That was a bit of a squid ending- I though Annie Lennox was in trouble (unless she’s murdered Ray like a good Coronation st resident would!)

PrincessScarlett · 22/01/2021 21:14

What is Debbie up to? Something has gone on with her and Ray. Is it significant that he appeared to cut his wrist on the broken glass when he fell over?

bloodyhairy · 22/01/2021 22:04

God, I am bored fucking shitless of Corrie. The Ray/development storyline is a pile of shit. Evelyn is a rude old cow. And why is it that Michael and Sean are too skint to move out and stand on their own two feet? The latter has at least two jobs Confused

Akire · 22/01/2021 22:35

I enjoyed! Though flaw in how she can’t remembering sending the video or been noticed by Ray. Least Debbie can now Run the Bistro as payback? She should have least said she stuck up for her as Ray wanted her dead.

It looked like chesney had been to the 1970s and got pound notes. 2 stuffed envelopes with notes! How much is their rent? Do MLM only run from month to month?

TheFormerPorpentiaScamander · 22/01/2021 22:39

What's a squid ending?

I'm glad they are showing MLMs for what they really are. And kudos to Gemma for refusing to lie to her friends. I think the running month to month probably varies from scam scheme to scheme. I think some are quarterly. And some you can leave with no repercussions.

Honeyroar · 22/01/2021 22:40

A damp squid. A let down.

TheFormerPorpentiaScamander · 22/01/2021 22:43

Oh. I thought the saying was a damp squib ConfusedGrin
Surely a squid should be damp. Well wet actually.

Mollypolly2610 · 22/01/2021 22:44

Is it not a damp squib

WINKINGatyourage · 22/01/2021 22:45

It’s damp squib!! 😂

You know like a firework that doesn’t go off because it’s damp!

WINKINGatyourage · 22/01/2021 22:45

Squids are naturally damp! Grin

TheFormerPorpentiaScamander · 22/01/2021 22:47

Oh phew. I thought I'd been saying it wrong my whole life Grin

Clawdy · 22/01/2021 22:54

Definitely damp squib! But damp squid is funny....Grin

Honeyroar · 22/01/2021 22:55

Haha🤣 sorry!😝

PrincessScarlett · 22/01/2021 23:12

The IT Crowd did a brilliant episode where they debated damp squid/squib! Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/01/2021 00:58

Grace looks like Dennis the menace

I thought Freddy Kreuger Grin

MsMiaWallace · 23/01/2021 08:16

Despite her previous behaviour I think Grace is coming across quite well now.

Debbie is a snake isn't she!!

I thought Ches was gonna take money out the kebabs shop till.

JaimieLeeCurtains · 23/01/2021 09:06

Do you remember when we did a UC benefits calculation for Ches and Gemma and the kids, when they blathering about living on about 50p a week and having no food? I think the writers were always determined to turn them towards an unfeasible life of crime hence this latest story.

Ches and Gemma must never, ever have any money or happiness, seems to be Corrie Writers' Law.

I suppose it'll be a way of writing out the increasingly inconvenient quads - mum and dad get banged up and they go into care. Sadness for a week, then all forgotten about as Ches and Gemma forge 'a fresh start' (hopefully in Spain).

StillCoughingandLaughing · 23/01/2021 10:10

I also think Ches and Gemma’s days are numbered. Apart from the fact that the quads are, as Jamie Lee says, increasingly inconvenient from a scripting and practical perspective, virtually any storyline you could give the family could just as easily be given to Fiz and Tyrone. While Ches is fondly remembered for his cute little ginger lad days, I don’t think he’s that valuable as an adult character. Tyrone has a stronger legacy because of the Jack and Vera connection.

In other news, where is Beth? I can’t think when we last saw her.

All through I was waiting for Abi to screw it up again, but (God knows how) she came through in the end.

Won't the CCTV in the Bistro have recorded what happened? We know it's working now, because of Ray blackmailing David when Shona was in there with Simon. Hope someone thinks to look before Ray does.

eggandonion · 23/01/2021 10:30

I'm sure Craig and the cuddly detective will untangle it all. Sooner rather than later I hope. Although goodness knows what can happen next assuming the plans for redevelopment are abandoned.

Roussette · 23/01/2021 11:12

Aren't the quads about 16 months old now? Would they all be lying down in that quad buggy quietly whilst Gemma pushed them around? Doubtful.
And hasn't Chesney got a son or am I getting confuzzled. If so, where is he?

JaimieLeeCurtains · 23/01/2021 11:19

Chesney's son is Joseph, and he lives upstairs or in other people's houses.

His mother Katie died off-screen but his Aunty Izzy is still theoretically on the cobbles, I think?

SophieB100 · 23/01/2021 11:28

Ssssh @Roussette, stop being sensible. The quads would be toddling around by now IRL, into everything. Instead they still sleep upstairs all day, and get pushed around in the pram for new born babies. Joseph, the mythical son, is obviously upstairs night and day with them.

Clawdy · 23/01/2021 11:35

I did like that moment when everyone got the video sent to them! Something actually went right at last !

Akire · 23/01/2021 11:38

Well I finally cracked and did a benefit calculation for them. No child cap because of multiple birth. Estimated chesney works 40h at £8 plus rent of 900 a month.

So wages pre tax £360 a week plus UC and CB of £541.29. let’s say take home a WEEK is £829.

Month take home £3,564 they should be able to buy nappies!!
