptwriters, producers, continuity people} seems to have forgotten about it.

WeeWillyWanky · 25/01/2021 11:05

I must be an Ole Trout as well, SchadenfreudePersonified as I was looking at some Hotter slippers yesterday and getting quite excited, until I read a review and someone said she had bought them for her 93 year old mother who has mobility issues. I'm 53.

People in Corrie never seem to wear a thick jumper or cardi under a coat in Winter. When Aggie came in from work, she took off her coat and was wearing a short sleeve top. Do these people not feel the cold?

ajandjjmum · 25/01/2021 18:05

Grin It's warm in hospitals!

MrsSteveMcDonald · 25/01/2021 18:31

Had they forgotten to wash the hospital gown? It's soap law that anyone in hospital wears one no matter what the reason they're in.

eddiemairswife · 25/01/2021 18:34

How much state financial support do multiple-birth parents get? Gemma's pram costs just over £1000.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 25/01/2021 18:35

I think Seb is here to stay because he’s popular with the younger audience, but the actor has definitely had a triple bypass in terms of talent.

If they wanted to do a topical storyline (obviously potentially difficult with filming delays), Seb would be entitled to the vaccine now as he’s clinically vulnerable. It would be interesting to see how older characters reacted to him getting it before them.

Should Aggie not have gone for a shower? I thought all clinical staff shower when they arrive home.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 25/01/2021 19:19

I wouldn't wear a thick jumper under a coat either! I'd be far too hot.

woodhill · 25/01/2021 19:20

Didn't even wash her hands
eggandonion · 25/01/2021 19:30

Gail often has nice knitwear.
