Sorry, couldn't think of a catchy title in the emergency of needing a new thread!

OP posts:

I've always been Brian Conley for Bush baby so I'm just sticking with it now. And if I'm wrong I'm wrong

GrimDamnFanjo · 17/01/2021 17:49

Bush baby - John Thomson?
He is an excellent mimic
Pro standard drummer
ABBA references - knowing me, knowing you with longtime collaborator Steve Coogan
Celebrity Masterchef
Has done musical theatre so can sing

GrimDamnFanjo · 17/01/2021 17:54

And John Thomson can also perform magic...

Charmatt · 18/01/2021 13:46

Viking is definitely Morten:

He has a Blue Peter Badge
He's from a town in Norway that translates to 'King's Rock'
He was awarded the Knight of the First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav by the King of Norway
He held a note in 'Summer Moved On' for 20.2 seconds - a record at the time.

....and most importantly, I knew from the second I heard him, it was him - he has always been my music idol! Grin

I also think that the fact he sings songs that wouldn't naturally bring in the popular vote and that the dancers aren't really involved with him (in the background for 1 out of 2 songs on Saturday and not involved in the first week) reflects his musical integrity.

Iamthewombat · 18/01/2021 15:37

Anybody who doesn’t believe that Viking is Morten needs to watch his performances again then listen to ‘Cry Wolf’ and ‘I’ve been losing you’ where his fluting voice is best demonstrated. It is totally him!

JorisBonson · 19/01/2021 11:18

I love this bonkers show

Predictions from the Bonson household...

Badger - Ross Noble
Blob - Lenny Henry
Harlequin - Gabrielle
Sausage - Stacey Solomon
Viking - Kingy from the Hairy Bikers
Bush Baby - Brian Conley
Dragon - Michelle Visage
Robin - not sure

APJ1 · 19/01/2021 11:28

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has a tour coming up, so we can presume participating in this show was really about getting herself more exposure for it. Now, when you look at who else has tours coming up hmmmmm...

LouiseTrees · 19/01/2021 22:57

@Mucholoco

Anyone else think Badger is Tim Minchin?
Yes. Fully convinced of it. Would put a bet on if the betting companies would allow.
TitsOot4Xmas · 19/01/2021 23:17

He’s on the wrong side of the planet. Has been throughout 2020.

LouiseTrees · 19/01/2021 23:21

@BigBadVoodooHat

WTF?! The Minch has been in Australia since Nov 2019. Don’t ask how I know. ;)

And now I REALLY want to know! Grin

Love Tim Minchin. ‘Upright’ was absoloutely brilliant!

Wasn’t he in the UK in July 2020? Also want to know how you know.
SpanishFly · 19/01/2021 23:27

What clues point to Tim Minchin? (Ignoring the fact that it sounds nothing like him, and he has a distinctive voice which would be hard to disguise)

SpanishFly · 20/01/2021 13:47
www.heart.co.uk/showbiz/tv-movies/masked-singer-full-list-of-odds/
"Shane Byrne"?!?!

SpanishFly · 20/01/2021 13:48

Also, I wonder why Badger is down to win? I thought Bush Baby and Dragon were the most popular

JorisBonson · 20/01/2021 14:11

I said Guy Martin for Badger previously but DH found a video of him singing which put an end to that little theory.

Iamthewombat · 20/01/2021 14:12

The odds shown on that link are made up. You can’t bet on The Masked Singer in the U.K. you’d have to do it via an offshore sports book,, plus it is the radio station that harbours noted intellectual heavyweight Amanda Holden, so how much credibility would you give anything they publish?

They have wheeled in a bloke from Betfair, a site on which punters bet against each other rather than the bookie, but he could say anything: it’s not his money!

Also HAHAHAHAHA at Bruno Mars doing this show. Or Taron Egerton. Morten Harket, the only other genuinely very famous person, must just be doing it for fun, to get away from the Nordic winter!

I would say badger is best so far. Team Ne-yo (or Morten) here !
TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 20/01/2021 18:44

Kevin Clifton????

Pootle40 · 20/01/2021 18:47

Plus if you look on Twitter nobody is stumped by badger !

TheSpottedZebra · 20/01/2021 18:50

I could see Kevin Cifton doing it: he seems to have been on tv regularly moaning about his work being cancelled this year.

So he would have the motive, and the time... Can he sing? Does it seem like he was who that link said he was?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 20/01/2021 21:46

He can sing, yes - he did Rock of Ages last year, I think?

JaquelineBeanstalk · 21/01/2021 06:35

I previously guessed guy Martin for badger, but it’s his distinctive speaking style that made me discard that theory.

Courtney act for dragon?

Iamthewombat · 21/01/2021 10:55

Plus if you look on Twitter nobody is stumped by badger!

Come on, spill!

I agree that Kevin Clifton, like Joe Swash and Aston Merrygold, are prime candidates for no other reason that they would all do anything to get their mugs on the telly. Sort of ‘Hole in the Wall’ level if anyone remembers that!

Piggywaspushed · 21/01/2021 12:21

I take it the badger things is the BS joke??

I can't see how clueses fit Kev from Grimsby .
