@TheLadyOfShallnott

A moving duvet? Grin

You didn’t get that when I were a bairn.

You were tucked right in under several layers of blankets and sheets. The hospital corners were utilised in a restraining stylee.

Nowt moved. Nowt.

You had to be untucked for school in the morning.

I well remember those halcyon days!

It was like wearing a nocturnal straightjacket - you came out of bed in the morning as though you'd been ironed flat!

Clawdy · 28/11/2020 22:17

Voted for Ranvir and Clara.

And I’ll bet you remember picking the ice off from the inside of windows too Grin

We had to learn the restraint bed routine for our younger cousins. It was comforting being swaddled like that though. And you were always cosy.

It made me an utter whizz at bed packs on inspection days. Our 12 (wo)man room didn’t fail a bed pack much to the disgust of the corporal.

Those were the days.

I'm in my 30s and grew up with the properly tucked beds and ice on the inside of windows. Sometimes we couldn't open them in the morning.

But that's because I grew up in rural (just) NZ and NZ lives in the past in many ways. Grin

Why is Vicky who does the dressed called "Vicky Giggles"?

Maireas · 28/11/2020 22:33

She has a nervous laugh on tv. It comes across as a high pitched giggle.

I did, ShallNot! I did!

And more than that - my bed was next to the window and one morning I woke up and couldn't move my head. I had had my head on the windowsill and my hair had frozen onto the glass. (DSister and I slept in the loft - the windows were at a funny level in relation to the beds).

Ah bed blocks. I always measured the sheet fold down from my wrist to my elbow. All 12 beds had to be same and every pillowcase opening had to face away from the door so the corporal didn't see flappy pillowcases. Details.... details.

If you tell me that you shine shoes (not bulled ones) with a banana skin, can peel an apple in a oneser and a bero cookbook is a go to, then you are an honorary 50oddyearold. Grin

I think I’d very much like NZ...

Who was sharing a table with johannes

Never noticed! Will listen out for her laugh and will her in. I'd be nervous too if I was on ITT
TheLadyOfShallnott · 28/11/2020 22:51

Flappy pillow cases..... Grin

Been there. Fiddled with that Wink

IslaMann · 28/11/2020 22:58

I don't get the JJ love. He seems cold and emotionless to me. I really like Amy but the partnership just doesn't work for me.

ElspethFlashman · 28/11/2020 22:59

Agree the wardrobe department have been at the gin this year.

Every week they make Tess look like a sack of spuds and she's about 5'10 with a cracking figure.

Also: Those shoulders on Motsi! Whatever the hell Jeanette was wearing! That cheap bit of yellow fringe they threw on Clara at the last minute! Oti's flammable white wig for no reason at all!

theliverpoolone · 28/11/2020 23:07

I did think Oti suited the white wig though, she looked stunning.

ElspethFlashman · 28/11/2020 23:07

"I'll never stop marching to reach you" ... apart from when I want to go on telly and leave you with the kids for two months.

OK I'm probably a bitch but wild horses wouldn't keep me from my 3 year old and 1 year old for 2 bloody months to be on the telly. And he's intending to be gone another month!

Fuck that, seriously. Its not fair on the other parent. I read a quote from him that said "Hopefully this tour will last 3 months and won't be cut short".

THIS TOUR??!

Er. One out of three ain't bad, right?
Cygne · 28/11/2020 23:17

@Poshjock

Maisies best dance and my fave of the night. She deserved 30 there. I really like her.
Yes, it was good, but even I noticed the mistakes and I'm no expert. It didn't really deserve more than 9s.
Cygne · 28/11/2020 23:21

It irritated me when JJ said that the kilt was made for the Viennese Waltz. No, it sodding wasn't. When Scotsmen were leaping around the Highlands in kilts in the 16th century, the last thing on their minds was dancing a Viennese Waltz.

Cygne · 28/11/2020 23:24

Someone needs to point out to Motsi that she is paid to judge, not to stand up and jiggle along to the music. How can she be watching properly and making notes if that's what she's doing?

Have to say the kilt would have suited a more lively type of dance
Ellmau · 28/11/2020 23:31

"Hopefully this tour will last 3 months and won't be cut short".

It's an analogy with tours of duty, which is army deployments abroad.

Cygne · 28/11/2020 23:34

Given that anything apparently now goes for the couples dance, I'd like to see someone dancing a Highland Fling.

ElspethFlashman · 28/11/2020 23:41

But it's not a tour, that's the point.

There are people actually on tour right now, who have no choice in the matter. Who would be on the first plane home in a heartbeat.

He's a TV presenter trying to get more famous!
