I liked Ranvir but her constant lack of belief in herself did I think give over some negative energy - she was very good in ballroom and hold but the two times she didnt she received low marks.

HRVY has I think pushed himself into doing the biggest range of dances and has show to be capable at all. Maisie suits latin but can still do ballroom.

I loved Bill at the start but he has stalled a lot for me and hasnt improved.

Jamie just has an infectious positive energy about him - I think he will make the final better because of that I think his positivity will have a better vibe than Ranvir negativity

SparklingDinosaurs · 14/12/2020 10:25

Is the German format different maybe (that’s what Motsi was a judge on?) so that it is the best dancer that wins? Trying to give her benefit of doubt as in her first year here arguably the best dancer did win as Kelvin was amazing. Obviously it is a popularity contest though eg Stacey won even though Faye and Ashley were clearly much better dancers. I really liked Faye too but obviously too much of a ringer. What I remember from that final was that it was like Kevin has won rather than Stacey - I know it’s exciting for the pro to get a win but it’s their job and surely it should be all about the celebrity. That was quite cringeworthy. Mind you I think the pros are probably more famous that a lot of the celebrities now!!

Thanks for whoever posted the video of Zoe and Ian. I love them on ITT and hasn’t realised he’s fallen! Poor Ian. Wish could watch the whole series with them. I was taken aback by how plain the set looked!!! Especially if that was their final show dance (?) there is hardly any dressing to the set. How time’s have changed!

I was thrilled that Jamie got through. He was a better all rounder to me and much more entertaining. I did feel sad that Ranvir has to leave but of the two I’d much rather watch Jamie more. Ranvir did some beautiful ballroom in hold slower dances but anything else and she seemed to struggle. Also agree with PPs that her narrative was becoming stale. I think it’s a clever angle to take but they have to be so so careful to push it only so far or else us good old British public get cynical and bored of the “poor divorced unconfident woman learning to love dance and herself” storyline. I think they should have stopped that a good few weeks ago (after the dance where they did a lot of chat in the VT about her body issues?). Gio (producers?) was smart in keeping to quite slow dances with hold as her frame was lovely and I think that was why she got so far. Sadly anything faster just didn’t work for her. I also think he was quite smart in playing odd the romance rumours. Everyone loves a love story (or rather sordid gossip!) and they weren’t shy at making reference to it themselves even Saturday with chat of the 3am texts etc.

I won’t be able to watch the final but I’m going to try to vote online - I wonder what time the voting opens. I know I should wait until they dance but I have gut feelings and want to give the votes to Jamie. I don’t think he’ll get any many public votes (given how often in dance off) and think he so deserves to win for his improvement and his entertainment value. Bill is interesting. I really liked him at first but I’ve not got any warm feelings to him. I feel like I should be enjoying him more and I don’t dislike him and I’m okay he’s in the final but there is something not quite gelling for me now. I think his early dancers were much more fun and surprising so hopefully he’ll focus on those. Maisie well she’s just Maisie isn’t she / she young she’s trying to be confident as young teens do. I don’t have as strong “she’s full of it” opinions as I did previous as I think she’s calmed a bit and I’ve grown to appreciate her. I don’t think she deserves a win though due to ringer status and a sometimes questionable attitude (due to age mainly I’d imagine). HRVY is good. I like him he seems like a nice decent kid. I’m hearing things that he’s got YouTube footage out there that shows he’s a total ringer too though / probably music videos drilling. So unsure. He could easily win though as he must be getting decent votes to have never been in dance off.

In summary I think HRVY or Bill will win based on popularity. I’d like Jamie to win though and will try to vote for him. He’s not the person I thought he’s be. Didn’t JJ basically admit the same in his ITT exit interview / he said something along lines of i’ll admit I completely misjudged Jamie b

Last paragraph here (sorry don’t know how to quote partial posts) is exactly how I feel ... said much more succinctly that I did Grin

I agree. He's definitely got an infectious enthusiasm. I was 100% neutral on him at the start, and I don't know him from anything other than getting injured and missing out on SCD last year, but he won me round. Interestingly, I saw something suggesting he'd had the toughest dance draw, which I think is probably about right (Bill & HRVY have had the easiest draws, Maisie & Jamie the toughest. Ranvir was in the middle).

I loved Ranvir for the first few weeks and had her pegged as a potential winner, but by the end of her run I felt sapped when I watched her. Sad

Bill was an early favourite of mine too, but I agree he has plateaued noticeably.

Quartz2208 · 14/12/2020 10:35

Yes Sparklingdinosaur at a party Jamie would make you want to dance and I think a night out with him would be amazing. Bill to a certain extent with some of his dances has that same quality.

Maisie doesnt for me - she is just too competent I think without that added sparkle. She wouldnt make me want to join the dance floor

Fishfingersandwichplease · 14/12/2020 10:36

Why do y'all call Jamie BVB? Been meaning to ask for days!

SparklingDinosaurs · 14/12/2020 10:40

I think it stands for Barron Von Biscuit as he’s the McVitti heir. Although I think he might actually not be inheriting anything from it himself now but that’s where his family money is from.

Quartz2208 · 14/12/2020 10:46

He has his own money now as well making Candy Kitten sweets (which actually are really nice sweets). I think he is far more switched on that he sometimes projects himself to be

SisterMichael · 14/12/2020 10:52

I hate to admit this but does anyone else find Bill a bit... boring? I love his comedy but I’m finding him a bit serious. It’s Strictly ffs.

Sparklingbrook · 14/12/2020 10:55

I had been wanting to ask about BVB too. Grin

I think Bill is a serious person, he never seems to break out of it.

willsantausesantatize · 14/12/2020 10:56

Bill has taken it seriously since day one.
I know he isn't as good now , but it's nice he doesn't fawn over Oti and jump around at every little thing. Possibly because his a bit older than the others?
I don't care who wins really : they have all brought something positive to the show which is good after a really horrible year!

He seems to be overly cautious of not flirting with Oti (I can’t word it more elegantly than that) if you know what I mean, all the other couples are quite touchy feely but he seems to deliberately keep his distance from her. Which is fine, but it certainly lends a more professional / less show-bizzy feel to him

Yes, I agree. I think he was also reticent about being seen as 'the comedy turn' and has swung too far the other way in an attempt to counterbalance that.

Sparklingbrook · 14/12/2020 11:12

Bill B is 55 and Oti is 30, young enough to be his daughter. I can totally see why he wouldn't want to be touchy feely with her outside of the dancing. I don't know if that's an ageist thing to say? I hope not.

Annasgirl · 14/12/2020 11:33

Yes @SisterMichael I think Bill seems very serious - but I have read that most comedians are pretty boring when the off button is switched (and they often suffer from depression, which seems counterintuitive).

I am so happy that Jamie is in the final. He really has been the most fun to watch and as DD and I were saying, the final would have been dull without him. I cannot understand why he is always in the dance off - I mean, he seems popular on this thread, but the public must prefer HRVY and Bill (not so sure about Maisie, I think the judges high scores keep her safe).

Looking forward to Saturday night but even more so to a fabulous week of ITT (and as I keep repeating, if only we could petition to keep it on through until Spring). I hope some BBC researchers read this thread. Grin Grin

BigBadVoodooHat · 14/12/2020 11:42

it's nice he doesn't fawn over Oti and jump around at every little thing. Possibly because his a bit older than the others?

Thinking about it, this really wouldn't have stood out in the earlier series. Everyone was much more sedate in the earlier years.

I wonder when the shrieking and hysteria started to set in? Perhaps it's been a gradual, post-Brucie increase. He certainly tolerant of over-exhuberation ~ remember him chasing the McFly boys off the dancefloor when Harry won? Grin

BigBadVoodooHat · 14/12/2020 11:43

^^ Certainly wasn't tolerant, that should say

SisterMichael · 14/12/2020 11:51

I don’t think so Sparkling. I think it’s respectful to Oti which is nice.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/12/2020 13:21

For all those saying how good Ranvir was, did you not see her jive?

I mean, lovely person she may well be (I don't know her) and journey she may have had, but that jive something you might expect to see in week 2. She managed to miss out all the awkward party Latin dances too.

Maireas · 14/12/2020 13:29

Craig said that they thought Bill would be another Ann Widdecombe, but he impressed them with his determination! He said he's a bit stiff at the core, but adds sparkle on the dance floor. I would agree with pp above - that's what Maisie lacks. Charm, humour or sparkle. I think she's a great dancer, technically very good, but you want that extra something.

ElspethFlashman · 14/12/2020 13:45

I thought Bill would be a little bit sparklier but he's as sedate as a drains inspector visiting a convent.

Between that and his rather hiccupy jerky style of dancing, I'm not particularly rooting for him to win.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 14/12/2020 14:09

Bill’s dancing has made me realize what a difference musical talent can make when dancing- if you’ve got impeccable timing and rhythm, it’s a massive help, even if you’re not the most limber, etc.

I know it’s obvious but seeing Bill had made understand why my DH was so terrible when we had dance lessons...he’s essentially tone-deaf with no sense of timing. It runs on his family! Sorry, DH, I’m not trying to be nasty, but now I understand why you couldn’t keep time....let alone do any of the steps.🤣 I wasn’t great either, but I was in time ( I can play an instrument reasonable well).

Theromanempire · 14/12/2020 14:21

Just seen an article quoting Ola and James Jordan as saying that they think Maisie is good enough to become one of the professional dancers in the future Hmm I mean, she is good but not that good Confused and definitely not the best celebrity they have had on!

Samcro · 14/12/2020 14:57

"Bill & HRVY have had the easiest draws, Maisie & Jamie the toughest. Ranvir was in the middle)."

I disagree. Maisie has not done a slow dance.
i do think the way some celebs only doing dances that suit them is unfair.
it would have been interesting to see how she got on with a slow one.

Maireas · 14/12/2020 15:06

Bill did the male lead in the AT (very tricky) and hrvy did the only rumba, which was challenging. I don't see how they've had it easy.
