No....I thought Sal would be a finalist!

Sunbird24 · 28/02/2021 20:59

On another note, I was getting these vibes from Keef tonight...

Pottery Throwdown 2021
SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/02/2021 21:00

Alon was on borrowed time, but very sorry to lose Sal.

She threw it away.

GoofyIsACow · 28/02/2021 21:01

Yes you are right that they couldn’t send Alon and not Sal, what a real shame, she’ll br kicking herself!

TokyoSushi · 28/02/2021 21:01

I thought Sal was going to win! Not sure who it'll be now. Right decision about Alon though.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/02/2021 21:01

I honestly thought that Sal was likely to win.

Sad
Roussette · 28/02/2021 21:03

They are all so talented

Knitwit99 · 28/02/2021 21:03

Like my school teachers used to say, in an exam you've got to read the question carefully. Sal just ignored the question.

SwedishEdith · 28/02/2021 21:05

Sal's been my least favourite for a few weeks but was surprised they were brutal enough to boot her out. But agree, if Alon went for breaking the rules they so must she.

Spidder · 28/02/2021 21:05

I was convinced sal would win. Genuinely shocked.

TheSpottedZebra · 28/02/2021 21:07

That was mad. Sal out as she put a neck on a pot?
But in the exerpt of next week's episode, someone was being told off for not taking risks?

She won the throw down. She won almost everything!

viques · 28/02/2021 21:07

I am so shocked. How come flakey messy Hannah is still standing and lovely, creative, talented Sal has gone. I am not mourning Alom btw.

GoingFullNorman · 28/02/2021 21:08

You could just as easily argue that Hannnah (I think?) ignores the brief re: decoration, as there was no traditional journey/story told.

I can’t believe Sal has gone. Her pots were beautiful.

Also think it’s a bit of a stretch to be so insistent on the brief now Alon has been wildly reinterpreting it each week, with little or nothing said.

I was so pleased for Peter though - lovely pots, and he was so happy too.

starfishmummy · 28/02/2021 21:12

You could just as easily argue that Hannnah (I think?) ignores the brief re: decoration, as there was no traditional journey/story told.

If you google image search, there are some very similar designs to hers, so while it may not be her personal journey; theu were not a million miles from tradition

GoingFullNorman · 28/02/2021 21:16

That’s interesting, starfishmummy. I wonder why she was describing Dazzle ships when talking about her decorations? It gave the impression she was branching out, just doing a design she liked, rather than keeping to the brief.

starfishmummy · 28/02/2021 21:24

You never know how they have edited though.

GoingFullNorman · 28/02/2021 21:28

Oh, of course. But I do think it’s odd that we weren’t really shown traditional pots with that kind of design (I think - ds was faffing about a bit so I may have missed it), and told about how the decoration was a form of storytelling etc.

Then we get Hannah talking about how WWII shops have inspired her decoration, and nothing at all about how it links to traditional pot decorations.

Then arguably 2 of the most talented being thrown off for not following the brief.

It leaves viewers (well, me, anyway) wondering why not following the design brief was allowed, when the design is such an integral part of the pot.

Whitney168 · 28/02/2021 22:07

Am not happy with that!

Furbylicious · 28/02/2021 22:12

I was very sad about the outcome. They could have sent two home the week that everyone's cooking dishes broke, or last week when both Henry's and Peter's leaked, or next week, or not until the final!

It does feel a bit like they've done it for the shock factor of two talented people going.

I've thought Alon repeatedly sailed close to the wind and it was always possible one of his creative ideas went too far, plus his decoration seemed much less detailed and a bit pale in places. But Sal has been consistently very good (except for the musical instruments) and even this time they praised her glaze work.

I'm delighted Peter got a pot in the gallery, his were lovely and he was clearly delighted.

I loved Adam's though, he might be my person to champion now that Sal is gone Sad

Furbylicious · 28/02/2021 22:16

I think it's fine to have some creative, "take risks" challenges and some precision, "follow the brief" challenges but I think if that's what they're judging it on, it should be made clear to the contestants. (Obviously it may have been off-camera).

I don't mind a mix of, well you went off brief and your quality of decoration wasn't there so we are sending you home over someone who also had patchy decoration but followed the brief. But this seemed a bit mean!

Egghead68 · 28/02/2021 22:25

So upset Sal went.

Mumdiva99 · 28/02/2021 22:32

I was crying that Peter got his pots in the gallery....quickly followed by tears that Sal had gone. She didn't deserve to go having been one of the strongest candidates overall.
(I even respect Alon for using the show as a vehicle to show what he can/aspires to do....even if it sometimes goes wrong...). Again not sure who I am backing to win now.

RalphtheMouth · 28/02/2021 22:34

No way should Sal have gone; certainly Alon as he didn’t stick to the brief on a regular basis! Why not just send one home?

Californiabakes · 28/02/2021 22:56

I was sure Sal would win. I understand why they sent her home bit it seems little unfair. She didn't stick to the brief but her pot was beautifully decorated. She seemed pretty shocked herself!
