Who’s in? I watched series 1 again last week in preparation!

dazzlingdeborahrose · 08/01/2021 15:14

Just watched first episode on demand but won't post any spoilers.

AllDoneIn · 08/01/2021 15:21

Where can we watch it?

dazzlingdeborahrose · 08/01/2021 17:52

It's on Sky One.

AliceinBunniland · 08/01/2021 18:07

I just watched season 1 over Christmas

Didn't realise series 2 is out?

justasking111 · 08/01/2021 21:19

Looking promising...

Faircastle · 08/01/2021 21:59

Suggest an agreement about whether the thread is for S2 at Sky pace (with no spoilers)? I have read the books but a long time ago.

MoChridhe · 08/01/2021 22:10

I watch it though I am not too e enthused about it. I mainly watch to see Matthew Goode and I like the actor playing Gallowglass.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 08/01/2021 22:13

Matthew Goode is divine!
Yes, definitely season 2-however, it has been released in one job lot so will have to be careful not to do spoilers!

Season 2 in it’s entirety out today on sky

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 08/01/2021 22:17

Noooo. Don’t watch it. Read the fantastic, fantastic books. The tv will ruin them!!

Faircastle · 08/01/2021 22:38

I get Sky One through Virgin Media so I can only see one episode each week. I don't have Now TV or an actual Sky subscription.

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls · 08/01/2021 23:23

Faircastle I get Sky One through Virgin Media and have just binged watched the whole series today via on demand.

Faircastle · 08/01/2021 23:47

Thanks @SunburstsOrMarbleHalls I will have a look this weekend.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 09/01/2021 11:54

Have just downloaded the books to my kindle but am going to watch first-I often find if I’ve read the book first, that films/TV reproductions seem rubbish in comparison.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 09/01/2021 12:07

I have tried to read the book. It is soooo dry, I can’t get into it at all.

cushioncovers · 09/01/2021 12:10

Just started watching it.

Luckingfovely · 09/01/2021 12:12

I thought the books were some of the best I've ever read.

Loved series one and have rewatched it several times, but you do have to accept it as a different entity to the books - there's so much written detail that there was no way it could translate into 8 episodes.

Watched Ep 1 of S2 last night and loved it! Have access to all on Sky but trying not to binge too quickly.

Where is Gallowglass? I can't wait!

For the the book lovers, there's an article here about how much they had to change the book for S2:

IPokeBadgers · 09/01/2021 17:02

I read the trilogy over my Christmas break and really enjoyed it. I had watched season 1 on sky and was strangely addicted to it even though I thought some of the writing and acting wasn't the best.
Have sat down today and binge watched the first 4 episodes of series 2 and I think it's shaping up to be much better than the first one.... And Gallowglass has made an appearance 😁

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 09/01/2021 17:09

Gallowglass towards the end of episode 3. Am onto 4 already and loving it-trying not to binge though and rush!😉

I bookmarked after this (and another?) thread and watched episode 1.

It just seemed like a cheap and cheesy imitation of Outlander.

Shosha1 · 09/01/2021 17:45

@stumbledin Gallowglass is played by Steven Cree who was the Elder Ian Murray in Outlander. And agree its not as good as Outlander

AliceinBunniland · 09/01/2021 18:55

I'm finding season 2 a bit more difficult to get into than season 1

stumbledin · 09/01/2021 20:22

In fact I did watch Season 1. It had some of my favourite actresses in, but I suppose we wont see them this time. Although poor Sheil Hancock seems to have been dragged into this end of term pantomime!

I didn't recognise Steven Cree but did recognise without knowing who he is the young one with the floppy hair who often plays posh boys in contemporary drama and this time it Kit Marlow(?).

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2021 07:45

Struggling with e1 s2

cushioncovers · 10/01/2021 08:42

I'm watched 3 episodes and I'm not enjoying it particularly but will stick with it.
