Previous thread

I'm not sure 9 pages will last us, so I'm getting prepared a bit early! Check the last thread first before posting here — we might still be over there.

OP posts:

I also agree with you moonjelly that the projection of Johannes of so called repulsion is disappointing.

SoupDragon · 23/11/2020 07:44

The earlier threads were full of criticism of Maisie's confident attitude and general dislike for her. Now there's a lot of "poor Maisie".

There are going to be more ties this year with only 3 judges and I remember seeing a mathematical explanation a few years back of how the way they deal with ties is unfair. They should bring Anton in until Bruno is back to bring it up to 4 judges again.

SoupDragon · 23/11/2020 07:45

@MoonJelly

On the other hand, there seems to be an extraordinary amount of hatred for arguably less confident middle-aged women on here, even to the extent of projecting reactions from Johannes that simply didn't happen.
Most people disagreed with me when I tried to say that 🤷🏻‍♀️

At least now it will stop!

bibliomania · 23/11/2020 08:07

I wish people wouldn't insist people are disliked only because they're young women or older women. What are Ranvir and. Clara, just the sweet spot in the middle?

I feel indifferent to Maisie, much like HRVY, although I admired the lifts. Caroline grated on me because she took herself so seriously, and I was bored of her move of lifting the leg up for Johannes to grasp.

m00rfarm · 23/11/2020 08:29

I have been studying Johannes' reactions to Caroline and I cannot see ANYTHING that makes it looks like he hates her. They seemed perfectly happy with each other and, if anything, assuming these comments eventually get back to the person, were probably making them feel more awkward together.

Clawdy · 23/11/2020 08:33

Can't stand Shirley, and her arm-waving and shouting. Is she trying to be the new Bruno, or just constantly pissed?

CharityDingle · 23/11/2020 08:53
@Mylittlephonyy a ringer is someone with dance experience. Often trying to minimise or deny the fact that they spent years at stage school having hours of dance training every week.
Thanks for this. I was trying to work out the meaning.

I'm behind on this week's Strictly. Will catch up tonight. I know Caroline is gone.

Agreed. Also can't see why posters didn't realise the theme of their dance was meant to be taken lightheartedly.
Gooseysgirl · 23/11/2020 09:09

I see Claudia has got Graham Norton's Radio 2 Sat gig. Her Saturdays will be busy next Autumn!!!

PuppyMonkey · 23/11/2020 09:19

Following my essential contributions on the last thread, I’m just updating that I watched GMB (on and off) this morning and as far as I could see there was definitely no sign of Ranvir. So if anyone mentions her getting up at 3am today, that definitely wasn’t to get to work.Grin

Theromanempire · 23/11/2020 09:26

Just watched the results show - it was a very definite weird awkward moment when Caroline reached up to Johannes Shock

Skipsurvey · 23/11/2020 09:28

oh glad about Claudia

Maireas · 23/11/2020 09:28

Gooseysgirl, well she should be kept busy on £500k pa.

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 23/11/2020 09:28

For those of you unfamiliar with the term ringer it originates in sport when a low level pub type team find themselves short of a player for an important match and draft in Bob from behind the bar's friends cousin for the day - who turns out to be a professional player.

Samcro · 23/11/2020 09:35

i never vote for the obvious ringers. I really wanted to like CQ, but she just came across badly. same with Masie.
I was a bit surprised that Harvey is called a pop star. he is only just releasing his 1st album.

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 23/11/2020 09:36

I loved Danny Mac and Oti. I still watch their dances regularly but I didn't vote them, likewise Debbie. I know it's nigh on impossible to put together a line up of celebs where no one has dance experience and even if it was done watching 12 John Sargent's would get pretty tiresome pretty quickly but if you have earned money by dancing you won't be getting my vote.

CharityDingle · 23/11/2020 09:44

@Redcrayons

Kara played a blinder She was good, but not too good. Had a couple of duff weeks, and then got really good. Plus she had Artem 😍 at her. And she was really sweet and likeable.

Kelle bright probably did the best out of the EE lot, I think (except Kara, obvs).

Emma Barton (EE) was in the final last year.
mogloveseggs · 23/11/2020 09:55

For me Maisie is missing the joy.
Clara has it, Jamie has it, nvwls has it, jj too I think
She doesn't deserve to go but needs to let go a bit, not treat it as a competition this week and just go dancing

SoupDragon · 23/11/2020 09:57

I've not seen the joy in JJ. He's clearly enjoying it but perhaps has a natural reservation that means he doesn't look joyous.

ppeatfruit · 23/11/2020 09:58

Ok marking my place. I can't spend the whole morning reading this ,and the last thread fgs. So forgive me if anyone else noticed that Caroline DELIBERATELY underdanced the dance off, She knew it was over so she gave up.

Twas the correct result!!!!!!!!!!

mogloveseggs · 23/11/2020 10:03

Yeah you're right. Think he's a bit scared of amy too after she jumped all over him last week Grin
SoupDragon · 23/11/2020 10:03

I think she underdanced too. I think she knew Maisie didn't deserve to be there.

ScienceSensibility · 23/11/2020 10:04

ImAncient

It was a You Magazine article, I read it online. If you go to you.co.uk
And click on the ‘Celebrity’ tab, it is about ten articles down.

ppeatfruit · 23/11/2020 10:13

Oh and thanks for the thread Polka Yes Soup I got the feeling that she underdanced all her previous dances except the CCC . Origiinally it was good (apart from the unnecessary, completely exaggerated theme).

Maybe like JJ she had some pain (those shoes alone would kill me!).

JJ dances carefully ,I reckon he's in pain too.

Lampzade · 23/11/2020 10:33

That’s what I think. I appreciate that she is a good dancer, but she just doesn’t interest me and I definitely think it’s because she’s not showing the joy and excitement. The truth is that she’s just not ‘likeable’. Jamie ,Bill, Clara have thrown themselves into the show and as a result I look forward to watching them.
