Anyone else a bit disappointed tonight? I mean, the series haven't been brilliant - and I'm sick of Daleks - but this was just...meh. Too many Maguffins & Deus Ex Machina.

I realise filming was probably affected by CV19 but I felt a bit deflated by it.

OP posts:

I agree its a bit deflated one guy pretending like he is trump Bradley walsh finally going but Ryan has gone too I had such hope for him in his first series

Theunamedcat · 01/01/2021 20:43

It just seems a bit kid comic like not grown up enough

Cheguevarahamster · 01/01/2021 21:09

The kids loved it. I really liked the last season but I was unimpressed bythis episode for the reasons in the OP. It had its moments but overall was underwhelming.

nephthys · 01/01/2021 21:11

Dreadful. Mawkish. RIP Dr Who.

Theunamedcat · 01/01/2021 21:24

And now they are adding in another man can we not go one episode without a penis in the tardis

JustDanceAddict · 01/01/2021 21:24

It hasn’t been good since Matt Smith left

TheLetterZ · 01/01/2021 21:26

So dull. Daleks turn up, more daleks turn up. Doctor sorts it way to easily.

Much more could have been made of the prison break, that should have been the episode nor this nothing mush.

I agree they have wasted good actors on piss poor story lines I mean WTF was that guitar playing episode all about? And bill "im only attracted to women" potts WE KNOW YOU'RE GAY OKAY and its fine just stop telling us now
jay55 · 01/01/2021 21:38

Captain Jack had bugger all to do after Prison, what a waste.
We've barely got to know the assistants and now they're off.

Theunamedcat · 01/01/2021 21:41

Captain Jack breaks her out and now a torchwood reboot is rumoured considering they killed 90% of the cast might be a bit hard 🤔

RedskyAtnight · 01/01/2021 21:46

DD(14) said the same - she thought the show would have been great with 2 female leads!
Theunamedcat · 01/01/2021 21:48

It could have been sadly we are getting Dan the man

PoloNeckKnickers · 01/01/2021 22:09

Steve seems to have got over Oliver's death very quickly Confused

PoloNeckKnickers · 01/01/2021 22:10

Wrong thread! Meant to put this in the Corrie thread!

bobbikato · 01/01/2021 22:22

Did not understand how the doctor has a spare tardis - i thought only the master had the other one ?

Theunamedcat · 01/01/2021 22:24

No the other doctor from the last series had one she was left on earth as a house quite sad the doctor killed one of the tardis sisters without a second thought like that

Magpiecomplex · 01/01/2021 22:26

We were discussing possible uses for the "security drones" and thought they'd be good for administering the covid jabs. VACCINATE! VACCINATE

It's a children's programme, at least it was originally.
Campervan69 · 01/01/2021 22:30

Two women in the tardis on their own would have been great. Disappointed they didn't run with it for a while.

DinkyDaisy · 01/01/2021 22:35

My 15-year-old says killing a Tardis a bit off. He remembers that the Tardis is a living thing...Basically, it sacrificed itself or was murdered...
History of Dr Who trampled on he says...

I agree 👍
Campervan69 · 01/01/2021 22:41

Yes we thought that as well. And glossed over completely.

KihoBebiluPute · 01/01/2021 22:41

Yes didn't like it much.

The filming was all done in 2019 - it takes a year to do the post-production special effects cgi etc so nothing to do with covid.

lazylinguist · 01/01/2021 22:42

I really wanted to like the first female Doctor, but I just don't. Barely managed to keep watching to the end of the first series. Rubbish storylines, preachy messages, tedious companions. Reading this thread makes me glad I didn't bother persevering!

VashtaNerada · 01/01/2021 22:42

I think the trouble is that it’s not got the investment it once had. You always did have a couple of ‘meh’ episodes but there were enough really good ones to balance it out. If they returned to a really long meaty season once a year plus a Christmas special ON CHRISTMAS DAY I think the writers and the cast would settle into it a bit more. I do think JW is a great Doctor, I want to see them use her more and in more diverse storylines.
