@Roussette

I'm boring, I just love the ordinary stuff they do.

A teaset, a coffee put with cups and saucers, Set of vases etc. I fall in love with some of these pieces, but not the off the wall stuff.

I’m the same - love functional ceramics.

@Mischance

Henry should have gone last week. Instead they booted out a lovely lady who had consistently done good work.

I do not like the competitive element. I would just be happy to see challenges achieved and talented people learning new skills.

I thought Henry ought to have gone last week too, but sadly Shenyue's "decoration" was horrific! Had she chosen another design, or executed the one she did choose more effectively, I think she would have beaten him.

Alon's okapi (anatomically incorrect as it was) was lovely, but he's someone I've been expecting to get booted for weeks, as he takes so many risks and just escapes by the skin of his teeth!

Does anyone have a link for Adam's online shop?

bibliomania · 22/02/2021 15:07

I'm full of admiration for the okapi knowledge on here. I would not have known that the antlers were wrong.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/02/2021 19:16

Another snippet for you Biblio - Alon described the okapi as being like a zebra.

I nearly spat out my tea (and if it hadn't been gin I probably would have) and I'm sure other okapi-lovers felt the same.

The okapi is actually a very close relative to the giraffe. The only resemblance to a zebra is the leg stripes.

Plus - bearing in mind that the animals were supposed to have been "real-life" representations, maybe Alon should have been the one to go rather than Henry, as his okapi (delightful as it was - and I admit I loved it!) wasn't remotely life-like.

bibliomania · 22/02/2021 20:44

How do you know all that, Schaden. [Sits quietly marvelling]

HeadNorth · 22/02/2021 20:50

Alon distinctly said that although it has zebra striped legs, the okapi is actually related to a giraffe. And they do have horns - albeit short ones, but I'll allow artistic licence. I loved the mad okapi and the water going from one side pannier to another was a great idea.

Poorlykitten · 23/02/2021 08:11

Yes @HeadNorth Alon did say that and I thought it was great, bit of artistic licence is fine I think. Loved his, actually thought it was better than the wolf, which was a bit boring and all in monotone. Very clever but idea and quirky.

CleanHankie · 23/02/2021 09:46

Whoever asked for Adam's online shop www.makeit11.com/

I visited their place a few years back during Open Houses and its one of the few I follow on social media so very happy & surprised when they announced Adam was on Throwdown.
I'm still disappointed i never got a Crunkle although I have some of their prints

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/02/2021 11:26

It was me, Hankie

Thank you.

I am a mine of useless information, and DEFINITELY the person you want on your team in a pub quiz.

(I know nothing about sport, though - whatever that it)

Forgive me Headnorth - I didn't hear him say that. It may have been during a Dogoplypse which occurs whenever someone looks at though they may be thinking of walking their own dog past our house.
IntermittentParps · 23/02/2021 12:44

Thank heavens Henry's gone. (Sorry Henry, I'm sure you're a nice chap). He was just a bit rubbish for a few weeks.

I think Hannah is out of her depth and has been for a while.

Liked the wolf; it was quite 'arty' but very characterful and stylish. Liked Adam's; lovely expressive tentacles. Sal's was nice but didn't really hit the brief. I liked the rusty effect of Peter's bathtub. Alon's okapi was a bit show-offy, I thought, and not that good. I want either Sal or Jodie to win.

I recently read a brilliant book "Other Minds" which was very much based on the intelligence of the octopus - intellectually they are the border collies of the ocean floor. I read that too. Didn't really follow the more hardcore science, but it was fascinating. My Octopus Teacher is great too.

Mischance · 23/02/2021 18:53

Looked at Adam's website - I think I can resist the temptation to spend money on any of it - I am very tempted to say it is tat, but I am far too polite. Grin

Poorlykitten · 24/02/2021 00:05

What does one do with a ceramic biscuit exactly?

HeadNorth · 24/02/2021 08:26

What does one do with a ceramic biscuit exactly?

I had the exact same thought. I mean, they look great, very skilled. But, why?

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 24/02/2021 10:10

What does one do with a ceramic biscuit exactly?

One would probably break one’s teeth...

Poorlykitten · 24/02/2021 10:40

....indeed, If one was stupid enough to try one.😂

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/02/2021 10:48

Have to confess I was disappointed at the website - not much I liked and very overpriced.

(I have no use for a ceramic bourbon either)

Sunbird24 · 28/02/2021 19:55

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/02/2021 20:08

What've I missed?

I was watching Grayson's Art Club on catch up and lost track of time.
