So, they’ve released the songs/dances for Saturday - looks like they’re hinting that it’s Jamie’s week to leave Wink

TheLadyOfShallnott · 08/12/2020 17:12

There we are

Bill and Oti: Tango to Enter Sandman by Metallica & Charleston to (Won't You Come Home) Bill Bailey by Ottilie Patterson with Chris Barber

HRVY and Janette: Charleston to Another Day of Sun by La La Land Cast & Rumba to Only You by Kylie Minogue and James Corden

Jamie and Karen: Quickstep to Thank God I'm a Country Boy by John Denver & Salsa to Last Dance by Donna Summer

Maisie and Gorka: Viennese Waltz to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri & Couple's Choice: Street/Commercial to Gettin' Jiggy Wit It by Will Smith

Ranvir and Giovanni: Waltz to Un Giorni Per Noi by Josh Groban & Jive to Candyman by Christina Aguilera

TheLadyOfShallnott · 08/12/2020 17:12

And no contempowafty feet.

Praise be.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/12/2020 17:16

Un Giorno Per Noi is a gorgeous, swoony song. I'm really looking forward to that.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 08/12/2020 17:20

I loved John Denver back in the day.
And Donna Summer. Grin

I’m wondering if there could indeed be a shocker Measie/vowel thief dance off.

I’m not sold if I’m honest.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 08/12/2020 17:21

Really looking forward to Ranvir’s waltz. I’m preparing myself to weep.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/12/2020 17:29

I think I only know three of those songs. Have I stopped being Strictly's target audience?

Also, is it now obligatory to dance to a song that includes your name? Gimmick.

covetingthepreciousthings · 08/12/2020 17:51

Perhaps only slightly related but I've just seen that Shirley and also previous SCD contestant will be on the celeb Great British Sewing Bee this Christmas.....I'm excited!!

Is it back on BBC? I didn't enjoy it so much after it moved to c4, preferred Claudia to Joe as well.
Did it move ? Or just new presenters?

TheLadyOfShallnott · 08/12/2020 17:55

Sold. Live me a bit of 🐝

TheLadyOfShallnott · 08/12/2020 17:55

Love

moglovesmincepies · 08/12/2020 18:05

Hope the singers don't ruin ranvir's waltz!

What?

Christmas Sewing Bee?

What is this? When is this? I need to know!

Maireas · 08/12/2020 18:38

I love Sewing Bee. Looking forward to it!

ikltownofboothlehem · 08/12/2020 18:40

Christmas. Sewing. Bee? When? Where?

CharityDingle · 08/12/2020 18:41

@SchadenfreudePersonified

I meant to say yesterday that Motsi (on R2) said that when Maisie has good feet ,she has bad arms and vice versa!

Why does she never say this instead of "You ROCKED it!"

How can people improve if their weaknesses aren't pointed out to them?

(And I'll bet Craig has noticed it as well. And Shirley.)

Exactly. Motsi just shrieks inanities, instead of giving feedback.

Judging panel needs a shake up, imo.

CousinKrispy · 08/12/2020 18:42

I know! Christmas Eve and New year's Eve, BBC 1.

Also I'm looking forward to Ranvir's upcoming dances!

CharityDingle · 08/12/2020 18:45

Has Bill reached his limit, talent wise, I wonder.
There's no doubt he works hard, and takes the whole thing very seriously, and he was a surprise to most people, initially, but, I thought last time, it was mostly Oti doing the dancing.

IntermittentParps · 08/12/2020 18:54

CharityDingle TBF I always think the AT IS mostly the woman dancing; the man's role is to be a frame to show her off.

I think the Charleston will be right up his alley.

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 08/12/2020 18:59

The audience (especially when there is a live audience back, but even those currently in the room) need to stop booing and heckling every time a judge says something critical. The irony is CRH often runs out time to give positive comments because he can't get his critical comments out over the boos.

CharityDingle · 08/12/2020 19:17

Yes, I thought of that alright, in relation to last Saturday's dance. It's just that the first few weeks, he seemed to shine more, or something.

As an aside, for all the Strictly long term viewers here, has it ever happened that the same pro was part of the winning couple twice in a row?

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 08/12/2020 19:31

@CharityDingle nope - they are always landed.with a duffer after they have won - Bill obviously didn't get that memo. I assume he was meant to be the comedy turn and get booted out a few weeks in.
I this Aliona is the only pro to win twice and her wins were about four years apart.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 08/12/2020 19:38

Jamie and Karen..... Salsa to Last Dance by Donna Summer

I LOVE Last Dance by Donna Summer, they’ve never used it before have they?

BigBadVoodooHat · 08/12/2020 19:42

I LOVE Last Dance by Donna Summer, they’ve never used it before have they?

Because nobody wants to tempt fate by dancing to something called 'Last Dance'? Grin

As I mentioned up-thread, the fact that they're referring to Jamie as a 'country boy' (accidental homophone? Wink) doing his 'last dance' feels like more than a little bit of subliminal audience persuasion.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 08/12/2020 19:45

BigBadVoodooHat

Didn’t think of it like that, but I fear you may be right.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 08/12/2020 19:47

I wonder if BVB will be on last with that number... it’ll look a bit shit if it’s on halfway through
