Just home from work and catching up on tonight's show ... I love musicals, I live in the North but I try to get to London at least once a year to see shows in the WestEnd and I live for shows going on tour as they always go to Manchester and/or Liverpool, both of which are only a couple of hours away from me, so I get to seea lot of shows that way.
I loved the opening dance, Johannes killed it but I was constantly distracted by Gorka's shoes ... clearly hes not used to dancing in a proper heel
JJ and Amy - it was all a bit meh. It never really got started and just felt far too slow and flat for a Charleston.
Ranvir and Gio - I loved it. I may be biased because I love that song and Waitress as a whole, I think it especially helps to understand the characterisation if you know the context of the song in the show, but the dancing was wonderful.
Maisie and Gorka - I loved their jive, not a huge fan of the CGI but it wasnt too in your face. I think having a defined character to embody definitely helped Maisie, she seemed far more relaxed than when she has to be herself.
Bill and Oti - it really wasnt Bill's dance but I feel like they were stitched up a bit. It's a hard dance for a celeb male to be showcased in and PotO as an AT was done a couple of years ago by Davood (and was the week he went out) so it must be hard to try and keep a dance fresh when it has literally been done before.
Nvwls and Janette- a ringer is gonna do what a ringer is gonna do when given the ringer-iest dance you can possibly do for musicals week
Jamie and Karen - I think it was OK but a lot of the criticisms I've seen for the choreography are for elements that are actually either directly pulled from or a nod to the actual musical's choreography, which is a little unfair. Unfortunately I think it will suffer from being taken out of context as a standalone dance by people who have never seen the show.
