Anyone going to watch this?
I've never heard of this person before.

I'm giving it a go. Liking the locations.

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2021 21:15

Looks more like a Netflix type thing then bbc 1!

^ Its co production with Netlix..
So far its just Ok.

ageingdisgracefully · 01/01/2021 21:41

It's not grabbing me so far.

hopeishere · 01/01/2021 21:47

Too much backwards and forwards.

wowfudge · 01/01/2021 21:47

The subtitles were mistranslated - gem dealer man told his lacky to get ice cubes, not tea.

It's quite atmospheric though.

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2021 21:48

It's jumping around a lot, so a bit confusing.

JazzyGeoff · 01/01/2021 21:50

I'm finding Charles' awful hair quite distracting. Shame, because otherwise I'm loving the 70's vibe.

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2021 21:53

It does feel like the 70s are back !
Good attention to detail.

SupermarketStress · 01/01/2021 21:54

Man, distressing and yes, jumping round all over the place but loving the locations.

unique1986 · 01/01/2021 21:54

Yes the lead actor looks very fake.
I like the other guy. Mainly watching cos of Billy Howell and Jenna Coleman

SupermarketStress · 01/01/2021 21:54

Oh and the 70s glamour vibe is amazing.

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2021 21:58

Must have been so much easier then to fake passports and not be traced.

BLTLover · 01/01/2021 21:58

So the couple they took in they are poisoning?

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 01/01/2021 22:13

Irritated by the 2 months earlier 2 months later thing. Scary as based on true story. Love the vibe too.

TheDogsMother · 01/01/2021 22:32

Hmmmm didn't really get on with this though I had high hopes. A bit too slow and backward/forward for me.

PuppyMonkey · 01/01/2021 22:35

Really like it so far. Usually don’t like jumping back and forward but for some reason it’s ok so far with this as it’s sort of explaining how confusing it must have been to the people investigating the deaths.

Jenna Coleman looks amazing.

PJsEveryday · 01/01/2021 23:03

I loved it! Once I worked out the 2 months earlier/later thing it made sense. Loved the 70s vibe and loved the lack of nudity. A few years ago there would have been lots of pointless and gratuitous sex scenes but this was like dramas of old (but much better produced). I know that makes me sound like an old prude but for me, it made a refreshing change.

viques · 01/01/2021 23:22

Once you get used to the time warp thing it is really gripping.

Can’t get over our nice English rose Jenna Coleman in a wig and a French accent getting mixed up with a serial killer. She is very good though!

Cocolapew · 01/01/2021 23:51

I really liked it, the backwards and forwards was easy enough to follow as long as you remembered to look at what it said unlike DH
It's on iplayer now, I watched episode 2, it was very good.

WingingWonder · 02/01/2021 00:14

I loved it!
The flipping about shows how much harder it was to piece together
In years pre kids I’d just stay up and watch the rest!

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/01/2021 00:42

I loved it too! I'd heard about Charles Sobhraj years ago in Australia but forgotten most of it.

Really good evocation of the place and time - I could almost smell it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/01/2021 09:47

What is it about

Cocolapew · 02/01/2021 10:07

Its based on a true story of a man, and woman, in the 70's in Bangkok. He was a con man and more.. (don't want to give away any spoilers)
I think you would like it Blondes Smile

BLTLover · 02/01/2021 10:42

Jenna Coleman is a stunning woman isnt she?
